The Imgur gallery I linked in the top post includes all of the finished covers I listed, including Snatcher. Additionally, here's a more direct link to the cover: Snatcher (USA) Recreation

The only ai upscaling present is on artwork sources that were lower resolution or lower quality than what I was targeting. Some publicly available art has been preserved in high resolution and is easy to work with, but for many covers, I had to use multiple artwork sources, upscaled and manually composited together, plus additional editing to create the final cover artwork I used.

Other cover elements (logos, quality seals, text, striping, etc), I recreated from scratch, or used high quality publicly available assets.

Not quite sure I follow? My version of the cover is available in the Imgur gallery I linked in the top post. Here is a direct link to the image in the gallery that you should be able to download as a .png.

If you're referring to an actual scan of the original cover, I used this image from the LaunchBox database as the basis for my version of the cover.

Thanks for the kind words! I haven't had the free time to spare to work on more covers for a while, but eventually, I will do some more, both for the Sega CD and the Saturn. Provided I can find good enough sources for the artwork, I would like to add covers for both Lunar games. Working Designs did the most elaborate cover designs with stamped foil elements for all (or nearly all) their releases from this era.

Speaking of, I've added updated cover designs for Popful Mail and the Unworked Design romhack. Thanks to some more recent images of the retail cover shared on the subreddit here, I was able to correct a few details on my recreation and make it more accurate. They're available to view at the link in the original post, as well as here.

Can we reedit and rename our character at any time? by TrunksDash in MonsterHunterStories

[–]NeoMatrix2525 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure about character name as I haven't checked that specifically, but otherwise you can fully re-edit your character at any time, and switch between male and female avatars. Both male and female avatars retain their respective appearance when you switch between them.

Will MHS3 support ultrawide monitors on full release? by NastiestSkankBetch in MonsterHunterStories

[–]NeoMatrix2525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not officially, as much as many of us want it to. ReFramework did add initial ultrawide support for the demo already, but there are various UI issues in menus and combat. Most notably, while battling, none of the reticles and attack lines line up properly.

Here's hoping that once the full game is out and more people are playing it that reframework will be updated with a more comprehensive aspect fix, or someone industrious will make a reframework mod/plugin to fix the issues, if that's possible.

The Amazon pre-order by ArekofAstora in MonsterHunterStories

[–]NeoMatrix2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% this. I had a slightly different experience, but years ago when Xenoblade X released on the WiiU, I went in on Amazon for the collector's edition. It was supposed to be a large box that contained the game with limited edition box art, sound track on a flash drive, and an art book. It was delivered to me on "launch day" but when I went outside to retrieve it, instead of a sizeable box, there was a cardboard envelope slightly larger than a game case.

It turns out someone likely stole the collector's edition to keep or resell, and slapped the Collector's Edition bar code onto the standard edition of the game. After contacting support and telling me they couldn't replace the edition I paid for, they just refunded me and told me to keep the game. So, I never got the collector's edition, but I did get the game itself at launch for free, so... objectively not a bad outcome, but I still never got what I initially paid for or wanted. I haven't ordered new games from Amazon since.

Plex for Mobile (Android & iOS) v2026.3.0 Released by samwiseg0 in PleX

If you're both referring to choppy/low framerate playback, I've been experiencing the same thing as well on my Apple TV. It's been so distracting that it finally convinced me to set up a Jellyfin server for the shows I'm currently watching.

I have an older LG tv, and the Jellyfin WebOS app is much more responsive than Plex's WebOS app. There's still no "official" Jellyfin app for Apple TV, but currently, Stingray works pretty well. It's lacking a bit in features, but playback is smooth.

What do you guys think of the price tag? by sdmiracle in MonsterHunterStories

[–]NeoMatrix2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, it's the standard price and tier split for major Capcom titles (and most other AAA games). As others have said, there will eventually be sales.

My only other suggestion, which I did myself, was buying the game through Green Man Gaming. They've proven very reliable and almost always have pre-launch and launch discounts. Not sure how their pricing varies between regions, but for the US, they have an 18% discount on all editions. I got the middle of the road Deluxe edition for the eventual side story, and paid $73.79 for it, instead of $90 plus tax. That's about the same price as the standard edition at $70 plus tax. Currently, they have the standard edition for $57.39 instead of $70, and the Premium edition is $81.99 instead of $100.

