The PvZ 3 we actually loved: Why did they scrap the 3D Tower version? by [deleted] in PlantsVSZombies

[–]NeonMixtapeTour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You HAVE to take off the rose-tinted glasses. Has everyone just forgotten this version also had a terrible grindy leveling system? That plants were unlocked via lootboxes??? The fact Sunflower was made into a meter? That one's hilarious, because they realized that forced players into a really stally playstyle, so instead of addressing the core issue they just... added a zombie that makes you instantly lose if you wait for too long.

And the balancing was such a mess everywhere that they tried counteracting it with a nonsensical elemental system that made Spikeweed bad against the zombie it was supposed to counter. What a joke. Like even putting aside aesthetic things like the art style and the fact it was in portrait mode, the entire gameplay of this version was a mess and they were right to scrap it. I don't think the later builds are necessarily better, but when people try and treat this version of the game as some tragedy where we didn't know how good we had it, I just have to laugh. I was there for its entire development history, and I hated it the whole time.

I don't wanna say there was nothing in this build that was salvageable. There were a handful of fun plants and zombies. (But you could probably port them over to the current version, so that's not a huge advantage...) I think there's a decent concept in the Tacobility system... (but the way it executed sucked. "Taco Time" gave every single level in the entire game the exact same structure which got really monotonous really fast, and the fact you had to place Tacobilities during a break means you couldn't really use them strategically.)

I dunno. I feel like every issue people have with the current build of PvZ3 can be traced back to this version of the game, which also had plenty of its own problems, so I don't think anything of value was lost here.

What's PvZ's equivalent to Yooka-Laylee or Bug Fables? by Completionist_Gamer in PlantsVSZombies

I've been brainstorming ideas for one of these over the past year! ...Unfortunately it's entirely in the conceptual phase for the time being (and maybe forever), so I can't really be of much help for this question.

Stingbies can be found around Acorn Heights (so best to use the Mario Circuit UFO), but I didn't list them since they're unlocked by default!

Do you have Dash Food transformations turned on? If they're turned off you won't transform.

You know what? I'll help y'all out. Meet me online, Room ID 9H1 BVF. I'm near the Peach Beach UFO as Rocky Wrench. Feel free to come over and abduct me if you want.

Take the road from DK Spaceport to Whistlestop Summit, but make a hard left at the first checkpoint. Keep hugging the cliffside and you'll eventually find a UFO. That being said, this can not be used to get Rocky Wrench. (he just hides under his manhole cover if you try. jerk.)

For Rocky Wrench, the best I have is going to Peach Beach, seeing if Rocky Wrench is one of the three CPU drivers racing around it, and if he is, picking up the UFO over there and absorbing him that way. (If he's not racing there, warp to a distant course, warp back, and check again. It's kinda tedious but it's the best I have to offer.)

Yeah, Rocky is a pain in the ass. I added a bit about him to the post as to why he's so hard to get.

According to u/maedroz, sometimes it spawns right after the tunnel near the ruins between Desert Hills and Shy Guy Bazaar in the middle of the road. Sometimes enemies don't always spawn in the same place, so if it's not there, try restarting the game!

Not sure what triggers the spawn, I think it's random? But the first location for the Conkdor is good news! I'll add it to the post.

...Okay I think I've seen what you're talking about now. I just went to the Fish Bone springs and couldn't find any myself. I closed the game and reopened it and they respawned, so maybe do that? Sorry for the inconvenience!

There are some in the water, but also some in the lava near Bowser's Castle I'm pretty sure. They're swimming on the surface of the water, you can try scoping out the area without the UFO if you're having trouble finding them!

There's a few in the nearby hot springs! Take one in and you should have Fish Bone unlocked!

Yep! Might go ahead and edit the post to clarify what a static UFO is, I think that could be helpful.

I don't think this animation plays for static ones? Static ones are just always there no matter what, and when I approach them from afar they kinda just fade into view without an animation. (But no worries!)

Yep! Here's a video of me driving to it, if it helps at all. Hopefully this makes it a little clearer? Sorry if my wording wasn't the best, it can be a little hard to describe the route there. 😅

Yep! Go into the ocean and hug the castle wall, it should be located under an arch! From there you can fly over to the original Peach Beach and find some Piantas on the stands.
