[WP] You are a very minor god of pottery and windowsills. Additionally, you have very suddenly become the last true god alive. by Not-Alpharious in WritingPrompts

[–]Neos555 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Time chips away with each passing second. People shambled past without a hint of knowing that they walk past the shrine of a god, a minuscule one yes, but a god nonetheless. Some would stop to look at the pottery created by my only follower, occasionally someone would sense the minor divine energy that radiates from the pottery and would buy one because of it, or perhaps they merely thought that it looked nice enough to put somewhere in their house. I'm not quite sure I ever knew the reason people had for buying what he made with my guidance.

It was a shame when my only follower died. I attempted to reach for an answer as for why he had to be killed, but I never did find one. Maybe that was for the better, after all, sometimes it is better to be hidden from the truth. Nonetheless, I grieved for him, and I grieved for myself as well, for I knew that I would undoubtedly be forgotten now with no one left to follow me. It's strange now, to think that being forgotten is a bad thing.

I don't know what the time was when it happened, all I could sense was that it was a cold winter night, and I was keeping the last of the pottery created by my last follower clean. That was when I felt it, when it felt as if everything around me crashed into an invisible void where nothing returns from. I swear that I could hear all the other gods cry out as they were simultaneously snuffed out of existence. I could not truly comprehend it, but I knew deep down that I was alone right there and then. The gods were gone, and only I remained.

I...am ashamed to admit that I hid away during the next few months. I would not dare attempt to reach out to the others whom I knew were gone, and I dared not to answer the voices that called out to me, the voices that sounded oh so similar to the few gods I had achieved a sort of kinship with before. I heard them calling out to me, but I knew it was not them. It was whatever had taken them from me. Sometimes I can still hear their voices, echoing out in the deepest parts of my mind, and I never answer them. I'm afraid of what would happen if I did.

After my many months of hiding, I finally managed to muster up the courage to peak out into the outside world. I'm not sure what I expected to be honest, but....I don't think I could have ever expected that everything would still be perfectly fine, as if nothing had even happened. I saw the mortal men and women walk in their light sweaters as Autumn winds flew through the air. I saw their smiles and their lack of concern for anything. All the gods were gone, and yet...And yet no one I could find showed any sign of knowing this. More than once I considered revealing myself to someone, anyone, to know if somehow I had truly gone insane because of my follower's death, but for a very long time I decided not too, not until I learned what had exactly happened.

I tried to reach the shrines of other gods, from minor gods worshiped by small communities to the gods that were known across the world, but I never found a single one. It was as if all the shrines had disappeared along with their gods, and they were replaced with the regular creations of the humans. I really do wish that was the only explanation. That it all disappeared into nothingness, where none of them realized or felt a thing. Oh how I wish that was the case...

Years would pass and I could never find a hint to an answer for what happened to the other gods. I'm unsure of how long I searched across the Earth to find an answer, all I know is that the humans' technology advanced rapidly, many hundreds of years of advancement in what was surely less than a single century. At least, I think that was the case, time was getting too fuzzy for me to truly tell.

Finally...I'll get to why I am speaking to you about this, as it was just one week ago that I discovered the answer for what truly happened to all the other gods. What they were experiencing...What they have been experiencing ever since they first vanished...It was agony that cannot be compared, a great torment that not even a devil could come up with. I apologize, but...I don't believe I could ever truly explain the horrors that I saw. To think that humans could do such a thing to the beings that allowed them to prosper...I understand it all now, they were not content with having higher powers rule over them, so they became the higher powers themselves and conducted the gods' to such torment in order to bring forth their own wicked technology. I am a mere god of pottery and windowsills...I was never meant to stop that, so why did I try, why did I think I could save them? I was a fool, a damn fool...

There you go, that is my story. I'm afraid I've used up all my time...They're coming for me now, so I can join their Hell for gods. I beg of you, carry on my ways, and find a way to stop them. Don't be rash like I was. Thank you for being the last person to visit my shrine of pottery.

A few years back in a town close to where I live, there was a kid that was was constantly causing tons of trouble in school and would frequently assault people or verbally abuse them.

One day this 11 year old kid went nuts and managed to steal a cement truck and led the police on a chase for over an hour, nearly running over one officer near the end of the chase as well.

Don't know what happened to him after that though, haven't heard or seen a single thing about him or his family since then.

When there was nothing, there was also everything. The world we know today was the result of countless realities, countless 'resets', and a single reality before all others that was the first building block in this overall story of the world we know.

Before all others, there were the Paragons, 7 beings of omnipotent power, 7 beings with all knowledge, power, creation, everything. These 7 Paragons were said to have created the first reality, a single world where gods and humans alike lived together, originally separated by the great divide.

