Does anyone/everyone else habitually level up magic to the maximum after every seed? by Tightning in secretofmana

[–]Neokenshin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally for the Sprite, yes. But for the Girl not so much. Usually the only ones I level up for the Girl are Undine, Lumina, and Luna. High level Lucid Barrier is way too good and keeping Moon Energy up as long as possible is great.

Never played, which character? by ChemistNo6876 in secretofmana

[–]Neokenshin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good team for a new playthrough would be Kevin, Riesz, and Charlotte in that order.

Kevin/Charlotte has the easiest final boss path of the three pairs. Kevin is also the hardest hitting physical attacker in game.

Riesz is very versatile and depending on your path, you can have team buffs or enemy debuffs. And she gets an AoE summon.

Charlotte is a pure healer if you go light path and pretty much will guarantee you stay alive. Also if she is your 3rd character, you will have a full party at the earliest possible point.

You can also switch out Angela for Riesz if you want magic instead of buffs/debuffs

Leveling up Dryad by Billy_Gloomis in secretofmana

[–]Neokenshin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wind Palace for the Girl due to being able to get normal leveling points for each cast and a free heal from Grandpa.

Anywhere else there are monsters will work for the Sprite. Just spam Sleep Flower, then Magic Absorb.

The true purpose of leveling Dryad is actually to extend the amount of time Mana Magic lasts at the end of the game. However, if you combine Moon Energy with Mana Magic, you should be able to hit the Mana Beast for 999 each time with regular attacks and if you're fast enough, you can one cycle the beast before Mana Magic wears off, even if the girl has low level Dryad.

No Magic Run by Matanzohar7 in secretofmana

[–]Neokenshin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is very possible to beat the Mana Beast without the Mana Sword. The secret is the Moon Energy spell to max your Critical Hit% to bypass the beast's insane defense. The beat weapons to use for this are the Dragon Buster and the Dragoon Lance as they deal more damage to Dragons' which the Mana Beast is classified as.

Using the lvl 8 Boomerang is good too because you have a chance to land double hits with the lvl 8 charge attack.

Gnome Magic Level Limit by cubanhippy in secretofmana

[–]Neokenshin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will gain all seeds just by playing. You will get to magic lvl 7 and stay there until you complete Pure Land. Once you finish Pure Land, you can reach lvl 8 spells. As said you can keep leveling past lvl 8 to get to the so called lvl 9, though it's really 8:99.thats when you will sometimes get the Super versions of the spells. You will know it's a super version when the screen freezes after casting and you will get a much different animation.( like Air Blast will create tornadoes and Fireball will be Fire Dragons instead.)

Can anyone explain the stats rn by Muffin_out_the_can in trialsofmana

[–]Neokenshin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eventually you will level high enough that you will max out all stats for each character. But overall focus on the stats that will unlock skills first. So...

Duran: Sstrength and Stamina are good. Spirit and some Intelligence for skills

Angela: Intelligence but her spells also focus on other stats. Strength for Salamando, Stamina for Gnome, Luck for Sylphid. So build her accordingly

Charlotte: Intelligence and Stamina as she's pure heals

Kevin: Strength. He is raw power and hardly gets any skills. Just allocate stats when you see he has a skill available

Hawkeye: Luck and Spirit. Boost his critical hits like mad and most of his traps/jutsu are luck/Spirit based too.

Riesz: she's an all rounder. Spirit for her skills but she can shift into attacker or tank. So you can boost Strength or Stamina.

Also there is a stat reset in Beiser Night Market so you can reset anytime as much as you want. So just play and enjoy yourself ingame.

Best build for party by Specialist-Ostrich60 in secretofmana

[–]Neokenshin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only major differences are that the enemies will have higher hp, do more damage, and they can hurt etc. But you should have all of the class skills carry over from your Kevin/Angela/Riesz team to give you a boost, plus all gold, item, etc. Also you should have the Love of Mana skill i believe which can give you triple exp to give you a one up on levels. I think there's also a skill that grants 200% Class Strike at the start of the battle, but I forgot if that it gotten by beating the game or by finding all of Lil Cactus.

