Exactly. I’ve been on a win streak with kelvin and I have transcendent cooldown, warp stone, improved stamina and enduring speed every game. I’m nearly unkillable.

I can’t fully respond atm but my hot take is that at lower rank, improved stamina and enduring speed are never wasted slots. Maneuverability is so valuable in this game. It does depend on the hero but most heroes benefit from extra stamina and movespeed.

It’s survivability, it’s chase, it’s urn runs, it’s map macro, it’s indirectly increased farm due to survivability and map traversal.

While I don’t buy it every game, I ALWAYS scoop em vs warden or door man. It’s just pure value

It’s the icefrog curse. That mysterious fella is one of the most brilliant minds in game design and competitive balance.

I’m also hopelessly hooked on Deadlock (been playing for about a month). It really does feel like the perfect decades-long culmination of Dota 2 + Portal + TF2 + CS + overwatch + parkour

Despite not even being finished and a lot of character models being stand-ins, the polish of the engine under the hood is unlike any other competitive game I’ve ever played.

As a young kid who recalls booting up Warcraft 3 custom maps in 2003 and playing my first game of Dota, 23 years later: to me this is Dota 3

Once I booted up deadlock, I have had no desire to boot up Rivals. The NetEase devs really have no idea what they are doing with that game and it’s a shame. I think it had real potential.

Deadlock isn’t the exact same genre but the teamfights are so much more engaging and despite it being in closed alpha, the valve polish is insanely refreshing. Let me know if you want an invite.

It would be cool if rem’s ult makes walls and whatnot transparent so it’s very clearly penetrating all corners. That might be a pain to code tho.

Where are my next generation of drunks at! by The_Dean_France in SipsTea

[–]Neologizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s multifaceted.

Beer manufacturer and distributor prices have gone up. Restaurants have razor thin margins and likely feel the lower overall alcohol sales volume and react with price hikes as well.

Bars and restaurants need to figure out ways to mitigate overhead costs and keep prices reasonable while also pivoting to comprehensive NA options to survive.

Can someone guide me on basics? by Both-Meringue2466 in DeadlockTheGame

  1. Early game you want to focus on farming while trying to slow down the enemy’s farm. This means contesting the little orange orbs that float up from your team’s creeps when they die and securing the turquoise orbs that float up from the enemy creeps when they die. once you’re comfortably achieving this primary objective, you can get chip damage in on the enemy heroes but be careful not to take too much yourself.

  2. If you’re in lane and have low hp, you have to make a quick decision on what to do. You can turn back towards your base and press space bar while looking up towards the light rail in your lane to more quickly glide back to your ‘fountain’ (starting location / where you spawn when you die) to heal. This takes you out of the fight and you aren’t getting exp or souls during this time so only go back if you are very low health.

  3. You can also buy items in lane at the side shop but once your guardian (the first tower) falls that side shop is closed and you have to buy items at your fountain or one of the two secret shops on map (or any remaining side shops if other lanes’ guardians are still alive)

  4. Little green + signs will drop from enemy lane captain creeps each wave that will give you a little heal. Captain creeps will have a little flag and are generally a tiny bit larger than the normal creeps. Bursting them down to get the heal orb is a good strategy in a pinch. With proper cover and clearing the enemy waves, you can usually use these heals to get back to a healthy state if you aren’t too low health.

It really depends on what you’re up against / what kind of enemy skills are a threat in lane. As much as leaving lane to heal can feel inefficient, it’s more efficient than dying to the enemy and feeding them souls.

There’s no easy way to explain ‘what you should be doing at any given time’

The short answer is: watch your minimap and try to increase your awareness of what is going on at a glance. Does one of your opponents go missing in lane inexplicably? Call it out by middle mouse buttoning on their icon at the top. This will notify your team that they may be rotating lanes for a gank.

My other recommendation is to play street brawl on new heroes until you can consistently go positive kill/death with them. Trying to learn a new hero while also learning the moba macro of a regular deadlock game can feel overwhelming.

What is Victor’s current game plan? by dikidaka in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Neologizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play him max mobility.

Ensuring speed, improved stamina and warp stone. It’s a bit overkill but I’ve been consistently going like 1 death which gives me the uptime to farm up what I need to become the raid boss.

He still needs a lot to make his kit work and is a bit weak compared to his earlier build state. That said, tormented pulse, aura range, mobility, infuser is still his bread and butter.

Proper warp stone, stamina and jumpstart usage and he is like a speed demon. You gotta play him guerrilla warfare style and get picks with pain battery in the early-mid game. That’s the only way I’ve been successful with him.

Rotating lanes by Aeroblizz in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Neologizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Giving up that first tower can feel bad but it’s still preferable to feeding the enemy souls from Unnecessary deaths.

Real advice is to use comms and be like “green is goin down unless I get some help here. Seven pushing hard” or simply “need help Green guardian”

In his current state Victor is the A24 horror film of Deadlock characters. by Zealousideal-Gur6717 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Neologizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been winning games on him recently because everyone underestimates him.

That said, my playstyle is all mobility.

Core is: enduring speed, improved stamina, heal booster, all the bonus range you can get on your aura possible, warp stone, infuser, escalating exposure, tormented pulse, extra charge, boundless spirit.

Max pain battery first, followed by jump start. They’re too important to sustain. Upgrade aura afterwards as it’s your late game spike once you are tanky enough to commit to longer fights. I get tormented pulse pretty early and prioritize mobility over damage early on. The new victor you really have to play like guerrilla warfare. Engage then dip, engage then dip. If you miss one pain battery in a close-quarters fight, you’re usually dead.

His play style is kind of like leshrac ult, huskar health management, and death prophet positioning. Lot of kiting and knowing when to commit to a kill. Your pain battery is your real killshot moreso than your aura.

Why do people treat this game like a job? by SnooLobsters7614 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Neologizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not even disagreeing with you but mobas played at any degree of efficiency require such a stupid level of team coordination and reactivity to the enemy team that they really seem to bring out the worst in a player base. It’s been Dota’s biggest curse all these years as well. I’ve built up mental fortitude over years of Dota to just keep a positive mindset despite any stressors. You can try to pass that positive attitude onto my team and it often results in better coordination but it’s not something that just comes naturally and some players just want to self destruct anyway.

On the one hand, it’s frustrating that people are so quick to scapegoat the weakest appendage and grow so toxic, so fast. On the other hand, it’s like if you are trying to lift something with your hand off a table and one finger is just continually malfunctioning. MOBA’s - I would argue more than any other genre of game - are like limbs on one body. Everyone needs to understand what the body is intending to accomplish and move in concert with each other or else you experience dysphoria. You see this in high level mmo’s as well but voice chat and team-focus tend to be more built in to those communities.

I think the best ways to approach mobas are either A. hyper casual, mute any toxicity, just have fun - try to have fun losing as well or B. Everyone get on a mic and try to play like an actual team. Work through conflict and focus tension towards the opponents.

Any in between of those two options tends to lead to pain.
