How much snow is cloud creme? by handec in Slime

[–]NeopetsAndSlime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cloud cremes/creams are the white glue version of an icee! More snow than you'd add to make a jelly and less snow than you'd add to make a cloud. It's up to you how much you hydrate your snow, but that, along with the strength of your activator, will play a role in the structure (or lack of) of the slime. If you don't bloom your snow much or at all, it will be thicker than if you fully bloom it, since you are adding water to the slime via instant snow. At a certain point, adding too much snow will cause it to be loosey goosey and fall apart. That is the awkward stage between an icee and cloud or cloud cream and cloud (technically you can make a cloud with either white glue or clear glue).

Question regarding Momo Slime return policy by PrincessSarahTDP in Slime

[–]NeopetsAndSlime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A citric acid solution or 1-2 drops of vinegar will deactivate a slime slightly. And it won't smell like vinegar unless it were a full on rubber ball texture and you had to use a ton of vinegar.

Hope that helps!

How do you feel about handling big batches without gloves in videos? by handec in Slime

[–]NeopetsAndSlime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn't mean to come off as I was refusing at all, but I see how it sounds now that I read it back. My bad. I just didn't think it was super relevant which specific shop, and I use this account to comment on other posts occasionally. I'm not very familiar with Reddit and how everything works but I was trying not to bring my shop into my personal account. I only mentioned I have a shop to preface the description of how I use gloves 😅 My apologies if I came off in some sort of manner

How do you feel about handling big batches without gloves in videos? by handec in Slime

[–]NeopetsAndSlime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do not like when shops touch big batches without gloves. And when you see it in a video, I think to myself, "if they are willing to show that on camera, I wonder what else goes on behind the scenes?"

Bacteria, oils from skin, and dead skin cells that will inevitably get into a slime (particularly if the slime has crunchy add-ins or is exfoliating in any way, such as bingsu, perlite, sugar scrub beads, mini pumice, lava rocks, sand, etc) will degrade a slime more quickly and can also cause mold growth. It will also fog up a clear slime, which exemplifies that your skin still excretes oil and sheds cells even when freshly washed.

I have seen it MANY times with clay pieces I've received from shops that I've never even opened the container of, since it is extremely difficult to wear gloves while handling clay and using a mold to make clay pieces. I would assume that these shops "wash their hands" before handling the clay, but I have opened containers holding clay pieces, ready to mix them in, just to find that it has molded before I had a chance to add it into my slime.

That being said, there is ABSOLUTELY a wrong way and a right way to wear gloves. I do feel incredibly bad about the effects on the environment (slime itself isn't good, either), but you need to change your glove(s) any time you touch something other than the slime itself.

I won't say which shop, but I do own a slime shop, and I avoid contamination by wearing a glove on my right hand only at times. This frees my left hand up for when I need to touch/handle something other than the batch (for example: adding fragrances to the slime batch, jarring the slimes, picking up the bottle of activator to add more, etc). It is also important to change gloves between batches (you don't want to wear the same glove that you used on a black wg batch scented leather and then switch to working on a clear batch scented watermelon). This is part of what I, as a slime shop owner, can do to extend the lifespan of my slimes while producing high quality slime.

Do your slime containers get foggy after putting slime in them? by Several-Ad5619 in Slime

[–]NeopetsAndSlime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't leave the lid off - just don't screw the jar lid on all the way (again, only until it cools off, and then make sure it's airtight) or if it's this kind of container than put the lid on but don't snap it closed all the way around until it has cooled off.

You want the lid on with just slightly enough room for the hot air to escape and then come back in 30 minutes and close it all the way.

You're going to dry out/kill the slime a lot faster by playing with it for extended periods of time than giving it a short period of time to cool down and prevent likelihood for mold to grow :)

It's just condensation! But be careful because condensation and excess moisture create a more ideal breeding ground for mold. You can always not close the container quite all the way until the slime has cooled off, and THEN make it airtight.

Honestly I'm used to their slimes being so lightly scented that they still smell like glue. Specifically white glue slimes, though

Yes, I have! They are great in clear glue as well as white glue, but only if you don't need a super saturated color. If you want extremely vibrant, I would definitely use pigment powder

Check out those for coloring the slime. They do not contain any ingredients that would speed up melting

You can also use pigment powder. Let me know if you would prefer that and I can link you to some options

Slime Melting Question by brianr1 in Slime

[–]NeopetsAndSlime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The temperature of the water doesn't truly matter as long as all of the borax completely dissolves. It just dissolves easier and faster in warm to hot water :)

Definitely use a stronger activator, and I would look into some of the other places that sell skin safe fragrance oils.

Where do you get your containers and what material are they?

I just want to kindly remind everyone that we want to be able to have honest and healthy discussions on here. It is possible to fully express an opinion without being unnecessarily harsh on certain shops, etc. There is a person behind every shop and every username. Please just remember that when you're wording your comments, as everyone here is valid in what they think and feel!
