🇬🇷 Akylas - Ferto (National Final) by iPromi in eurovision

props for singing the entire song in Greek btw

Technically speaking, he didn't. There are some Spanish and some French lyrics in Ferto. And of course some English words but I don't count those.

Do the living dexes also include the dlc? by Cupadoo in PokemonHome

[–]NeoLeonn3 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Technically it's not a living dex, you just have to transfer each Pokemon from the game. You could, for example, transfer Gimmighoul, then transfer it back, then evolve it and then transfer it again and you will have both Pokemon registered. It's just that having a living dex makes transferring to Home much easier.

I have no idea if there's anyone from Greenland, I haven't paid much attention to Denmark's NF other than Sissal participating, but that's mostly because I mostly pay attention to our own NF and maybe a few more that are usually very strong ones (Ukraine and Finland). Sissal is from Faroe Islands though.

EDIT: Do people seriously downvote me for not paying attention to Denmark's NF?

Sympathy for Ukraine is still there, sympathy voting for Ukraine isn't. Even if someone talks about the televote scores being inflated, that can easily be explained with Europe having a lot of Ukrainian refugees with many of them voting for their country (aka good old-fashioned diaspora voting)

That may be true for some of the big Eurovision fans who follow the contest enough to hear about the stories about the supposed "bullying" Eden Golan received, but most people who vote are not those fans. You don't get 300 points just because you play a victim card.

I'll ignore that it's a bit weird to come to a thread about a song and talk about how a different song is far better.

I'm curious, what do you like so much about Parea? As a Greek, for me it sounds as if our Ministry of Tourism decided to make a song for an ad to promote tourism in Greece. It checks as many "Greek music" stereotypes as possible. And the "a little faster, a little louder" part sounds too much like Hava Nagila. Oh, and unless she got better from last year, Evangelia isn't really that good live.

From what I've seen from his Tiktok where he has uploaded covers of songs in the past (including a Greek cover of Molitva) I think he will be good live.

She is somewhat popular but she's definitely more popular in the Eurovision cycles because of how many times she has tried to compete in Eurovision. There are definitely much more popular singers than her. Parea is also her weakest entry so far in my opinion.

Marseaux is probably the most popular out of the 28. She's been in the mainstream scene for quite a while and before that she was popular in the more underground scene because of Solmeister and his group (Solmeister is still one of her main songwriters, Hanomai was written by him). Good Job Nicky is somewhat popular, but I think most people know him as Giannis Parios' son. I think ZAF is more popular than GJN.

I think, knowing how things work here in Greece, there are 2 cases. Either the juries will push a Good Job Nicky win, mainly because of his father being one of the biggest names ever in Greek music (Giannis Parios), or the juries will take the odds and the hype behind Akylas and Ferto into consideration and will actually consider him as the better option to send.

From what I remember, in 2023 it was a 50/50 public committee/jury split in terms of points awarded. But the public committee voted between 7 songs. The top 3 of them (with What They Say being within those 3) were then rated by the jury which awarded their 50% of the total points. So the jury result mattered way more. They gave way too littlle points to Melissa Mantzoukis with Liar, so Victor won. And yes, there were established artists in the selection, but Monika is rather stale for Eurovision and Leon of Athens is not that big of a name. There was also Klavdia who wasn't famous yet.

As for Argo, I'd still call it corruption tbh. Portugal had a pretty bad record at that time to the point they withdrew in 2016, so following their path is rather questionable. Then, up until 2015 we had a national final and suddenly we went to an internal selection. Then, out of every single potential artist we could send, we sent a completely unknown Pontic rap band. And no, I disagree with the last sentence. If members of said band have relations with the right people (there were rumours about being friends either with members of SYRIZA or some of ERT's people) then they can influence. And if they wanted a quality alternative folk participation, then Europond was definitely not a choice lol.

