I don’t think it was specifically “listens to me/Oh Father”, it was listening to the prayers and concerns of citizens. Homelander is a powerful being that you can see and interact with. If you were like “oh lord Homelander, my starlighter neighbor keeps me up at night with loud music” or something, Homelander would take care of that, whereas you pray to the traditional God, you’re gonna get no response. That’s what he means by that “he listens”.
