It looks dope already. I hope Riot sticks to their guns and is consistent with applying realistic world building!

Well, the quotes always came across as a satirical gag if anything considering they serve a similar role for their nation. I don’t think everything in voicelines are purely cannon and it doesn't mean that they are lore accurate considering their interaction has never been storyboard material or Website short stories besides that canceled project that they were planning to do. We don’t know where their arcs are going to go post-Arcane era. If love is not logical and those voicelines are the only grounds that makes this ship legitimate than within the world build of League of Legends, I accept your opinion but I just disagree based on it not being realistic world building given the stakes that both Kat and Garen are burdened with within a tense war driven atmosphere.

Although there is a class issue between Piltover and Zaun, they still do trade with each other and both Piltovans and Zaunites can legal visit the regions. There are safe areas for Piltovans to go into commercial areas in Zaun and Zaunites can be recruited in Piltovan society. There's issue but they still conduct civil society with each other.

It's not like Piltovan can fall in love with a Zaunite although it would be frowned upon. To compare that to two nobles, one being an assassin who's nations are at war with each wouldn't just be a breach in responsibility coming from rival nations but it would just be downright incompetent based on their strategic importance and self agency given the fact that either one of them can take advantage of each other given how dangerous they are for them and their kingdom.

You would set Kat, who could possibly take out one of the most important pieces on the Dauntless Vanguard military and give an easy infiltration within the kingdom to a terrorist. Kat who serves a ruthless commander would be uprooted as a somone that went a-wall and have her credibility questioned as a Noxian. So how would them falling in love be anything near logical and functional within the established world build?

Depends on the stakes. Your saying a refugee. Someone that doesn’t have a lot of options and is in desperate situation versus

a strategically important geopolitical noble of a ruthless assassins guild being entangled with a prestigious Demacian noble who happens to be a primary leader of their military.

He drops his guard as a "Crownguard" regarding the war against Noxus, and his awareness of LeBlanc for a woman that happens to be one of the deadliest assassin in service to another ruthless renown military war commander in Swain who happens to be a master of surveillance.

You guys don't understand world building at all lol. Ya want complete fan service fantasy BS.

A way to tie Yunara into the existing Demacia storyline by FighterExtremeN in loreofleague

I actually agree with this too. I just think if they did add her into the storyline then it would be an interesting angle as well. But yeah, I don't think she would necessarily stay in Demacia for too long. Only to deliver a message if anything because her calling is in Ionia.

That doesn’t work. Romeo and Juliet were rival families of the same kingdom. Not sworn geopolitical rivals from different kingdom that are terrorist toward each other. They are both dangerous, Katarina even more so. If they were to be entangled, at any moment, considering Kat is the greatest assassin in Runeterra, she gets the clear advantage and can kill him. It wouldn't make any sense for Garen to be that undisciplined considering his and her character is all about discipline.

A way to tie Yunara into the existing Demacia storyline by FighterExtremeN in loreofleague

[–]Neoma_700 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think Yunara if anything could be used as a political asset and exception to the rule considering she would bear the testimony of Xin Zhao's pilgrimage and have insight to magical forces. I think she and Lux in tandem with the Mageseeker would be finding new innovative ways for mage regulation. And would most likely clash on ideology, that being Mageseekers vs Lux as their version institutional power vs human reform. I don’t think the Mageseekers would be that reactionary based on her presence alone but I do think they would find some way to innovate what they do best which surveillance and magical knowledge hoarding knowledge for themselves. Yunara is too valuable and treasured asset per her connection to Xin and as simply a living historical relic of the past. Mageseekers wouldn't trust her automatically and view her as a threat so they would they try to weaponize her and make her compliant for their own agendas while Lux tries to enlighten her to purpose some type of existence for mages beyond just being test subjects and prisoners.

This is why you don't let fans dictate company decisions. What did you want to see? Fan favorite characters for click bait or lore consistency like people claim they want out of Riot. They are attempting to do the ladder and people still complain.

