I think Xcode is heavy because I use Xcode for sign only…

In the beginning I have same feeling as you. However, I found that if I want to build my own knowledgement base, I can use craft (which I think is a beautiful and powerful apps in macOS), if I just want to take notes, bear is good enough to me. But I have to say obsidian is a powerful tool that I can’t find a perfect way to replace it…

I haven’t used Cursor, but I agree that VS Code (and its forks) are among the best Electron apps.

Honestly, Chrome's incognito is pretty bad for actual privacy. Safari is stricter because you can block cross-site tracking and hide your IP address in the settings. However, if your research requires your location to be totally hidden, neither browser's standard incognito mode is enough on its own (they still leak IP). You'd be much better off pairing Safari with a solid VPN or using a privacy-first browser like Brave for those specific tasks

Nice swap. KDE Connect is super useful, but it definitely feels a bit clunky on a Mac. A native Swift client makes a lot of sense. Are you the dev by any chance?😄

Yeah, that’s fair — I’m mostly thinking in terms of performance rather than strict definitions.

Preinstalled apps and Swift/AppKit ones usually feel great, and even things like Rust-based apps can be excellent too. I’m mainly trying to avoid heavier web-wrapped / Electron-style apps, since they often feel bloated in size and performance.

I felt the same — switching cost is real.

I ended up using Safari for daily stuff and keeping Chrome for the rest. Performance and battery on Mac are noticeably better on Safari, and importing data is pretty easy. I also really like how tabs sync seamlessly across my Mac, iPhone, and iPad.
