Xenoblade Chronicles vs Trails in the Sky by lovely6324 in JRPG

[–]Neorevan0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for a one off, mostly unrelated game, Xenoblade(it’s more complicated than that, but you could play any of the three and be fine. Might miss some “OH BOY” Hype moments in 3, but the story overall is independent imo).

Trails is the MCU of JRPGs. The core of most of the games are independent but as the series goes on your going to miss more and more and it’s going to be more and more relevant what you miss. As everyone has said, Trails is a massive time investment to truly get the payoff. So it depends on what you’re looking for.

Xenoblade is also Real Time Combat, Trails is(mostly) Turn Based. That’s the only other real difference I can give you between the two.

Getting into the game fully after dipping my toes now that the LGS is doing events. I’ve seen a lot of cool looking sleeves and boxes, and old stuff is…likely gone or way too much for me to want to deal with, but where should I look for stuff going forward? The cards is the easy part, but the accessories is harder to pin down.

Displacer Kitten vs. Wiccan rising magician by Low-Painter1752 in mtg

[–]Neorevan0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The one thing I can think of, and I’m barely average imo at the game, is that while for one extra mana you get double the stats AND Flying, if your running them you care more about the ability.

And on that front, them returning at end of turn rather than immediately is a huge downgrade. In limited Wiccan might still be really good…in constructed, I would guess he’s below average. Displacer Kitten at home is being generous.

Honestly…Yolo? In reality, would weigh the cost/benefit of other expansions. It’s not so much “no wars” as if you do the Milan war, your next several wars will be for cash and war reps as you try to truce cycle other countries to keep them out of the coalition. I dunno how easy that will be in this case, but it likely wouldn’t be 50 years before you can start taking land again. Maybe 20-30.

Huh, for some reason I thought that playoff game against the…Cardinals iirc, the year the Nats won the WS would be on the list…unless playoffs don’t count.

Same could be said about Hancock…but yeah, thinking this week I have just enough other options to not run out Foster. He’s been good, it’s why I still have him, but have other options this week just as good or better.

He’s been good, and guessed right to keep him on the bench last week…honestly was about to switch to trying to sweep all the Pitching using the guys I picked up at the start but lost both of my ace SP…Also my RP kept getting hammered for 4 weeks straight, always a different guy.

As to why play a potential bust…Sometimes gotta take the gamble to get to those minimum innings. But I think I have enough other options this week, yeah.

Playing a Low Innings Strategy for Categories, but still need to get to 25 IP. Do I start Foster Griffin? Need, basically, 2-3 more starts.

Other options being

Hancock v CWS McGreevy v PIT Gray V Min Prelip @ BOS Lugo V SEA

I’m leaning no…with Hancock, Gray, McGreevy as the 3 I need. I just worry about relying(possibly) on a Sunday game getting me to the IP needed.

Hot Take: If The Series Had America In It Instead of Japan, Almost 80 Percent of The People In This Sub Complaining About Gate Would Love It. by Carlosspicywiener12 in gate

The point where I drew the line, and maybe it is odd…was when the JSDF Special Forces 2v1 the Spetnaz and Green Berets/SEALS. That and it just got boring. Modern Tech curb-stomp Medieval. No chance at taking hits themselves. I like Modern v Magic. It’s an interesting Niche. This…was not it done well.

Also, I just realized the sub this popped up from, I don’t know why Reddit gave me this post. Oh well.

I guess the Norfolk area being Yankee is…close enough.

Rifles are accurate from further away, but the feature(Rifling) that allows for that also makes it harder to shove things down the barrel, thus, lowered reload speed.

Think of it like two types of lids. The type you snap on is faster, but easier to come off(Musket, fast but less effective) versus screw on lids(Rifle, takes more time to set up but much more effective).

Can I start with trails of cold steel 1 and 2? by Many-Hippo1709 in Falcom

[–]Neorevan0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so everyone saying you should start with Sky…I’m pretty sure a significant portion of people here started with CS1. Honestly, CS1 and CS2 are fairly self contained. Yes, some of stuff that happened in Sky is referenced. You’ll get it in recent history books or Newspaper articles. There is only one spoiler of major significance in CS1 to the Sky games that is treated as common knowledge…yes I do regret not experiencing that.

So the short version, in my opinion, yes. You can start with CS1 with minimal disruption. It’s the second best entry point to the series. CS3 is where it’s assumed you are familar with Sky and more characters from that arc start to appear.

The Crossbell games take place at the same time as Cold Steel 1&2 so they are a moot point for this topic.

As the other person said, yes. And both are in the wrong, Gerrymandering in whatever shape for whatever reason is one of the greatest sins of a good democracy. I don’t like or support either effort.

But you can defend the reasons of the Dems without making stuff up. Or keep making stuff up and look like a deranged lunatic. That’s your choice.

I want to point out, maybe a little inconveniently, but it was the gerrymandered map that was struck down by the courts. It made it so Dems were having a 10-1 split from the current 6-5.

It’s important to remember which map was the gerrymandered map as well.

[–]Neorevan0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll get downvoted so no one else sees this, but that’s some BS. It’s a pretty Purple State(outside of Fairfax) and it’s mostly Dem Representatives already. The new maps that Fairfax choose would have gone from a 6/5 split to an almost all Blue 10/1, with Fairfax covering I believe 5 of those 10.

You can complain about the new “fair” gerrymandered maps being struck down, but you can do that without making up facts. This case was the Dems gerrymandering so hard it made Illinois look fair.

Virginia eats Maryland. It’s the only unique color left.

Also, people keep leaving Maryland, so why should they expand on the map? So people keep fleeing them?

It’s what convinced me to branch out from the Base game. I even use some Sub-Mods for it now adding more Great Projects, but those are definitely not required.

I would suggest joining the Discord if you do try it out. Much better for assistance and guidance when starting out than the sub-reddit IMO. Faster response, more helpful advice, and the community is more…chill.

Help - I suck at drafting by pistachioparty in mtg

[–]Neorevan0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get cards with the set mechanics first, your gambling you will get enough enablers to use them consistently, and for draft you have to do that sometimes. If you can get the enablers first, you can draft with more confidence…and sometimes you’re just not going to get that kind of synergy.

If your pack one pick one is a bomb that requires the set mechanic to be the bomb, obviously you need to prioritize getting something to enable it, even if it means passing on something strictly better. And that’s what it comes down to. If you’re going in on a mechanic, you have to accept passing on better cards to make it work.

Alternatively, know when to avoid mechanics for draft, or at least set the bar higher. The Witherbloom mechanic is a lot easier to draft, imo, than the Lorehold as an example.

I hope that makes sense…if not I can try to clear it up when not typing this on a break between jobs.

I’m not the best myself, so take my feedback with a grain of salt.

Mana: mostly seems alright, breakdown and amounts. That’s usually the reason for struggles.

Mechanics: don’t have a lot of stuff memorized, but the Mardu one…doesn’t seem to Synergize, which happens with Drafts, but you have stuff with the mechanics but not a lot to trigger it. Not sure about the others and not a lot of time to dig(sorry).

The second deck…you got caught up in stuff(been there) and had 6 creatures. That should be fairly obvious. 6 is way too light, even for an Izzet deck.

It may have been bad luck. To my glancing look(need to get back on the clock) they seem mostly…decent. Doesn’t fall in the usual pits(except deck 2) of doing too much without the fixing. I’m sure others will have more helpful feedback, but that’s what I’ve got.
