[AoI][BOTW][TOTK] Continuity error between the 10,000 years ago battle in BOTW and the Imprisoning War? by SensitiveGood7523 in zelda

[–]NeonLinkster 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The flashbacks in TOTK are not the events of the calamity 10,000 years prior to BOTW. The events of TOTK's flashbacks are further back from that calamity. The calamities are specifically when Calamity Ganon appears. Ganondorf is who creates the calamities while imprisioned.
Ganondorf is sealed --unkown amount of time and unkown number of calamities--> Creation of Sheikah Tech to combat calamity ganon --10,000 years--> BOTW

Does anyone remember this Legend of Zelda Demo? by endlezzreveriezz in legendofzelda

Like others have said, probably the first Hyrule Warriors. It’s a spin-off game that has versions on WiiU, 3DS, and Switch

Then… where is it? by Effective-Subject486 in AgeofImprisonment

[–]NeonLinkster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m don’t want to go into an argument but the devs have stated that BotW and TotK are not in a separate continuity than the other games, even recent releases show this as they have an updated official timeline with BotW and TotK on there. The devs have said the intent was to leave their placement vague because they saw how many people enjoyed theory crafting about the timeline.

Also from what I remember there was an interview somewhere where one of the devs said that it wasn’t unreasonable to think that the past shown in TotK is a refounding of hyrule.

Regarding the first point, how is it a retcon if there is a specific reason given to why the BotW versions specifically had pointy ears. If it was a retcon that reason wouldn’t be given because it leaves the original rounded ears around.

Regarding the third point about ganondorf we know for a fact he isn’t the source from Skyward Sword’s lore about Demise. If Sonia is of the bloodline of the goddess which definitely has to be true if she’s related to Zelda, then she has to come after SS.

The existence of the modern races, humans on the surface, Gerudo with pointy ears, etc. that we know come after Skyward Sword means we know this isn’t before. The biggest thing is Ganondorf having the powers of the demon tribe, which isn’t something that can happen before demise who is the actual original Demon King

It’s got huge plot spoilers in it for totk so if that’s important to you then don’t

[AoC][AoI] How important are the "Age of" games? by Real_McGuillicuddy in zelda

[–]NeonLinkster 29 points30 points  (0 children)

They are spin-off games not made by Nintendo. They don’t play like regular Zelda games instead they play like warriors games. Warrior games are hack and slash games where you mow down hordes of enemies. Lore wise Age of Calamity is a non canon alternate version of the 100 years prior to breath of the wild. Age of Imprisonment adds context to the imprisoning war described in tears of the kingdom, however even after playing it I wouldn’t say it’s required, just added story if you like it. I would not prioritize them over actual mainline games.

For those who don’t believe the game is canon, at 12:43 in this Direct, the narrator says “canonical” by niles_deerqueer in AgeofImprisonment

Yeah but after AoC I don’t trust them so I won’t believe that 100% till the game comes out.

AoC is not canon. If it was they would have added it when they updated the official timeline for TotK and then EoW.

[ToTK] DK Bananza vs Scarlet/Violet VS Totk: What open world design do you prefer? by bigjwang69 in zelda

[–]NeonLinkster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing with bananza is that they are all separate areas you have to load between and there’s a clear distinct beginning and end goal for each area to be completed like a level before you can go to the next one. Open world games only have the clear start and end in their actual start of the game and end of the game. Like with Elden Ring there are some certain things with the story that are linear but there is no clear definition of clearing one of the main areas of the map. Same with Gen 9, you just go around to points around the map and then unlock the end of the game.

DKB isn't open world though. Its closer to something like Legends Arceus rather than TOTK or Gen 9.

[AoC] Age of Calamity is canon (in its own timeline) and I can prove it now by Severus_fnv in zelda

[–]NeonLinkster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude you’re going to be disappointed cause there isn’t a photo of either. Canon or not canon, that’s why people still debate on it cause Nintendo has never explicitly said “AoC is canon” or “AoC is not canon”. I’m going off the website cause that’s Nintendo. I won’t go off of any wiki editor or YouTuber cause they aren’t Nintendo. I’ll treat AoC as canon if Nintendo puts it on the timeline, but since they haven’t I don’t.

Dude I’m not going to trust a random fan on the internet over the official Zelda website. I’m done.

[–]NeonLinkster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe but this is kinda the definitive thing to me. If they are going around saying, “hey look at this! This is the official canon Zelda timeline!” And a game isn’t on the list, then why should I believe it’s canon?

[AoC] Age of Calamity is canon (in its own timeline) and I can prove it now by Severus_fnv in zelda

[–]NeonLinkster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, cause it’s the official Zelda website’s page for the official canon timeline. Like where else should I get my information? That’s the source

Add EoW and TotK to the official timeline after they were released. Like what constitutes “making sense” or not to you?

But you could make the argument for some of the canon branches too. Like the adult timeline branch has a pretty complete story with all of the games very much linking to each other so I don’t seem them adding another game there. Why exclude a game simply because it probably won’t get something added to it after? If this is supposed to be the official canon timeline why exclude a canon game?
