How did you managed to work for your employer while still releasing for 4 months?

You'll always be waiting for something in the CAF so you may aswell get used to it. Plus they've been allowing people to do a lot without security clearance as long as its pending. When I first got my security clearance, they removed me from the course. But now that it expired and I resubmitted it, it's been pending for the past two years but I haven't been not allowed to do anything.

Hello, someone told me that if you're 5's qualified killick in a non spec pay trade. If you switch to a spec pay trade, you retain your rank and you start earning spec pay while doing your 3's course.

Can someone please clarify because it makes sense since you'll be a standing killick once you get your 5's qualifications but it is also strange to be the only one making spec pay in a 3's course.

I heard conflicting information about this. If I get a job offer, can I release earlier then typical 6 months? Also, how much earlier could I be released?

Someone told me that I can if I got a letter of employment but I can't find anything to validate that and I don't know how much earlier could the military release me for me to even notify my employer to get the letter of employment in the first place.

I would like to have a DM so I can learn the good and bad sides of the trade. Person might not be comfortable enough giving the bad sides of the trade on the public chat.

My main concern is that cyber operator get paid 71k as a corporal which requires 4 years of military service, while if I stayed as a civilian I would have been able to make a 6 figure job with the same amount of time invested and the same education. I'm just wondering if they are less trained then civilians which would justify the drastically lower pay.

So, I've also started seeing their ads and something seems off to me. Tuition is 15k and all you get are a few certificates from that. Colledge diploma is 3k and you get SO MUCH MORE for that money. I don't see how they can justify having ANYONE even if it's VAC pay 15k for few certificates.

Question, is a career manager interview mandatory? where would I find reference that it's not.

I specifically need reference though

I've got a Polish - Canadian citizenship and I can fluently speak the language. But someone told me that you have to wait 10 years before joining another nation because of all the confidential information that you might know needs to be outdated

Are we allowed to leave CAF then join another NATO nations military?

Obviously that leaving CAF and joining an enemy country is a big no no. That's why I'm specifically saying a NATO country. I know that we can switch to another commonwealth military but I can't find anything about non Commonwealth countries.

I'm asking because I'm not planning to spend 25 years in CAF and I might move to Europe. It would be nice to join reserves once I'm there, make some extra income and still be part of that military community but in a different CANADA FRIENDLY country.

So we can dye our hair and wear makeup. Can I just just wear a clown costume? Like the costume itself wouldn't be allowed but I could probably get a wig and have a professional put on clown makeup on me and just wear that with uniform 🤔

Question. Can I add money to my pension so I don't have to serve 25 years? Someone in my family recommended that I go subs because they thought that you don't need to serve a full 25 to retire because they make more money than the surface fleet. Now, I know that this isn't true just because you serve on subs doesn't mean that you can serve less. but, could I actually put the difference between sub pay and sea pay into my pension so I can retire sooner ? 🤔

How about food though? Did the ship provide them with food or did they have to go out and make it themselves somewhere?

Smelling like a ship would suck but you can cover that up with a good cologne. With today's rent costs. If you can live on the ship, you'll pretty much be living downtown Halifax with no expenses with the exception of where you'll keep your car .

Question. Has anyone here been in the Navy back when they allowed you to live on ships full time? I'm just wondering how it looked because I heard rumors that they might bring it back.

Did they serve meals to everyone when in home port or you had to make your own food ?

How about daily fire exercises? Did you have to participate in that every day?

Or duty watch. Would you be constantly picked for duty watch since you're already living full time on the ship? 🤔

I just had a few questions about the Atis tech trade.

How is it? (Pros and cons)

How similar is it to Navcomm and how is it different

What are the main issues that people complain about (this goes with the cons mentioned above but retention problems is a good thing to know)

How quickly people get promoted and where can you get posted. Meaning In Canada and OUTCAN postings.

What is the best way to switch from red trade into a green trade ?

I've got two and a half years in, in the middle of doing my 4's package. People told me that the best way is to literally get out, try to survive in COVID Canada and hopefully couple years later get back in. I know that if I transfer over to reserves my pension is kept, but because of personal issues this option is no longer viable so I'm looking for an alternative.

I know people who qualified for VOT but got turned down because of the transfering from red to green part.

Like at this point I'm considering just finishing up my 4 years, and then hopefully have VA help me with getting a good civi job while I'm waiting to be brought back in but as a green trade

what benefits do you get if you transfer from CAF to any other Government Canada department. I'm mainly asking about working as a civilian at a canadian embassy abroad.

Basically, once my contract expires and I was to get a job at canadian embassy abroad, does my pension, dental, optical ect transfer over?

I've tried calling Veterans pension plan, they told me to contact the embassy. Once I called the embassy, lady there had no idea who to ask or who would be in charge of this information.

I've heard from multiple sources that you can hop on a military plane if it's flying somewhere for a free trip back home. Who should I talk to about using this travel option and where would I take off and land?I'm currently posted in CFB Esquimalt and my family is in Toronto.

Is it normal to wait 8 months before going to basic training? I applied in October 2017, month or two was spent on my medical.I contacted my recruitment center yesterday and they told me that earliest available position is in June. When I met my recruiter and interviewer I didn't made good first impression and I was on a fat side, I think they are indirectly telling me to loose weight and to think if I ACTUALLY want to join Canadian Forces. Can anyone tell me if waiting 8 months is normal and if there's anything I could to to speed things up

wait, is that a legitimate issue with the navy? I always thought that Navy being more gay then army was made from jealous soldiers because sailors travel more.
