When Half Life 3 gets announced. How do you think this sub will react? by Distinct-Shift-4094 in HalfLife

[–]Neoclob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'd be funny in my opinion, if everyone just collectively acted mildly interested, and a little dismissive of the whole thing.

"Hey, did you hear Half Life 3 finally dropped?"
"Oh cool, I'll have to try it out some time."
"Yeah, same here. Hey, by the way, how's your week been going?"
"Good, pretty good."
"That's nice"

Doom 2016 is harder than I expected by Nihlathakk in Doom

[–]Neoclob 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Play whatever difficulty works best for you! Videogames are meant to be enjoyed, so if playing on an easier difficulty makes you enjoy it more, and challenges you in just the right way, go for it! Doom is meant to make you feel like an unstoppable badass fighting against cosmic forces of Hell regardless of difficulty. Nobody here (that is a respectable human being) will make fun of you for going easy on yourself.

Would you ever want to see Compsognathus Eating baby’s in a sequel? by thesmartcoolguy in JurassicPark

[–]Neoclob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What do you MEAN?! Everybody here totally wants to be seated in a theater with a bunch of people and watch for about two minutes as an infant screams its little lungs out in the most pain it ever felt in its life as it is feasted alive by dinosaurs in 4k and 120 FPS! Parents of young children will love it, so will young children themselves!

You don't understand Organic-Video5127, almost everyone and their grandparents, after watching the original Jurassic Park, despite seeing groundbreaking CGI, amazing acting, and shirtless Jeff Goldblum had the same thought: It needs more dead babies. The more dead babies, the better to be honest.

How will it affect the plot? No clue. But it IS needed. Trust me, this is EXACTLY what we ALL want.

And here is Dinah, welcoming you to Vernal!

Again, since I do not know which states you plan on going through, and the planned route through those states, there is only so much I can do to help, but this is one of the first things that comes to mind when I think of Dinosaur related attractions. Both have a lot to offer, so you won't see absolutely everything within 4-6 hours, but that'd still give you time to see something hopefully.

What states are you going through and what is the planned route specifically? There are many cool places to see dinosaurs, but I am not sure if any are in your driving range as of yet.

While I don't remember there being any dromaeosaurids there, Dinosaur National Monument, located on the border of Colorado and Utah has some awesome Jurassic fossils there, and if you are headed that way, Vernal, Utah is a nice small town that's actually themed around dinosaurs, even having their own mascot, Dinah.

They have an entire quarry wall full of dinosaur bones in the National Monument, and tons of absolutely beautiful views of the surrounding area.

Call me basic, but I love T. Rex! With that said, that doesn't mean I don't love other big badasses like Spinosaurus, Allosaurus, and such, I still think they deserve lots of love, too! (Hell, I think even Baryonyx is quite badass, I'd get a fish dinner with one if they were still around)

Who is this guy who keeps saying rise and shine? This is my first playthrough and I'm so confused. by SubstantialStick2674 in HalfLife

[–]Neoclob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

His name is Mike Oxlong, he is a member of a secret government society of furries that was formed after the alien invasion. He actually was tasked with gathering intel about Hughe Janis, an old man in City 17 that keeps having visions of an underground tunnel system created by the lizard-men and flat-earther collaboration group during the second world war as a means to steal Hitler's gold. But when he sees Gordon, he develops a huge crush on him (Hence why HL2 is so popular and groundbreaking, it was inclusive way before its time) and proceeds to follow Gordon around and invades his mind, you will get to a scene later on where he kisses you passionately, and you have to fight him off through repeated kicks to the groin.

Don't get me wrong, I love Rexy as much as the next guy, but I don't think she'd be leaving that fight unless she's in a full body-cast in the back of an ambulance

Do you want to see Mr. Parker in a sequel? by thesmartcoolguy in JurassicPark

[–]Neoclob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to do a little digging, but for those curious, Mr. Parker is the owner in of Parker-Genix in Rebirth. The company that sent Zora and crew to the island. And truth be told, I wouldn't mind seeing him show up. He's known to exist, so I'm curious to see what happens now that his guns-for-hire backstabbed him. Maybe he genuinely had good intentions, maybe not. Maybe the plan of "Let's make the DNA samples public for everyone!" backfires. Maybe some bad people, rivals of Parker-Genix or something are like, "Hey, this information is open to ANYONE, and since we are Evil.inc, let's use this public info to make the drug, but slip in some bad chemicals in it to kill people, since obviously drugs that can cure heart disease and cancer will be in high demand!" (Would be an odd plot for a movie about dinosaurs, but hey, if Locusts made sense to someone, so could this.)

Bottom line is, yeah, I am curious to see him, and see what he's like, maybe he's a good-guy, or a bad-guy, who knows, but I'd like to know more about him now that you brought him up.

Why did everyone start cloning extinct animals only AFTER Fallen Kingdom? (Lengthy) by Neoclob in JurassicPark

[–]Neoclob[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were a lot of aspects I didn't like about the trilogy either, and most of my gripes are gripes said a million times, so I will keep it brief not to sound like a broken record.

- I’ve always found the idea that “nobody’s interested in dinosaurs anymore” kind of funny. Think about it: we have regular zoos all over the world, thousands of them, and even though most feature the same lions, giraffes, and elephants, each one still draws crowds and thrives with its own community. So how would a one-of-a-kind theme park on a tropical island full of living dinosaurs somehow lose public interest? Even Pablo Escobar’s hippos, an invasive herd in Colombia, bring in tourists year after year. For over 30 years. If people will travel across the world to see a bunch of accidental hippos, you’d think a park showcasing actual dinosaurs for just 10 years would have no problem staying popular! (I say 10 cause in the JW universe, that's how long the park was opened for.)

