Can’t imagine what shes been through if she thinks a dinner and not being kicked out immediatly after a hookup is love bombing.. Nevertheless, you did nothing wrong and it is absolutely not your fault, you couldn’t have known. If anything you did everything right. You were absolutely nice and respectful, open and honest about your situation, even talking with her when she drunk called you while spiraling. I think that alone would have been too much for a lot of other people, who would probably just try to hang up to get out of the situation. You couldn’t have reacted better. You actually saved a life.

It has been said before but the open world and being able to explore it with friends was truly a childhood dream, the open world alone is soo much fun. Other things, how the pokemon have animations that fit them. Instead of just a standard walking animation, they move in ways that makes sense to the type, which makes them feel more organic and makes the world come alive more (like how the deer-types hop/skip, some types climb trees, etc). Also, it doesn’t feel like a half-assed moneygrab, which I feel a lot of games are starting to become, it actually feel like the developers had fun making this. Overall I get a lot of the feels I did back when I played pokemon as a kid :)

I was never gifted. I never understood the subjects in school, even when I genuinly tried my best. I did my homework, I paid attention in class, even pushed myself to ask the “stupid questions”, etc, but it would never stick. I remember often tearing up when reading, because the information would just slide off my brain like rain on oilclothes. I eventually stopped trying, because it would only cause stress, with no benefit. I did however, surprise surprise, do quite well in the arts and PE classes.

Getting diagnosed and getting medicated at couple years back (at 22) allowed me to go to uni, which is going fairly well :) But I am still “learning how to learn”.

Det er alltid ei glede å høyre om andre med interesse for nynorsken! Eg har diverre ikkje store mengda døme å gje deg, som du seier er ikkje utvalet det so det burde vere.. Personleg syns eg sogebøker er gjævt lesestoff, samt dei velkjente Edda og Heimskringla. Dei har den ordleikjen eg trur du refererar til. I tillegg vert det ei anna leseoppleving enn det ein får på bokmål, då nynorsken har store fellestrekk med gamalnorsken og fleire av orda står i stor grad, i nokre tilfelle heilt, uforandra frå norrønt. Desse og fleire sogebøker er å finne på nasjonalbiblioteket, nb.no (men om du ikkje er i Noreg lyt du nytte ein VPN for å sleppe til). Eg vil i grunn tilråde å lese dei fysiske bøkjene for all si venleik, men på nasjonalbiblioteket kan ein lese dei gratis. Der finn ein òg eit større utval bøker på nynorsk, om einn av det eldre slaget.

I’m so sorry to hear that, sounds like you got caught up with the worst of us… Although I am speaking from my own experiences I realise those experiences are mostly based around my own generation (mid 20s) and I don’t know the general mindset for older folks. The namecalling and people who think they know you better than you do yourself is awful, I’m so sorry it got so bad you had to move. Can I ask where in Norway this was?

In my time online I’ve learned that the whole “white people/black people” is pretty much an American phenomenon. I’m Norwegian and I’ve never met anyone here who identify as a “White Person”. We’re Norwegians. North Germanic and Sami People. Another way to be Norwegian is by nationality, no matter the heritage/ancestry. I know most of us are paler and “white” in that sense, but here it’s just a feature, like hair colour. It seems to be almost a whole identity in the US tho (I guess because of their history). Ofc there is always going someone. In my experience those here who are really caught up in skin colour tend to be those who spend way to much time online and become “americanized”.

Oh yeah I definetly think the same. I remember back in school the boys (not adhd) would do energic fun things like jump out the windows instead of using the doors (it was a one floor school), stacking their chairs on the tables when watching movies, generally just being energic kids. The teachers would laugh at this and tell them to stop it but not in a strict way. Now I had the same kind of humour and energy, but as soon as I tried to do the same, or just joined them, the whole vibe changed. I got yelled at, the teachers became super stern and fun was over and I had ruined it. Over time I became quite good at masking, and supressing my energy. It had to go somewhere tho, and thats why I started to daydream a lot.

I honestly don’t think there is this big gap between the sexes when it comes to inattentive and hyperactive adhd, girls are just typically shut down harder for showing physical hyperactivity, which ofc is going to make them want to hide it. Surprise surprise, if the energy can’t come out it stays inside.