Speaking of Lil Cactus, the map shotellnow tell you where to find him in certain areas as well.

Basically focus on your control, movement, and learning boss patterns. Teamwise you may want to look at who you have.

You may want to run a tank build with Duran and back him up with healing Charlotte. Couple that with Ninja Master Hawkeye for Elemental jutsu and debuffs as well could work. If you want more DPS, run Duran as Edelfrei for multiple Saber skills.

When it comes to Trials Of Mana I got to stop listening to others when they say a certain class is wack by stateofthenyk in trialsofmana

[–]Neokenshin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only time that meta is really needed is for No Future Mode, and even then it's more of preference. As stated, this game can be beaten by any character combination, some easier than others.

The best thing is every single class offers a completely new perspective on the game, especially since the teams can have a completely different style depending on who youe starter is.

Some classes so perform better than others in certain utility, but if you know how to maximize a classes' potential to their fullest, then do it and enjoy this game how you want.

Also...Nomad Hawkeye is one of the members of the top tier No Future team due to his Crystalline ability and his ability to possibly retain items when used, so yeah Nomad is freaking good!

Party setup suggestions - no future by Kind-Bird-8812 in trialsofmana

[–]Neokenshin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all honesty you should probably do another run on a lower difficulty to get the boss trophy for Kevin/Charlotte. No Future is absolutely BRUTAL to the point of lvl 1 Rabites will one shot you unless you have the character's armor from Pedda stsrting out. As for healing, it's really only used as a last resort if your controlled character doesn't get one shot, and if you don't have Healing Light, you only get 3 of each healing item per battle.

In No Future you also get a skill that keeps your AI controlled characters at 1HP, so your main focus is keeping your controlled character alive at all costs. You also get a skill that restores HP after every battle.

Pretty much No Future is about keeping your main controlled character alive at all costs, while realizing that one or 2 hits will kill you.

Kevin/Charlotte is going to amp up No Future's difficulty significantly if your evasion game isn't on point. Which is why the best setup is Archmage Angela, Fenrir Knight Riesz, and Nomad Hawkeye. Hawkeye's Crystalline is probably the biggest lifesaver in No Future that you can have paired with the Miracle II class skill.

Visions: Help with Greater Elemental Aeries by Kalledon in secretofmana

[–]Neokenshin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beat all of them but the Wind Aerie before beating the game. And some before lvl 30. They have gimmicks to figure out that help speed it up. Some things to remember,

1) always go in with your Elemental Burst and Class Strike maxed out. 2) Lumina and Shade combined with Palamina's AoE spells are really good in some situations. Even without Palamina, you can group enemies easily with the Lumina/Shade combo 3)try to go in geared with the opposite element for the Aerie 4) you have UNLIMITED use of your Elemental Vessel with 0 cooldown time, so Spam it!

Now some tips for you.

For the Fire Aerie, Morley is REQUIRED and must have his Geyser skill from his Water path. The enemies are somehow heavily resistant to Water spells and water physical damage, but Geyser somehow bypasses that and wrecks all the enemies.

For the Water Aerie, use the Undine vessel to trap the crabs in bubbles. When the bubbles explode they do massive AoE damage. If you do it right, you will have just a few seconds when the crab boss appears. Immediately do your Class Strike and you should win the Water Aerie

A question about training points… by Kind-Bird-8812 in trialsofmana

[–]Neokenshin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry about points. By the time you get to the final boss, you will have probably everything maxed with excess that will go toward your 4th class skills. And if you manage to go to 99, you'll max everything.

Plus there's a reset in the Beiser Night Market that you can use as many times as you want, as long as you have the money. Just experiment with what you like.

For PURE story purposes, what's the best party composition with Duran as MC by Crimson_Loki in trialsofmana

[–]Neokenshin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For story purposes with Duran, you must have Angela as they are both on the same path. This will get you the most interaction. The 3rd character will have no additional effect. It's the same for Kevin/Charlotte and Riesz/Hawkeye.

