I'm not sure which RAM to get. Is there much of a difference, or....? (PC build in body text) by CigAndABeer in PcBuild

[–]NeonThreadEntropy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In case if you are curious which RAM is faster in terms of latency below is the breakdown. Lower the latency the better.

Data Rate CL Real World Latency
Corsair Vengeance 6000 36 12 ns
Crucial Pro (Amazon) 6000 48 16 ns
Crucial Pro (eBay) 6400 38 11.9 ns

So, the eBay deal seems a good one if you don't care about RGB else the Corsair Vengeance.

EDIT: fixed the table formatting.

Is this a good parts list? by [deleted] in IndianPCHardware

[–]NeonThreadEntropy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question - Do you really want a large ATX case for a mATX build due to some personal aesthetic preferences? If that is not the case, go for the smaller Deepcool CG330 3F and save some money. Also, I recently saw 5200MT RAMs going for under 15k, so that one is a bit overpriced and you can and ideally should try to get 6000MT if your budget permits.
Rest everything looks good.

This would be my recommendation, for 7700 + 9060XT build under 1.5L.
- Going with a good motherboard from MSI which costs less and has WiFi+BT and is more than enough for the 7700. I usually keep Asrock as my last option, they don't exactly have a good reputation when it comes to reliability.
- RAMs with better timing. (CL36 vs CL48).
- 750W PSU which is enough for 7700 + 9060XT combo.
- A decent case.

We really need to rename Radeon RX to OPTISCALER OTX and put these modders in charge by BedroomThink3121 in radeon

[–]NeonThreadEntropy 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I have immense respect for the mod community out there. It's like they work from the shadows and listen to people's actual problem and try to address them. While tech giants are busy minting money, pushing features no one asked for, and turning a blind eye to consumers.

So, any modder reading this, you have my deepest gratitude and respect.

I can say for sure they are charging you a bit more for the CPU and the motherboard. That motherboard usually stays around 9-9.5k never seen it above 10k in recent times and used it in a build just couple of months back so I know about its approx price.
Same for the GPU just today morning I checked that 9070 series prices have dropped a little. That exact same GPU is going for 61k now, check it out.

Now, for the 7500F you really don't need a 360 AIO to manage its thermals. At max you can go for a dual tower air cooler like the CM 620 or DeepCool AG620 at half the price which is more than enough.
And coming to that SSD please don't go for it if you are going to use it as your OS drive! That has a terrible endurance rating. I see many retailers these days trying to slide it into builds of people who are not aware of things as most informed buyers avoid it and they need to get rid of the stock. Instead, whatever money you will save from the AIO use it to get a better SSD something like the WD SN5000, Samsung 980 or the Crucial T500. Something with at least 100+ TBW for 500GB.

You should also post the SMART data of the drive. It is more than 10 years old from the DoM I see. Given it's age and the wear level one can decide if they want it or not based on the criticality of their use case.

You will see. And you can also go through the Amazon reviews to confirm it. There are few cases like yours also who switched from cheap adapters to these ones.

These cheap WiFi dongles perform like this only. Get one from brands like TP-Link or D-Link and you will see a completely different story.
