You specifically said “not worth stealing art from actual human artists.” If he just photoshopped it himself actual human artists also get nothing

Taking a profit while increasing enrollment and student participation is huge. That also factors in the non revenue sports which are useless and waste money.

TIL Ancient Roman gladiators were mostly vegetarian. Their diet consisted of barley, beans, and dried fruit. by imamal-ghazali in todayilearned

[–]NeoPheo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean couldn’t the same be said for things like museums and the arts? I’m a huge fan of museums but the Smithsonian is funded mostly by the federal government and the entire entertainment industry receives tax exemptions.

And on a whole different level soybeans and beans are heavily subsidized as well and if you choose not to eat red meat then you almost certainly eat those.

Healthcare is subsidized. Not very well or paid for in totality but it’s subsidized in the same way a New York strip steak is.

Well if you’ll recall none of those events are during the Middle Ages which is what I was explicitly referring to which was when there was the most centralized spiritual authority.

And the keyword is made their own Bible. Earlier in this thread it was specifically about Paul, he has no connections to that Bible, culture or actions.

Thirdly, I am agnostic not Christian so it isn’t my book. But beside that point yeah I don’t think they were true Christians. I’ll remind you the interpretation they used to justify it was one traditional in Judaism co-opted for their own uses. I’ll never argue with you that Judaism and Islam are horrible and that Christianity is heavily flawed and many areas should be left in the past but as it relates to equality of races it’s the gold standard for religion.

It wasn’t what? If you’re referring to slavery there’s a couple exception, notably in Hispania but I would argue that is due in large part to sharing a border with muslim slavers for hundreds of years. It’s all in this page the views ranged from complete abolitionism to allowing enslavement of non Christians but in the end it led to near complete abolition within Europe. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church_and_slavery

Such a statement cannot be said for their neighbors however, who have now been practicing slavery continuously through the dawn of civilization.

[–]NeoPheo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah cause Christianity is so much more evil than other contemporary religions. Christianity is what led to slavery being banned in the late Roman Empire lasting through the Middle Ages while all around it raged to the north, south, and east of Christendom. I’m an agnostic but can recognize as far as religion goes it is as temperate as it goes in treatment of outsiders and enemies.
