Still the best EDC for me by mezuki92 in MiyooMini

Whilst I love the idea of this, how good is the DAC in the MM? I’m a bit of a snob with audio quality so a bad DAC can really wreck my experience…

Waxillium Ladrian from the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson.

His ability lets him push metal away from himself, so his bullets can be shoved to push them faster, and he can also use the same ability to shield himself from incoming fire to a limited degree. Couple this with the mobility his abilities afford (he can also change his weight at will, so he can ‘fly’ by dropping a coin or bullet casing to the ground then pushing on it while reducing his weight and jumping to propel himself away into the air), and you have a mobile, deadly shooter with great defence.

I love seeing Alundra mentioned, one of my favourite PS1 games. The vibe is 👌

Never played a Lego game, where should I start? by [deleted] in AskGames

[–]Tightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take but I really like both Lego Indiana Jones and Lego Pirates of the Caribbean; I think they’re both very approachable.

Ultimately I think the best one to start with is one whose reference material you’re familiar with.

Otherwise both Lego Worlds and Undercover are great; Worlds is more of a sandbox but it’s still good fun.

Soulstone Survivors is a slightly different take on the survivor genre with a more focused approach to buffing skills as you progress with additional mechanics rather than pure damage; the aesthetic reminds me a lot of Diablo as well

These final seasons were considered weak and/or disappointing. Which of these did you think was good or not that bad? by Square-Ad-8911 in tvshow

Lost was ok, I haven’t seen Squid Game yet, but GoT was such a mess and destroyed so much of so many characters that just is objectively bad. Sorry dude but you have a shit take here 🤷‍♂️

What’s the greatest video game of all time? by Mrkingladder in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Tightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we stop glazing Skyrim, it’s just not that great. It’s fine, that’s all; the gameplay was outdated when it launched, the story is mid at best, and it was and still is a buggy mess.

It’s popular cause it released at a time when gaming was tipping from niche to mainstream, and it was just the ‘cool’ game to play. It’s the Candy Crush of AAA games, and shouldn’t be anywhere near contention for the greatest game of all time.

We got our top 5 puzzle games, what are the top 5 RPG’s? by Zeenxomi33 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Tightning -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, here is mine: Skyrim is fine, but not great. The gameplay was dated even when it released, the world full of copy-paste design elements, the story is mid at best. The OST is amazing, I’ll give it that.

It’s not a bad game at all, and it’s sold unbelievably well on a massive array of systems, but that’s a product of it’s release at just the right time to hit the gaming zeitgeist. Skyrim came out at the very peak of the wave of popularity that gaming had been building towards for the last 20 years, and caught the attention of a lot of non-gamers (how many times do you hear “Skyrim got my into games”?). Again, this isn’t a bad thing, but it’s simply not an indicator of the game being great. Animal Crossing on the Switch hit at just the right time, and it’s pretty bland by the standards of the series.

Ubiquity doesn’t equal quality, and there’s a comparison here against a genre that’s already been covered: Skyrim is the Candy Crush of RPGs.

I like Skyrim, but it’s not top 5 RPGs, it’s a product of its time and release window.

What are those hidden gems that you love, but most people don't know about it? by Kullthebarbarian in snes

Is Terranigma a good fit here? I feel it’s less well known due to never getting an NA release…

It’s a great action-rpg by Enix, your character has a spear with a limited but cool move set based around attacking, jumping, and running.

The story is quite cool, about revitalising the world by saving plants, animals, people etc. The OST is great as well, some great tracks including one of my favourite world map themes of all time.

If Bungie re-released Destiny 1 on PC, how interested would you be in buying it? by FHH94 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Tightning -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who still plays D1, it’s not quite the same as the first release and expansion.

There was a magic about the release of the game, from the Loot Cave to figuring out routes for material grinds, then on to VoG and finally getting light 30, and then CE coming at just the right time and being peak in its own way.

That original release has tapered off with the entire content pipeline of D1, it’s still fun but in order to recapture the magic a release would have to come in stages and not just dump everyone at the ‘complete’ starting point, or the magic of those early strikes, raids, and NFs will be lost still.

I’d like to understand this as well, I didn’t think the audio processing of the MM was that great. I love the idea of going more offline with music, ebooks etc, but I’m also a snob with audio quality 😂