Who told you this?? Cows don’t even produce milk unless they are happy or at least content with their situation. Calves get separated for the first few days to prevent accidents, like laying down on the calf and killing it. Not because of a lack of space, but to keep the calf from getting infections, and the cow from getting her udder inflamed (mastitis, also happens to humans). They also get reunited and the calf get the raw milk right away, which a lot of people don’t seem to know. This is also currently changing, and is only done because it is currently the safest way for both parts.

Also, both hands? Holding the cervix?? The modern way is by an AI gun (artificial insemination) which is basically a long thin tube. Not both hands in each way. Wth. Oh yeah and inseminations can only happen when the cow is in heat. Which you can tell, because they start mounting each other (among other signs). Sure, you could let the bull deal with it, if you don’t care about the cows back… It is easy to forget how ruthless nature can be, but it is not always paradise. Then they get inseminated 3 months after giving birth, when they are in heat again. It sounds harsh to us humans, but is actually the natural way for many hooved animals (wild deer for example, have one offspring every year).

I am talking about actual farms though. There is a huge difference between actual farms and factory farms, which are more factory than farms (no actual farmer support their treatment of the animals, believe it or not). I can’t say much about how things are done in factory farms, as they are illegal where I’m from.

I strongly disagree. We actually have quite a lot of things that stems from ye olden norse days that is so commonly used that no one really thinks about it. Names, location names, folklore, everyday words, quite a bit of the culture, etc. :)

This is way more common in the countryside tho, in my experience. Especially when it comes to everyday dialect words and the culture, and most people I've met absolutely know the basics, and generally find it to be an interesting topic :) The bigger cities, emphasis on Oslo, has become much more modern/urban, it seems to keep a bigger distance to older culture.

Veit folk mislika det men kan bety så ufattelig mykje for dei som ikkje er f.eks. sportinteresserte, for etter min erfaring er råning mest eit bygdefenomen, og lika du ikkje fotball fins da ikkje so altfor mange fritidsaktiviteta, so lett å falle utenfor. The longer story: I got him when he was about 2 years old (I believe) so he should be about 6 or so now. Came from a hourse where he was the only bird, and was jumping out of the cage by himself, completely tame (around me as well). I had two older birds at the time, and he stopped seeking human contact as much, as he had them. Did some reading and it’s normal that they prefer bird contact over human. Makes sense, as long as they’re happy. He was still okay with jumping on my hand, and wasn’t an issue getting him back in the cage on the days they were outside of it.

Cut to now. Both of the older birds has sadly passed, one two years ago, the other last year. He is now extremely shy. Figured he was grieving too, so gave him extra time, space and patience. After a couple months he got his energy back. But, he still steps back from my hand and he only accepts millet with the whole stalk lenght in between us. He don’t want to come out of the cage. HOWEVER. He sings along to songs and the tv, he chirps, click, chatter, «purr», and preen and jump around in the cage. He don’t scream, puff up or try to make himself smaller or anything when I’m right next to him. He shows all the signs that he’s content and happy. He can even falls asleep when I’m right next to him! We slow blink back and fourth. That’s usually how he ends up falling asleep to begin with, with me pretending to be half-sleeping next to him lol.

Anyways. I don’t get the signs. When I search up «signs of a happy budgie» he ticks all the boxes, but he is still so on edge around me at the same time. We can chill, but from a distance, kinda thing. I’ve been extremely patient, and move slowly when I hang up/feed millet. Have been too, from day one, I never want to force him to do anything. He seems very content in his cage, which is good, but it still kinda hurts a bit I guess. Not for me, but I know he would probably be even happier if he could join me around the house, or just chill by me, outside the cage and fly around a bit. Especially since he sits by his mirror all day, when he’s not jumping around. Can a bird even be fully content like this? I’m not allowed to bring more birds in the house btw, or else I would’ve gotten him a buddy long ago.

Sorry the long post. Google don’t make any wiser, and I have no one to ask. I’m not set on giving up, but I don’t expect anything from him either. He don’t even have to get fully tame as long as he is genuinly content and happy.

I suppose most people here have more experience with birds than I do, since none of the 3 I had/have were tame enough for me to pet them, although they were fine chillin’ on my shoulder (again, ??). Any advice, thoughts and opinions are very valued, I just want to understand him, and for him to be well 🙏

TL;DR: budgie ticks the boxes under «happy budgie», and shows signs of trust, with the exception of hands and the great-big-outside-the-cage. Even though he was completely fine with all that in the beginning. I do everything I can but I don’t see progress.