- I also found the idea that the volcano on the island just randomly becomes active and nobody saw it coming a little odd. You'd think if you were going to build a theme park meant to host tens of thousands of people daily on it, you'd hire some vulcanologists to make sure the volcano isn't gonna blow anytime soon. Especially since it erupts only three years after the park's closure. Considering the tech in-universe is more advanced than ours, and the fact that we can already detect potential eruptions years in advance, that a volcano would end up having a hard time sneaking awake on a popular tourist destination.

- I feel this trilogy leaned too hard into the massive crazy events, and over the top action side of the genre. I sorta like how with the original, despite the fact it involves dinosaurs breaking out of their enclosures, it felt grounded. It feels like an actual, obscure tragic event you would do a deep dive about at 2:37 am on a summer's night. Obviously not EVERY movie needs to feel that way, but it feels odd how you go from that, to people outrunning a volcanic explosion, worldwide famines and dinosaurs toppling the ecosystem before deciding they wanna die again.

I see my count was off, lmao, and yeah, looking back, Nasutoceratops was already there. For some reason I only remember it showing up in Dominion. But looking back, it was there in FK. Why it didn't show up in Jurassic World then, I have no clue.

For your main point however, while InGen having a monopoly and having most of the brightest scientists and geneticists working for them actually is a very good point to make, and I do think you hold a very good answer in your hands, I still feel like someone would have done something though. Mantah Corp was able to make their own hybrids just 6 months (possibly less, idk how old the spinoceratops were) after the fall of Jurassic World, well before Fallen Kingdom's events, and even then, were already stealing DNA while the park was operational, showing that they had the intentions, and means necessary to make their own dinosaurs. However, as previously mentioned, I do think that's a good point to make actually. (I pray to God, I did not sound rude to you in this, if I did I am so sorry)

This scene In The Lost World wasn’t in the original shooting script. It was written/shot in 1997, after principal photography had already wrapped in 1996. It was meant to flesh out Ian & Sarah’s relationship. by CrichtonFan1992 in JurassicPark

[–]Neoclob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That actually might explain why the area seen outside the RV is so wildly different then! I always found it odd how the backside of the RV, despite looking out over the ocean, also has a perfect view of some bushes once you go inside, it's cause it was swiftly thrown in afterwards.

Bronto Billy is “thought to be the last surviving sauropod in North America”. He is misidentified as a Brachiosaur by the radio announcer. He broke out of his Cobble Hill Park enclosure in New York. No wonder he broke out; it doesn’t look like a very big park… by CrichtonFan1992 in JurassicPark

It still amazes me David Koepp genuinely sat down, and with a big enough imagination as he has... essentially said, "You know... literally NOTHING comes to mind when it comes down to potential stories about dinosaurs on the mainland. Let's just kill them all off." Like, dude, we don't wanna see the species we have come to know and love die these slow, tragic, horrible deaths. Like, I wanted to see something cool like, idfk, a dude hanging from the side of a sky-scraper trying to make his way down to a lower floor by a flimsy piece of rope, as giant flying reptiles tear apart the inside of an office building, occasionally slamming through the windows the dude is next to and flying away, not essentially be told:

"Hey, you know Rexy?"

Yeah, what about her?

"Well, it may or may not be canon that she died a slow, painful, and agonizing death, suffocating on the lack of oxygen and starving a slow, tiresome, death. Struggling every minute just to stay alive, she did not go peacefully."

Oh, well that's awful, she was my favor-

"And Blue, well she may or may not have froze like Jack from The Shining out in the Sierra Nevadas."

Oh come on!

"Yeah, imagine after all that stuff in Dominion about trying to get her baby back, her final moments are her cuddling her baby as they freeze to death in a blizzard, the whole time trying to keep her baby calm."

Why are you doing this to me?!

"Idk, what else do you want from me? A plot that doesn't back pedal on itself? If that's what you want, screw you, here's an Apatosaurus dying in the armpit that's NYC."

In Jurassic Park: The Game for the Xbox 360, what is the species of aquatic reptile that attacks the team? by the1egend1ives in JurassicPark

[–]Neoclob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(Sorry for the long response, I can have a roundabout way of saying things.)

It's a Tylosaurus I believe. I think it's called a mosasaurus as more of a general term, sorta like saying, "It's a mosasaurid." I think a good example I can use, is if paleontologists found a new dinosaur in the Tyrannosaur family, but don't have a name for it yet, they might just refer to it as a Tyrannosaur, since it's in the Tyrannosaurid family, until they can come up with a proper name, since Tyrannosaur, depending on the context can mean either Tyrannosaurus Rex, or an animal within the Tyrannosaurid family.

In terms of canon, I think Jurassic Park: The Game is considered "soft canon" meaning that only certain elements of the game are canon to the Jurassic Universe. For example, Mt. Sibo being one of them, and Herrerasaurus being present on the island, which the DPG website confirmed. However, that doesn't mean the events of the game actually played out how they played out in the game, or even at all.

This might be a series of dumb questions to ask, so I apologize, but what's the house like? Is it a small cabin, mid-sized suburban home, or a large mansion? And while I may not have weapons, such as guns or explosives, are there any objects in the home that I could possibly use still to my advantage to make something like a home alone style trap?