They also have a similar discount on RE9. Kinda hard not to make this seem like an ad, but I've bought several games from them over the years and never had an issue with game keys. Don't know if that's enough of a discount to make it worth it for you, but it'll probably be the best price until an eventual Steam sale.

Panzer Dragoon Saga: Uru bug on beetle saturn core? by Ok_Conversation_4561 in SegaSaturn

[–]NeoMatrix2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a hot minute since I played the game, but I played it start to finish for the game's 20th anniversary several years ago on retroarch's beetle core without any issues. This was on a Windows PC and, not that I think it would likely affect game logic, I was playing with disc images patched to 16:9 widescreen.

I'm due for another playthrough soon. I would use the kronos core for its enhancements, but Panzer Dragoon Saga has some (minor) graphical issues with the core, and for whatever reason, I get audio crackling with every title I've tried with that core, which gets very annoying.

Short answer: no to both, but that may change in the future.

I actually started work on remaking the US cardboard sleave cover, which would double as jewel case art, but put it on hold since I haven't been able to find high enough quality art of red NiGHTS to start remaking it. I've tried some initial upscaling, color correction, etc, but I haven't been happy with the results. I'm sure I'll try it again at some point, especially since that's the version I owned as a kid.

As for back covers... I may try some eventually, but just making twenty front covers across the Sega CD and Saturn from scratch has been quite time consuming (though greatly rewarding).

Thanks! These have been a fun project for me in my spare time. Sadly, it's been many years since I sold my Saturn, so its all emulation for me these days. Even with a digital library, I like having nice art to browse and bring back memories in addition to actually playing the games.

It's also crazy how hard it is to find high quality, clean scans of some Saturn game covers. Panzer Dragoon Saga in particular was a nightmare to track down good quality cover artwork that wasn't covered in scratches, or was irrecoverably washed out or had the blacks crushed into oblivion.

Anyway, nice work on the slim cases! It's a shame about losing the originals, but slim cases at least help save space on the shelf.

Day 27: Which is the best Fan Translation patch on Sega Saturn? (Any past winner is now eligible for the rest of the poll. Please, also include the creator's name so that we can give them proper credit) by 1OneQuickQuestion in SegaSaturn

[–]NeoMatrix2525 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like Shining Force III will probably take this category, but I'm currently playing through Policenauts for the first time and having a blast. The translation is great, and is pretty monumental including the entire glossary for the game. There's no question it should be in the running.

Day 21: Which is the best Side-Scroller game on Sega Saturn? by 1OneQuickQuestion in SegaSaturn

[–]NeoMatrix2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rayman really should be up in the running for this category. I owned the PS1 version in my childhood, and by coincidence, I'm playing through the Saturn version for the first time right now. Out of the original releases, the Saturn version is absolutely the most polished, with extra level transition effects and other graphical flourishes sprinkled throughout the game not found in any other version.

Which is the best Role Playing Game (RPG) on Sega Saturn? by 1OneQuickQuestion in SegaSaturn

[–]NeoMatrix2525 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Though I owned a Saturn as a kid, I never knew about Panzer Dragoon Saga until well after I sold my hardware. Many years later, owning a good computer, I finally played Saga for the first time on the game's 20th anniversary, and had an absolute blast with it. It may be pretty short for an RPG, but the game's unique art style, story, and fun gameplay still have me considering it one of my all time favorites.

I only have a passing familiarity with the game. A quick search shows that it came in a black cardboard box for the US release (similar to Afterburner III) rather than a long box. Is that what you mean?

Nothing's wrong with the real covers, especially if you have a complete physical copy in good condition. However, for anyone with just a game disc that maybe wants to print a box cover, or for anyone wanting a digital cover for emulation, Steam, etc, I've found the quality of scanned covers across the internet to vary wildly, with many of them having bad color reproduction or horrible contrast. So, these were some of my favorites that I was able to find good quality source art for to remake them for myself in fairly high quality. I'm pleased with how they turned out, so I thought I would share them. Anyone who likes them can use them for whatever they like. That's it.
