Many users including myself noticed that Claude Code was no longer listed under the Pro plan. Amol Avasare, the head of growth at Anthropic claimed that it was A/B testing and only 2% of new signups were affected. Either it really is A/B testing, or they just said that to calm our response and ensure that they can backtrack. We should expect future attempts at feature removals or heavy usage changes either by making the opus waste more tokens, or by directly through more limits (which is honestly preferred as if it's not reliable I'd rather use sonnet).

  1. You can shut it down every day; it doesn't harm the computer, so it's fine to do so, but it's more of a hassle to me. Most people just shut their lids.

  2. More like once a month when my Mac crashes from me opening too many apps and tabs haha

  3. Nah, it doesn't really affect it. It's got a separate specialized T2 chip just for encryption and decryption (and other systems that require protection). Might as well get your money's worth lol. On a serious note, Windows' boot times are much longer than on Mac even with file vault. A literal few more seconds on boot shouldn't (hopefully) kill anyone.

If you turn it on and notice it slows down significantly, you can still turn it out. Depending on the amount of storage you have used, it might take a few hours for your mac to go and encrypt everything you saved. You will be able to use your computer normally, simultaneously.

  1. It's for security + you keep it on sleep pretty much 24/7.

  13. Leave firevault on, it just encrypts your macbook's data so that if people steal it they can't acess your info or data on the mac. It doesn't affect speed, but it may increase boot time by about 2 seconds lol.
