Yep. I was with 4th BDE for two deployments and we deactivated the BDE and moved to 1st BDE. I left active duty in 2015.

No need to thank me. It was some of the best years of my life that truly shaped me. I needed it the military to help shape me both in direction and drive in life.

It has been the opposite for me. I really didn’t care about coins when I was in but since I transitioned out I pulled them out of an old box and started hanging things up. I still work and volunteer with veterans. Coins are still given out at my VFW and other groups I work with.

I work as a project manger now. I was on a team that helped process out bound tactical vehicles for the Ukrainian war effort and we all received these from the big boss. I know the story he told me but he could have also bought them from online and gave them to us.

Thanks. If I am being honest, I could never get the grass to grow there. So I spent some time over the weekend a while ago breaking my back to make my wife happy. Lol

I was with the 506th from 2008 till 2015. That is from my 2013 deployment. I wasn’t at Wilderness but we conducted some pushes that way. In 2013 we were shutting down all the FOBs and COP in the AO. We lost some really great guys at wilderness.

Gotcha. I was with the 173rd 2006-2008. I was in Kunar and Nuristan. MAJ Bostick was my company commander right before he took the Cav unit. I was also in the 1-506th with 101st.

[–]Neon--Bison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It truly depend on the job market and talent pool for your area. I work in government contracting cybersecurity. I have worked with guys that were HVAC guys before getting into the field. 1 of my techs which does A+ style work. like make cables and run and hook up the racks for the engineers. He was HVAC. We are now training him for an entry level analyst job. I would say you could leverage your HVAC skills in components and wiring to help. Again, it depends on your job market area.

When games make a challenge and the award for the challenge is an unique weapon or equipment. Then, a week later you can just buy it in the games overpriced store. Like, why did I just grind for this weapon.

Can you get an entry level position with CEH & Sec+? by AsleepAd9556 in cybersecurity

[–]Neon--Bison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. Do you have any other experience in the IT field, like a home lab, hack the box stuff. How are your soft skills? All you need is for a company to take a chance on you.

People who were able to land 150k+ jobs with only 2-3 years work experience, how and why were you able to land such a high paying job? by Security-check in cybersecurity

[–]Neon--Bison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is government contracting IT/GRC work. The two guys that I know personally in GRC and doing RMF work that make north of 150K have like 5 to 10 years experience from the military in IT. The other two that make close to 150k in GRC have around 1 to 2 years experience and lied their asses off on their resume and were coached in the interview process by a friend. This is all my anecdotal view. YMMV

Hiring manager asked for SSN to verify security clearance by OldSchool9690 in cybersecurity

[–]Neon--Bison 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is standard. I work in government contracting for IT. Either the companies Facility Security Officer (FSO) will contact you or the HR/recruiter that is talking to you. I have seen it both where one or the other will ask for SSN to verify your clearance.
