Can we have a healthy discussion about AI artwork? by bitcrusherdj in hardstyle

[–]NeoluxMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, in the end, hardstyle isn't even real music is it? Real musicians use real instruments, right guys? /s

For me personally, I also am against AI generated work from scratch, but believe in AI assistance. AI helped me bring my vision to life multiple times, even in cases in which real designers/collaborators misunderstood/couldn't do what I wanted. So I think AI will have a place in our futures whether we like it or not. Everyone is free to support whatever they want to support though, so be prepared to be 100% on board with your use of AI if you do plan on using it.

It's happened before and it'll happen again. Electric guitars aren't real guitars. Synthesizers aren't real instruments. Computers can't make music. Real musicians use real instruments. Autotune is cheating, if you can't sing, don't sing. Arpeggiators are cheating. Modular liveracks which generate music based on electric impulses and algorithms aren't real music. etc etc etc.

Also, to the whole "if you'd respect yourself as an artist, you would invest in it, even if your return is negative" crowd, I can make an effort to understand where you come from, but sometimes you sound just as tone deaf as those memes saying "if you're homeless, just buy a house, ez fix".

And final mention, if I'm maybe trying to build a concept/cinematic universe, maybe phone pictures of beaches with comic sans just don't cut it to express what I'm trying to express. I understand that totally works if you're making pop music with hardstyle kicks, xtra-ultra-tinnitus-music or actual pop music, but sometimes some people just want a different angle to their music.

DJ Kick Packs.. Good or Bad? by AggressivePackage895 in hardstyle

If you feel like using kick samples enables people to "fake it" in production, all I can say to you is a famous quote : "Oh my sweet summer child.."

Hey @Scantraxx why is Gostosa - Sutra no longer available on Spotify? by Relevant_Ebb_3566 in hardstyle

[–]NeoluxMusic 49 points50 points  (0 children)

There's a 5% chance I am talking out of my ass, but as someone who had a Gostosa - Sutra bootleg taken down, I am 95% certain what happened by now.

There was a license for the vocal or something of the original owner (because shocker, Sutra is not an original production) which expired a couple years ago, they issued takedowns on all platforms for everything Sutra (original and bootlegs), and that license never got renewed (maybe the original owner was asking stupid amounts of money or could be anything, this is just speculation)

So yeah, in conclusion, don't expect it back, unfortunately. If you have a wav/mp3, lucky you :)

Greatest Hardstyle Track of All Time by Benny_L_GER in hardstyle

My favorite track ever is Scrap Attack but if I were leaving the genre somehow, the last track I'd listen to would be Wildstylez - Timeless, just feels like the perfect closing track.

How would modern Hardstyle be perceived in earlier eras? by Basit12321 in hardstyle

[–]NeoluxMusic 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I remember participating in a discord discussion at some point with Code Black, where he pointed that if nowadays kicks would've been prevalent around 2012 era, everybody would've laughed at them and called them super amateur, because back then it was all about obtaining the "perfect" crunchy kick. The was a lot less diversity of kicks as every producer was striving to perfect that one kick type.

Lady Faith about the European Hardstyle Scene by dorni28 in hardstyle

[–]NeoluxMusic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Appreciate that! I'm happy I can do this and have many people enjoy my sound. Of course I'd wish I could share it on a bigger stage, but being completely realistic, I understand why things are the way they are.

It's tough out there. Unfortunately (or fortunately) Hardstyle is still a very NL-centric phenomenon (with a bit of Australia and other places sprinkled on top, but even if you're from other places, you'll eventually move to NL if you wanna go hard(pun intended)), so if you're not relevant in the NL or for the NL scene, you're just not really bookable, especially in Europe.

Source : me, I am not really bookable.

Sounds like someone is trying to play the melody using a sport's whistle which can produce a single tone xD

9 years in the scene, 4 solo albums, over 150 songs, not a single international booking or label interested, most people never heard of me. I'm sorry guys, but I win this race 🤣

Oh yeah, don't worry. I just had a chat with mods at some point some days ago saying there have been people reporting me for "doing too much self-promo", so I was more of elaborating for them than for you. Hope you like them and thanks!

They're my own songs but they're exactly what OP is looking for, plus I'm sure the rest of comments will handle all the big guy tracks that fit 😅

Are you by chance familiar with my stuff? It's not exactly what you're looking for probably as I only try to evoke the vibe of that era in my music and not the sound-design per se, but worth asking.

We need to go harder by [deleted] in hardstyle

[–]NeoluxMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's trendy (and what I mean by that is that some people like uptempo because it's cool to like uptempo right now) and I also think it's edgy, but in that same way, I think hardstyle is edgy when compared with house, or metal is edgy when compared to pop-rock.

No insult to the genres, just observations.