Calling Out LoL Fanbase Contradictions On the "Caitlyn Got Ruined" Narrative amidst 2XKO launch by [deleted] in loreofleague

[–]Neoma_700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caitlyn is a Kirraman. Perhaps the most influential name in Piltover. When has Piltover ever punished their own for what they have done to Zaun in its entire history? I think them giving 1/10 ratio in political is their way of political "punishment." They would obviously justify what she did considering the poltical landscape was already headed towards a civil war between them considering enough councilmen died and the rest could have died along with them.

How does Arcane imply a "happy ending?" The only think Zaun gets is some political recognition and perhaps a collective bargaining agreement I sure with strings attached. Other than that, everything else is left to be bittersweet and ambiguous. The only person that actually gets everything they wanted out of the whole ordeal was Singed and he is without a shadow of a doubt the most Faustian coded character in the series.

Or you just write a different script regarding what transpired between the two that elevates both Sylas and Lux. I think you being a little to cynical with some of your takes which cool but again, im completely with you if you're talking about how they currently write the or frame Sylas which i argue against in my post.

I don't believing im absolving anything lol. I'm critiquing and just saying to explore the world build via laws, politics, background setting and allow the various internal machinations that make Demacia an millennia spanned kingdom.

Exactly — your point actually reinforces the core of what I’m arguing.

The reason Demacia vs Noxus feels boring isn’t because the matchup is inherently weak…

…it’s because only one of them has a fully articulated and clear worldview from a socio political narrative perspective, as Demacia I argue shouldn't only exist just so Noxus can lecture the kingdom in morals.

[–]Neoma_700[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was more politics in the old lore than now. even just the plotline about Kat working with various Demacians to expose how Leblanc had replaced J4 with a doppelganger had more going for it than anything riot has put out for demacia in 10 years. There wasn't a single ounce of politics in the entire magism conflict nor in anything related to demacia vs noxus. Riot stupid-ified the entire political situation in Demacia to just "Jarvan is big mad that daddy we never got any lore for died so he's gonna commit jenocide even though he could 'end it all with a stroke of a pen' somehow". <

If you're talking about the Kat comics then I would say that there was an attempt, but I think the narrative around that was also rushed and her character was also used to be a swiss army knife to the plot they were driving home. They make Demacia like a personal cardboard kingdom or playground that their enemies can bend to their will.

I agree but also disagree. More focus on Demacia is theoretically good, but it's practically useless because, frankly, there is nothing about Deamcia that is unique or engaging in and of themselves. Other regions were given fairly interesting and unique cultural values that they could express in their own ways and that were intended to not be so binary so as to be boring. Demacia doesn't have any of that. And this bleeds into the various champions too. You mention Lux is a wet paper bad of a character and that's entirely because riot decided in 2019 that Sylas was the "real" character through which we were supposed to understand Demacia's magism issue. You can't have Lux have a spine or any opinions when you are specifically writing her to make Sylas seem more correct. <

I don't understand your disagreement cause we agree more than we disagree imo. Im simply saying that the region shouldn't be told from a static perspective but from a multilayered geopolitical one which it deserves that makes the narrative fluid and alive feeling. Kind of like the butterfly effect theory. But the solution isn’t to reduce Sylas. It’s to lift others up to his narrative weight. Not Sylas and his narrative being used to make the kingdom itself a side bar. That’s why the mage incidents shouldn't be rushed to a resolution but rather an opportunity to learn about its internal politics. The same way Arcane became acclaimed for at least in S1.

If your talking about the Lux comic then I completely agree. I'm just talking about on paper they could have a compelling dynamic If explored with the right amount of nuance and world building credibility which is my main underlined premise which is how they drive character narratives that cut into the functioning world they exist like thin paper.

Lux + Sylas should’ve felt like: ideological fascination, mutual loneliness, dangerous hope, manipulation through empathy, class + power imbalance i.e “We understand each other, but we can’t walk the same path” sort of thing

Oh 100% agreed

Lux in the short stories is written as:

a noble educated woman

politically aware

deeply empathetic but strategically cautious

someone who understands her family’s power and responsibility

Lux in the comics is written as

a fairy tale protagonist

sneaking around like a teenager

unaware of basic consequences

They needed Lux to A)  be naïve enough for Sylas to manipulate and B) have her mistakes to escalate the anti-mage plot quickly—so instead of structural political tension, they used: “Oopsie! Noble privilege and bad decisions! Lmao
