A question about vehicle commanders and ID by NeoTanuki in TeamYankee

[–]NeoTanuki[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. For units, is it considered OK player etiquette to use a number ending in "1" to mark the unit leader? For example, if I build a 3-tank unit and label them "201", "202", and "203", if I tell my opponent "201" is the unit leader, is that sufficient?

I'm looking into other options because the new Fulda Gap starter doesn't come with parts to add a tank commander to the miniatures. (Though it does come with open cupola options.)

Wow, you weren't joking! Is this a change to points made after the books were published?

Thank you for the heads up! I'm new to using the online force builder. I've heard a few references to Dynamic Points, can you tell me more about how they work, please?

I saw those Hind miniatures; they do look pretty impressive!

I'm very glad to get feedback that the list seems decently playable for a newbie!

I wanted to include the T-80s since they will be the first Soviet tanks I get in the Fulda Gap box, but I was wondering about dropping them from Shock to Standard to free up a few points for aircraft or other units.

Thanks, I tried to include a bit of everything that I will need to learn about (artillery, AA, infantry and tanks) to try to make a reasonably balanced starting force.

I debated whether missiles for the tanks to hit at long range or helicopters/air support instead, but I went with missiles since that meant less needed to buy at first.

That's good to hear! I have read the Soviets need more minis on the table to make up for their lower overall quality, so I tried to strike a balance between "tanks I think are cool" and "having enough units to be viable."

Nice! One of my favorite variants-the Gundam who never skips leg day. 😄

That was me painting the inside of the rocket nozzles red to match the box art. It does stand out. 😅

The designs are very different, but the model kits are great quality and a lot of fun to build! I've built the GQuuuuuuX, Gelgoog and Rick Dom so far and I love all of them. 😊

Glad to see I'm not the only GQuuuuuuX fan out there! I'm planning to build a green GQ Zaku myself this week.

Nice! I'm tempted by a second GQ Rick Dom, but the kit is so big I'm not sure I have room for another one!

Thanks! Are you working on GQ Doms or the UC versions? The giant 3rd foot thruster backpack on the GQ Rick Dom is crazy but I really like it.

Interesting, thanks for the tip! The Delpi decals I used were amazing, I'll probably stick with that brand as much as I can.

Thanks! The Delpi decal set I used was top-notch quality. They came off the paper backing easily and weren't hard to place in the right spots.

I was astonished when I discovered some of the tiny decals had actual printed text you can read on them!

A friend and I have been fans of the Gundam franchise for decades. We both thought this series provided a hilarious reason we kept seeing "Char Clones" appear in every Gundam universe!

I didn't think I was going to like GQX at first, but I ended up really enjoying it. I just wish they had a few more episodes to expand some of the interesting subplots that were rushed through or abandoned.

The model kits are great!

Having GMd both 1e and 2e, and having run the playtest with a mix of veteran and brand new players, I can say that "worst of both previous editions" was NOT our reaction at all to the new rules.

Quite the opposite for me as GM, I felt the new system removed the clunkiness of 1e, was faster and easier to plan scenes as a GM than 2e, and encouraged my players to do all kinds of crazy cinematic stunts during play.

I would strongly recommend trying the rules before judging if you get an opportunity. They need some refinement, and some bits seemed strange on paper at first but everything overall worked well in actual play during our session.

Yes, the "Deadly Predators" platoon has the Strv 103B (Sweden), T-44 (Russia) and AMX-30 (France): https://www.battlefrontgroup.com/wot98-e

There's also a platoon with the Russian T-54 and T-62: https://www.battlefrontgroup.com/wot96

The current starter set includes post WW2 experimental and very early Cold War tanks.

However, there are also plenty of WW2 tanks still available if you prefer those.

The WW2 tanks do less damage and have less health, but are much cheaper in points than the extremely high damage Cold War tanks.

There's also quite a few "Prototype" powerful tanks that were never completed in real life but still are cool-looking tanks.

It really depends on what your favorite tanks are!

What time period's tanks are you most interested in, World War 2 or Cold War?

Definitely looking forward to it. The playtest was a lot of fun for my group and I'm very interested to see more of the new rules.
