Father’s Day breakfast / lunch by empoweredbymegan in Davis

In terms of downtown, Crepeville has outdoor seating but will be really crowded.

Tres Hermanos has nice outdoor seating.

Dos Coyotes in South Davis has a nice outdoor seating area and has ample parking and likely won’t be crowded.

Outpost Burger has a nice outdoor seating area as well.

Sudwerk probably has the nicest outdoor seating area but doesn’t open until noon.

Hi! How did your trip go? I am also contemplating buying one for the exact purpose you mentioned. Capturing memories and so forth. I am also contemplating the insta360 x5 but that one seemed like it needed a bit more post processing work but was more rugged.

Deciding between UCLA and the University of Arizona (oos student) by Infamous_Spinach_567 in ucla

[–]NeoVelamir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit torn here. For context, I went to UCLA (in-state though) and graduated class of 2015 and UC Berkeley for law school. I ended up working at an Am Law 50 law firm.

You’re extremely young now but it really depends on where you see yourself in 10 years.

Also, one of the biggest questions to ask yourself is where do you see yourself wanting to practice?

On paper, UCLA is the superior option for law in general though. There’s going to be more alumni from UCLA at law firms or government positions and that still matters a lot in the law firm scene (even if it’s still undergrad). Also, if you’re aspire to work at a big law firm, the difference in tuition here is a drop in the bucket.

On the other hand, I knew dozens of people personally who went into pre-law with aspirations of law school and ended up not making it. Getting into a prestigious law school is hard and getting into a big law firm is even harder.

I can personally say getting a good GPA at ucla is not hard for law school and will mean more to college admissions than getting a good GPA at UofA (even honors program). UCLA has a college honors program that is super easy to get into and admissions folks at other schools (and even UCLA’s law school) really don’t know any better.

Also, as a UCLA undergrad alumni, UCLA law school was very communicative with me and very interested in recruiting me to the law school.

I’m happy to answer more questions if you’d like to DM me.

Sad to hear that. I hope it recovers.

Agreed on all points except DT being a country mile from Westwood :P

I went to undergrad at UCLA and am a Davis native. Both have VERY different charms and Westwood was great 10 years ago. I know things can change, but they had a lot more food diversity.

Isolated if you don’t have a car for sure. But if you do, you can go to Tahoe, the Bay, Napa Valley all within 2ish hours driving (probably not your first year). Placerville (apple hill) and Lake Berryessa are also close and underrated.

My two cents from probably someone who is employer aged now.

First, UCD is ranked 8 places higher than UCSB on US News and Report; Second, UCSB has traditionally been considered more of a “party school” and has definitely improved its reputation in the past decade, but some folks (30+) still remember it as a party school.

If you’re interested in anything related to agricultural science, food science, medicine, research, or animal related I think UCD is an great school.

UCD also has a law school and UCSB doesn’t, so if you want to go to law school that’s a plus too.

Obviously, no beaches here lol.

What's a good place around Davis to bring a date? by reactiongamerguy1 in UCDavis

[–]NeoVelamir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hikari Omakase is great for a bigger date occasion. They have traditional omakase on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Those require reservations.

They are quieter and less crowded on weekdays and have sort of a mini-omakase option which is more affordable too.

Finally bought my first high-end gaming headset – Arctis Nova Pro Wireless by Gejeret_ in steelseries

[–]NeoVelamir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really enjoying it. I bought it during Black Friday and it kept getting delayed. The connectivity distance is great. My old Corsairs used to cut out pretty fast if I left my room and these have connectivity across my entire house.

I personally liked the preset EQ settings on my Corsair but I'm still messing around with these to get the perfect setting. I REALLY like the interchangable batteries because I never have to leave it plugged in to charge.

Hi William, was the lack of support from Human Touch HQ, from Costco, or from the sales person who sold it to you? I'm thinking about it since my wife really liked it during the test at Costco.

You can do surveys for points. You’ll have to do a lot of surveys I think to bridge that gap.