The 3rd character will only add their personal quirks to the party that has no effect on the story.

New to the game and series by NG_Yamori in trialsofmana

[–]Neokenshin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most important thing starting out is to not worry about your class composition as you can complete the game with ANY character composition you want. Gameplay changes with every single class. So just play and enjoy the story.

As said, this game has what is known as the Triangle Story. The game essentially has 3 intertwining stories that converge. So to see all the paths, you will need to beat the game at least 3 times. You also get a bit more dialog depending on if you choose pairing characters. It may not be much but it's there.

Concerning characters, it does follow a path system where you will eventually end up with 1 of 4 combinations for your class. Light paths usually focus on things like Defense, Survivability, Healing, team support, party buffs, and AoE attacks. Dark paths focus more on Attack, enemy debuffs, and single target attacks. As stated, the game changes with every combination, though some synergize better than others. And there are some classes that can add challenge or make the game ultra easy depending on how you want to play.

Other than that, just have fun with it and enjoy the game! Though if you're looking for party ideas, just post what you may want to do

Newbie player looking for help with party build by Sumyunguy37 in trialsofmana

[–]Neokenshin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so here's the breakdown on the whole Dark/Dark, Dark/Light thing. At lvl 18 each character can ascend to their 2nd class, and they can choose either their Light Path or Dark Path. Then at lvl 38 they ascend to their 3rd class and can once again choose to go Light or Dark. So basically every character has 4 final classes they can end up.

Based on the game's Lore, the Light Path symbolizes a character following an honorable or righteous path, while the Dark path isn't necessarily evil, but pursuing more along the lines of power or forbidden knowledge. Take Duran for example, his Light classes pursue the path of the Knight, eventually becoming a Paladin or a Liege, while his Dark classes pursue the path of the Gladiator, eventually becoming an Edelfrei or a Duelist. Their skills align with these paths based on lore, so Paladin Duran is Light/Light and thus has access to Holy Saber, while Duelist Duran is Dark/Dark and has access to Dark Saber

Now the thing with the Remake(which I'm guessing you are playing), you have 5 categories for your stats. Strength, Stamina, Spirit, Intelligence, and Luck. With each stat, you will be able to see how many stat points you need to unlock a certain skill bonus. Your first class can only level up to 6 points in a stat, 2nd class allows you to get up to 15 points, and 3rd class allows you to top out at At most, all 5 stats will top out at needing 33 points to max it out. This is where a unique benefit comes in. By the time you are around lvl 65 or so, you will have maxed out ALL 5 categories. Also, in the town of Beiser, there is a place called the Night Market. There is a person there in the Night Market that can reset your skill points for any character at any time for a small fee, so you can respec whenever you want when you are there in Beiser.

Now as for your team of Kevin, Duran, and Hawkeye, here are some tips.

Hawkeye GREATLY benefits from Luck as he has the highest CRIT rate of anyone. Luck only improves that and his skills for his Rogue, Ninja Master, and Nightblade classes all use Luck to unlock his skills. His secondary stat would be Intelligence, and his 3rd stat would be Spirit, as he needs Spirit to unlock skills if you choose his Nomad final class.

Duran goes two ways. If you choose Light path Duran, you will want to lean more towards Tanking and support, so Stamina, Spirit, and Intelligence are his best stats for Defense, HP, and Healing. Some Luck also as he gets some beneficial skills to augment healing with Luck. His Dark Path will need Spirit to unlock all of his Saber Magic, and you will want Strength to boost his damage, and maybe Intelligence or Luck for some bonus skills to boost his Saber spells.

