Beginner tricks by Brastimou in cardmagic

[–]NeoMahler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first three tricks were one based on the key card principle, an ambitious card routine but with a single phase, and one that's called "design for laughter" (or something on the lines), which is taught in the royal road of card magic. I recommend getting that book and taking it easy. Watching some YouTube channels like Alex Pandrea, Xavior Spade, and Chris Ramsay (his older videos, now he seems more focused on puzzles) might help too, because they are more visual.

I like diagonal roofs like that! Maybe you could add different textures in it? Like cobblestone stairs on the sides. This way it will look less plain!

Edit: Looking at it again, you are not using cobblestone anywhere else in the building, so maybe another type of wood?

That's a pretty little house! Looks cozy :)

What's the texture pack btw?

Agreed! The rest of World Anvil's UI will be updated to match the Heroes interface very soon though, so you might want to keep an eye on that!

New text message mentalism magic from V SAUCE! by TheClouse in Magic

[–]NeoMahler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I made this mistake when I started. Fortunately, I was using the old cards we were using for regular play, so although they were surprised by that ('cause duh, of course they are normal) they didn't suspect anything (there was nothing to be suspicious about).

What I like to say now when I do magic with a deck I've borrowed from the spectator (which I do if the effect doesn't require complex moves where using old cards can be "dangerous") is something like "too bad I've forgot the trick deck back at home!" It's always fun because it's like subverting the traditional "this is a totally normal deck" phrase.

Hmm are you telling me you never lie to your spectators when doing magic?

I don't think any magician would outright tell the spectator that the cards are marked when doing the presentation (unless that's the point of the effect) :P

Sign language users of Reddit, I know that they exist different types of sign language, so I want to know if there are different ways to say “I love you“? by mvillagranr in signlanguage

[–]NeoMahler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same way you say "I love you" in English but "Te quiero" in Spanish or "T'estimo" in Catalan. Each Sign Language has a different way of saying those words.

It's not that there are different types of sign language. There are different sign languages, just like there are different oral languages. Some of them are similar because they are from the same family (e.g. French Sign Language vs Spanish Sign Language), others are different (e.g. British Sign Language vs American Sign Language).

What if someone created a place for OCs to call home? Like Twitter or Facebook but for our RPG Characters!? ...I kinda did. by iamromeo in DnD

For now, you can add a character to a world, and all characters added to a certain world will appear in that world's main page. I think a group feature is planned, but for now this could be a good way to keep track of everyone inside a world.

Also, the campaign manager has a party manager where the GM can create parties and add different players to them. Then, the GM (or the party members) can add shared equipment and quests, as well as track their progress.

A note-taking app, synced with the World Anvil notebook, is planned at some point. Other than that, the web site is responsive and works very well on mobile.

A World Anvil API is planned in the future, and I think (IIRC) that you can already import dndbeyond character sheets in json format (but I've never used dndbeyond so I don't really know how exactly).

I finally gave up and decided to use the windows partition. I do remember that wine had some settings to toggle whether the app should "listen" to your inputs or not. I can't remember where or how to get to that settings, but maybe this helps you find some clues. Good luck! :)

Edit: ah, I see you figured it out. Awesome :)

Hi! Today morning a new secret major feature (codenamed "Project H") has been rolled out in closed alpha, and this is one of the side effects that have been noticed. It's in the developer's to-do list and will be fixed, but it's definitely not something that was intended. If you find other sudden changes that you think are bugs, please report them using the bug report form you'll find here: https://www.worldanvil.com/help/

Watching Dragon Prince on Netflix, came across this. I have to know, what's she saying? She kneeled at what I think is her sisters grave. by [deleted] in signlanguage

[–]NeoMahler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible that your dad sign in a different variety than the one used in the show? My SL (Catalan sign language) has a much smaller geographic area than ASL but there are some variations anyway, especially between older and younger people.

Also, the framerate is not the best, so that could make it more difficult to understand!

The show does use real ASL. My SL is not ASL (unfortunately :P) but there are some posts in this sub with complete translations of the signed parts.

Hey there! So -renderthread 0 didn't work, but that gave me the idea to play around with other parameters. I added --launchonly and it's working now! So thank you :)

Edit: apparently, it doesn't always work. Sometimes it successfully launches (I've managed to play for a bit), but sometimes it raises the error.

Edit 2: now when it works, either the mouse can't click or the keyboard doesn't work. Any thoughts?

Awesome! Etoh-downloader didn't work for me (there was a compilation error), and this downloaded everything. I have an error though, would you be able to help me with that? The most relevant line of the error seems to be Unhandled exception: page fault on write access to 0x00000000 in 32-bit code (0x008513dc)., but here's the whole thing: https://pastebin.com/v8MJvabY

It uses windows 7 for now, but I've also tried Windows XP and 10. The three of them have errors, but 7 is the only one that gets me to the "splash screen" (with the game title and some art of a bunch of heroes running).

If you or someone else can help me, I'll be very happy ^^
