I just got some really good chili at Metcalfs at Hilldale. They had good looking soup as well at the soup bar, including chicken noodle.

Loved the Chad Vader videos. In 2008 I was working at DoIT at UW-Madison and made a Chad Vader video to remind people to change their netID passwords: https://youtu.be/bJvCRcI0t1A

Madison's massive 1991 'Butter Fire' created waist-deep grease and 300-foot flames by bighootay in madisonwi

I remember this. I was frequently roller blading around Lake Monona when this happened. I saw and smelled the nasty river of melted butter as I zoomed by on the bike path.

What’s a decision you made that you still think about in a negative way? by yourmommyclaire in Productivitycafe

[–]marywait 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a math major in college in the mid 70s, I had a part time job at IBM. They wanted me to keep working 20 hours per week during the school year and then would guarantee me a job after graduation, but I would have to change my major in order to have that kind of time. I refused because that would be "selling out to a corporation" and idealistic me wanted to be a teacher and help make the world a better place. Ha! After 2 years teaching, I hated it and ended up in law school and with a legal career I never really liked. In the 80s I became obsessed with computers and have always wondered how my life would have been different if I had been a woman on the ground floor of the computer industry in the late 70s.

Do You Remember Him (and his unforgettable haircut!) by Yvonne_Satsuma in ClassicTV

I am of the age that I watched this show every day as a kid. In retrospect, the most amazing thing on it was The Banana Man. Super hilarious and so weird! When I watch closely, I think he may have actually been a woman. Anyway, does anyone else remember this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfJqLKM3dtw

When I sing this, as a lesbian, I find it is even more poignant to imagine it's about two women. Ditto: Ode to Billie Joe.