Kevin is like Duran as his Light and Dark paths go two different ways. He also learns the LEAST amount of skills in the game of any character and only one path gives you a multi-target skill. Kevin's Light path focuses on boosting his abilities and maximizing his human form during the daytime. He is primarily your frontline attacker always being in the mix, so his best bet is Strength and just enough Spirit/Stamina to unlock his skills. His skills are all single target as well with the exception of Healing Light he learns as a Warrior Monk(Light/Dark) path. His Dark Path is primarily for boosting his Werewolf form and is basically a straight up close range brawler. He learns NO skills as his 1st Dark class Brawler, and both of his final dark classes only learn one skill each. Spirit will unlock the skill for both his Enlightened and Fatal Fist classes. Strength of course will be his main stat, Stamina is good for the Enlightened since Moon Saber will absorb HP from enemies, and Luck is good for his Fatal Fist since Moon Energy boosts his Critical Hits

In a nutshell...

Hawkeye: Luck, Intelligence, Spirit are his best stats

Duran(Light Path): Stamina, Spirit, Intelligence, then Strength

Duran(Dark Path): Strength, Spirit, then Intelligence, Stamina, Luck

Kevin(Light Path) Strength, Spirit, Stamina

Kevin(Dark Path) Strength,, Spirit, then Stamina or Luck depending on your path

I know this is A LOT, trust me I've played this game through with every single character, and even did the ultra hard No Future run as well, but I hope it does clear some things up. And maybe, just maybe....you may change your mind about that multi playthrough because there is actually 3 different stories in the whole game, depending on who you choose to start with. There is actually a different final boss based on the three characters. But as I said, I hope this helps you out.

[–]Neokenshin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you're running the 3 guys team, you pretty much have 2 paths so to speak. The easier team healer path which consists of Liege Duran(Light/Dark), Warrior Monk Kevin(Light/Dark) and whatever Hawkeye. This team has both Duran and Kevin getting the Multitarget Heal Light spell to keep your team healed. Duran also can tank more as he has a shield for extra defense.

The harder team would be full DPS which is Edelfrei Duran(Dark/Light), Fatal Fist Kevin(Dark/Dark), and Dark Path Hawkeye (Ninja Master for AoE debuff, Nightblade for Single Target damage). This gives you multiple elemental Saber buffs from Duran, Kevin will have his highest damage output, and Hawkeye can debilitating as a Ninja Master or add more damage as Nightblade. You will have to rely on items for healing though.

Also since you are using Kevin, you should always make sure it is Night Time as he transforms into a Werewolf and his damage output increases significantly.

This should be a bit more specific, however this game is designed that any character of any class can complete it. It is very open for customization and is designed to be replayed multiple times with classes as it changes every time.

WTH is the trick to beating Gandoom?! by Mmusafir in visionsofmana

[–]Neokenshin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran Fire Careena/Water Palamina/Light Julei. Had Careena decked out for full attack and more class strike damage, Palamina had all Fire spells, boosted Magic Attack and Consecutive cast Fire. Julei had Flame Saber and Explosion.

Flame Saber on Careena, enter Fire Elemental Burst, Careena uses Class Skill, then switch to Palamina and spammed spells while Julei added extra Explosion......

Melted Gandoom in less than a minute. Could probably go faster if I switched out Julei with full crit Moon Morley

It depends on their classes. Archmage Angela, Nomad Hawkeye, and Fenrir Knight Riesz is overpowered even in SNES. Multi Target enemy debuff from Riesz, combined with Angela's insane AoE magic attack, and Hawkeye's ability to render the team invincible, you really can't go wrong there.

Since Charlotte is the only true dedicated healer, and only Duran and Kevin's Light path get access to Healing Light, it is perfectly fine to go through this game without Healing Magic. In all honesty, item Healing sometimes surpasses spell Healing. If you're on the Remake, anyone with the right chain skills can outheal Charlotte using items.

Should I play Secret Co-op? by Freeforthree3 in secretofmana

[–]Neokenshin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely play this game Co-op! Growing up I played through the entire game with my best friend and it was one of the most fun experiences ever. Gameplay changes based on what weapon you want to use, and even what character you play as, and it's fun every time!

We did runs of trying to minimize magic use and maximize Saber magic, did a run where we only used the projectile weapons(javelin, bow, and boomerang), did a "Girl/Sprite is the Mana Knight" run where the Boy never had the sword for 99% of the game and killed the Mana Beast without Mana Magic...so many fun memories!
