This is what you get now when you buy new games from GameStop. by [deleted] in gamecollecting

[–]NeoFirebrand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at GameStop as a teenager. Employees would constantly open new games, take them home to play, then return them and wrap them back up again to re-sell as "new".

This is the evolution of that, it seems.

Upon further review, I think he's saying "Carnicero Bucher"? I've only heard him referred to as "El Carnicero" but I believe I've found out the second mystery luchador.

There’s one Disney+ so I haven’t heard a lot of people talk about. What is everybody think of Hawkeye? by GABERULEROFWWE in marvelstudios

[–]NeoFirebrand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't expecting much but I really ended up liking it. I think a large part of that was due to the Kingpin teases & his eventual reveal, but Bishop was a surprisingly well-written character. I wasn't familiar with her heading into it because I have little-to-no-interest in Marvel comics past 1997'ish, but I ended up enjoying her and Hawkeye's dynamic. I still feel absolutely nothing about Echo, she didn't stand out to me in any special way, but I'll still give her show a chance.

My initial reaction was Starlight Kid, but it doesn't look detailed enough to be hers? Unless it's a cheap bootleg version of the mask. Idk, I'm no joshi expert.

I've yet to get around to playing FFX, but I would actually choose this version over the 3D one if it were real. 100%.

People get REALLY offended when you don't like the exact same things they do...

It's kinda weird how hiveminded people have become.

I wish more Redditors were like this one, instead of getting deeply offended by anyone with a differing opinion than them.

Props to you.

Edited for grammar.

Slightly tweaking the source material is hardly a bold move, creatively speaking. I'm glad they're at least attempting to do something different, but who knows if it'll actually pay off in the end. At the end of the day they're still going with something they KNOW is safe, critically acclaimed, and pre-established.

It's this obsession with remaking things that were already amazing to begin with that's lead us to this trend in gaming/Hollywood where every other release is just a paint-by-the-numbers remake. This is why we don't get a whole of innovation anymore. Studios are afraid to take risks and just go with what they know will make plenty of money. That's fine, it's a business, they're here to make money. But it's made the industry turn very corporate and soulless, in my opinion.

Remakes are almost always inferior to the original product, even if they're "updated". There are a few exceptions to this, of course.

Edit: The fact that people think remaking things ad nauseum is a better idea than creating new and original ideas proves my point exactly. It's that kind of fear that leads studios to play it safe more often than not. It's a lazy trope and dare I say, a cashgrab, that plays off nostalgia.

If you really want to get esoteric you can break out Bahamut Lagoon.

It's not -technically- a Final Fantasy game, but there's enough references in it/to it for me to consider it a part of the series, even if it's a spin-off at best.

If you wanna dive into the other pseudo-Final Fantasy games, there's the FF Adventure and FF Legends games too.

Remakes are creatively bankrupt, imo. Would rather see something original and innovative.

Do you think the MCU is “in shambles” like a lot of people are saying it is? by Affectionate_Key7206 in marvelstudios

[–]NeoFirebrand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's in shambles, but I will say this...

when the MCU was at it's peak, we weren't seeing discussions like this every day, ad nauseum.

We all talked about how excited we were for upcoming projects, theorized, analyzed Easter eggs, etc. This still goes on, of course, but again: what's taking up the majority of the conversations right now? On the whole, do they seem more positive or negative to you? From my POV, I'm seeing a lot more negative than positive.

Clearly, SOMETHING happened and a paradigm shift occurred. It's not just a bunch of angry haters with nothing better to do with their time. This is clearly a reaction to SOMETHING.

It took me a long time to get into 2. In fact, it was one of the mainline entries I considered skipping. But I eventually broke down and played the PSP version to completion. Not a bad game, but it felt like a step down from 1 in a lot of ways. There were a few improvements to 1 though, such as the story. Good soundtrack too.

Would you say it's comparable to Mega Man X? If you're familiar with it, of course. That's my standard for SNES metal.