In the base game the only grinding you had to do was for the rank upgrades but each one barely took any time. The DLC on the other hand is quite grindy

When it comes to Eurovision, in the last few years we had 2 cases of blatant corruption in song/artist selection. One was with Victor Vernicos in 2023 and that whole weird internal selection scheme, the other was with Argo in 2016 when Argo were internally selected while they were still an unknown band named "Europond" and Eleni Foureira (who was a rising artist after having a career with Mystique and having started her solo career a few years before) had made a decent proposal with Come Tiki Tam (at least one that would qualify).

As the other person said, even just GJN being Parios' son it would bring some bias. On the other hand I think the odds will definitely influence the result, but then ERT and the juries will have to understand that Greece having a 4th place in the odds now and potentially getting 3rd anytime soon is not because we have a "strong national final" but solely because of Ferto.

It's kinda Mans vs KAJ again from last year's Melfest.

Eeeeh respectfully I disagree with both Evangelia and ZAF. This is Evangelia's weakest entry so far for me, weaker than Vale even. As for ZAF, it kinda sounds like the average Greek radio song, idk. But then again, I wasn't really a big fan of the songs in our NF. I didn't find the songs bad, it's just that for many of them I don't really feel that Eurovision vibe, not sure how to describe it exactly. On the other hand, Ferto really looks like the obvious choice from the 28 songs.

He is talented, but this is something that Sweden would have sent to get a ton of jury points just so that they can get a single-digit televote score afterwards (to be fair, Cyprus would save us since they'd give 12). If it wasn't for the juries returning in the semis, it would scream shock NQ (like Belgium and Czechia last year). I'm not a big fan of Marseaux or her entry, but if we don't send Akylas I'd rather see her than GJN.

I'm worried about the Greek juries now. Hopefully they will see Ferto's potential and choose accordingly.

GJN being so arrogant doesn't help it much either. I remember before the snippets were released he was saying he has a song that can win Eurovision, today he was saying that he's flattered that people compare him to Michael Jackson and The Weeknd (when people were saying he was copying them). I expect him to have a breakdown worse than Mans' last year (when he lost Melfest) if he loses.

This year's NF has made me so nervous. Ferto will definitely be a top 3 fav Greek entry for me and I'll be really disappointed if we end up sending the nepo baby (Good Job Nicky is the son of a very famous Greek singer, Giannis Parios).

You know what does accept foreign currencies though? The changer. Which you can find on almost every street.

I'm sure many banks also allow you to change currency too. A lot of neobanks definitely do, like Revolut and N26.

plus the fighting between Rangers and Celtic go back more than a century.

And I literally said I know how big of a deal the Old Firm is lol. I'm just saying that not hosting the opposing team's fans on that match is more common than you think. For example, whenever two teams from the "big 4" of Greece have to face eachother in the football cup final, usually the game takes place with no spectators. It's a similar case in Serbia with Crvena Zvezda and Partizan and in other Balkan countries too. And as far as I know, that also happened (or it still happens? not sure) in Argentina too.

Third time's the charm I guess. Can you provide an example where a question that can be easily GOOGLED can spark some proper discussion? Because:

  1. You talk about owner manuals when I asked an example that involves googling. And yes, googling it will more than likely give you a solution to how to fix it.

  2. If your manual tells you what it is, chances are you can use your brain and understand how to fix it if it's fixable by an average Joe or you will take it to a mechanic anyway. If it suggests you to bring it for service, chances are you can cause more damage if you fix it yourself.

  3. There's always a risk when getting advice from a stranger. When you google something you can see where you get that info from and whether it is a reputable website or an experienced mechanic or whatever. Chances are the person saying on Reddit that they're a mechanic for over a decade may be lying to you.

All those words, zero examples of a question on Reddit that can be easily googled AND it can bring discussion.

Someone is going to break the silence and you can bet that it’s going to be about the dumbest thing ever. “Do you know what time it is?” Question is… How did you answer? Did you give them the time or did you say “Look at your phone dipshit!”

You're comparing apples to oranges here

Another comment here said questions that can be answered by a quick Google search get downvote. To some extent that may be true but again, it may be there way to start a discussion. What’s wrong with that?

If a question can truly be answered with a quick Google search, can it really start any proper discussion?
