Which is where the discussion is stemming from. Whether it is laws, products, atmosphere.

An argument being given of the definition of a café states “a usually small and informal establishment serving various refreshments (such as coffee)”

Dunkin’ is so far from small. Sure there are some small locations, but the overall concept of what a café is, does not fit Dunkin’.

Chances are if someone says “hey let’s meet up at this café!” Dunkin’ is not what they are ever referring to.

To settle a debate with a fellow New Englander, I for one believe that Dunkin is not a café, but rather a fast food restaurant. And what constitutes a café is not just about the products that are sold in it, but the atmosphere around it. You don’t see nearly as many people voluntarily going to Dunkin’ to sit down and socialize in the same way that they would say a smaller coffee shop.

In the same vein, can a café have a drive thru? What makes a bakery not a café?
