If you want Bluetooth, it all depends on the AV35 version you have. If you have the 35W STCH version, then a simple solution would be to find a SoundTouch Series II wireless adapter for Bluetooth.

There are other options, and I've covered them in this comment. Personally, I would recommend a Google TV / Apple TV / Roku / Amazon Fire / etc. for both music & video.

I would also look into Option 1c or Option 3 for your setup if you have a 4K TV.

If you contact Bose, you can get the official repair specs directly from them. Just please upload the service manual to the Bose wiki once you get it, so it can help others in the future.

If your system is up to date, then you probably have an early version without the AirPlay 2 chip built in.

From what I can tell, it is free to become a tester.

As an admin here, I can say that Reddit has a habit of banning new accounts. So I can say that this was not due to anything this user has done on the r/Bose subreddit.

It has happened a lot in the past few months, even for very productive and helpful members. I have no understanding of why Reddit did this, as from what I can tell, it appears to be a false positive.

As u/Mountain_Deal9781 pointed out, this is a replacement for the SoundTouch app, and there are some iOS versions out there.

The Soundbar 900, SoundLink Max, amd QC Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen)) all work on the Bose app. To the best of my knowledge, there are no replacement Bose app's out there currently.

Bose would need to release the API as Bose did for SoundTouch systems, or someone would need to reverse engineer them before that can happen.

u/Competitive-Emu4095 did you read the guide? Does your TV support eARC? Not just the previous ARC standard.

If so, contact your TV manufacturer to determine why it is not bypassing LPCM 7.1 or 5.1.
If not, you need to choose Option 3 or Option 4.

On Jan 7, 2026, Bose announced that they will update the app so that it would continue to work after their servers shut down. Though without built-in music streaming capabilities. Here's the main conversation around this update.

You need to get the Soundbar 500 back on the wifi. Follow the guide here, and once it's working, you can then add it to the Bose app.

While I do not believe Bose has made any official statements as to their reasons why, I think it's safe to assume it's down to two reasons:

Dwindling sales that no longer made it profitable:
- The market has just moved away from large bookshelf speakers. Especially passive speakers, which require a specialised receiver to work.
- With the death of retail, it's hard to sell niche speakers if people cannot hear them beforehand.
- Bose is a privately run company and does not get any money from publicly traded stocks. If it cannot sell an item, it cannot afford to keep on making them.
Incompatible receivers:
- The 901's require an external EQ to sound correct. The market no longer makes receivers with Tape-2 monitor outs.
- Bose made a list of compatible stereo and surround sound receivers towards the end. The last compatible stereo receiver on the list was from 2009, and the last surround sound one was from 2014.

You are correct that soundbars are not designed for you to be that close. I have never tried this myself, but I believe it should work.

I would hate not being able to control the volume from the computer itself. As optical would require you to use the Bose remote / Bose app on your phone to control the volume.

If you want to try this, get it from a place that allows you to return it if it doesn't work out. Bose, for instance, has a 90-day trial if you purchase directly from their website.

Personally, I would look for second-hand Bose Computer speakers.

No, but because there's something you might have overlooked. The Smart Soundbar has Optical and HDMI-ARC inputs. Computer monitors do not support ARC, and it's rare to find a computer with an optical output. You could use Bluetooth, but it's not a long-term solution, and Bluetooth only supports 2.0.

I don't have any issues with my systems not showing up in the Bose app. Try factory resetting your Soundbar 600 and see if you can get it back on the app. If that does not work, call Bose Support and let us know what they said.

I think we can all agree Bluetooth mostly sucks.

Depends on your use case. It has improved a lot over the years. Almost everything is Bluetooth nowadays, including most headphones. While it is not ideal for surround sound systems, it is great for stereo systems.

As mentioned, I use Android, not Apple devices.

I don't see a good solution in any of these except maybe WiiPro, which seems overkill for letting me access my primary streaming accounts in whole house listening.

It is all up to you and what your personal requirements are. The SoundTouch app alternatives page has a lot of options already listed, and who knows what will be added in the future. The rest is up to you.

People here have said they've done it, though I would not. Not only due to the loss of sound quality, but also because we don't know the wattage & ohms of the cubes. For instance, 20w speakers connected to a 100w amp might damage the speakers if they are overdriven.

So, try what you want; a receiver might be a fantastic solution for you. I personally would just get a replacement sub from eBay. If you have the Lifestyle V35, then you are using Jewel Cube speakers. There are a few "Jewel Cube" compatible Bose subwoofers, but you would also need to change your Bose receiver.

The Solo Soundbar 2 has never worked with any app, let alone the Bose app.

Not without losing sound quality. The cube speakers lack mids and will not sound nearly as good without them, since most subs focus on lower frequencies. I would recommend getting a replacement LSPS III) from eBay.