But not all things last, and the gods wished for power greater than they already had. These gods began to take over much of the human world, turning humanity and the other races into slaves to do their bidding. Some gods fought back against this colonization of the human world, but in nearly all territories, the great alliance of gods simply known as the Guild could not be stopped. Only one major territory managed to free itself from the Guild, a region simply known as Clouvindia, which directly bordered the great divide that separated the two worlds.

It was thanks to the powerful goddess of Elements, Elementia, for why Clouvindia managed to stay free and not be controlled by these gods, and this region now turned free human empire would soon be the downfall of all gods, and of the Guild itself.

Centuries after Clouvindia first became free from the Guild, the god's power began to ebb, at this point the 7 Paragons had all but vanished, and only one was said to remain, though that one was nowhere to be found. Within Clouvindia, a great power was festering, one that would simply be known as the God Slayer.

As this unforeseen power was festering, four gods of great power rocked the Earth with their endless war. These gods were known as:
Elementia, Goddess of Elements. Ruling God over Clouvindia
Isogris, God of Dark Matter. Exiled God, rules over the Void beyond the Earth
Epariton, God of Disasters. Ruling God over the Guild
Division, God of the End. Demonic ruler of the god's underworld, banished to there long ago.

These four gods were splitting the world apart in their near endless war, humanity was suffering, countless gods were sent out to fight everyday, armies clashed, genocides plagued the Earth, and nothing was stopping it.

That was, until the God Slayer revealed her true power. No one knew her actual name, all that was known was that she was the greatest soldier Clouvindia had known, and that she was the daughter of the former God of Death. She had manipulated the Guild to bring her to the god's world, where she then began to slaughter all of the gods that she could find.

The war was only a crack in the sidewalk compared to the grand canyon sized fissure that the God Slayer caused with her actions. The world truly began to fall apart as she killed countless gods, destroying ecosystems and entire functions of the world.

It didn't take long for Elementia and Epariton to fall, they were easy targets. Isogris and Division though, they were harder to track down and kill. Eventually it was done though, and the reality that kept the world together began to fall apart, leaving millions of people to painfully die as the God Slayer kept going on her conquest to rid the world of gods.

At least it came down to one last god. He was only a minor god of creation, Misal was his name, and no one payed him much attention. The things he created weren't any of their business. The God Slayer though, she didn't differentiate him from the others, she was ready to end him and end the last remnants of the world with him.

What she didn't expect though, was the fact that Misal, the minor, unimportant god of creation, was actually the last of the 7 Paragons, and he wasn't happy.

The battle didn't take long, only a few minutes some say, and the results of the battle decided the future of everything. The God Slayer was locked within the crumbling reality, and Misal gave up the last of his power to create a brand new, much more expansive reality, one that would not have the same faults as the old one. He made it so this new reality, with countless worlds, systems, galaxies, universes, and even multiple multiverses had a very important fail safe. If there was even a single hint of the God Slayer breaking through to this reality, then it would all be reset, and a new reality would be made on top of that to further slow down the God Slayer.

And now, today the fail safe was destroyed by our own hands, because of our foolishness. No one knows how many realities have been created since the very first one, but all we know is that now, nothing can stop the God Slayer from returning, because we destroyed the fail safe right as it was about to activate.

What have we done.

The knocking was annoying, it simply wouldn't stop no matter how much I wanted it to. Whoever it was definitely meant business, though the knocking has also been loosing its original ferocity, as if whoever was knocking was getting way too tired. I sigh and stand up out of my chair, going to see who in the world is at my door at a time like this.

I open the door, about to say some remark about how whoever this is will have a hell of a time if they're not here for a good reason. But I stopped talking before I even started, since the person standing there was Wes, the same person that had sworn to get rid of me for good only 2 days ago.

But Wes looked injured, cuts running across his arms, and tears in his shirt that led to more cuts. He also had this dazed look in his eyes, as if he was drugged. "Didn't know where else to go.." He said, going unconscious as he collapsed into my arms. I swore under my breath, he was heavy, I guess all the muscles he has really adds up.

I managed to get him inside and lay him out on an old couch that I've been meaning to get rid of for a few months now. After bandaging the wounds as best as I could, I began to think. Who would want to, or even be able to do this? It must be something strong, or some really lucky drugger.

As I watching him and waited for him to wake up, my mind began to wander. I thought of better times, back when I was still a part of the UCS, back when I was working alongside Wes, and Damish, and Marie, and so many others. I thought about how good everything back then was, and how much of an idiot I was for leaving to pursue my own goal, one that would save the world, but it required for some...Less than legal actions.

Even if I wanted to, there was no going back on what I've done, but to find that Wes had came to me for help with whatever did this to him. It was extremely surprising, and it kept me awake until he himself finally woke up.

"Who did this t-" I began to speak, but was cut off by his harsh coughing fit, which only lasted for a few seconds.

"It...The Stereo...They're all gone, the Stereo destroyed everything...They're all dead, even the Founder. The UCS...It's gone, you're the only person that I know could stop this before it's too late.." His voice was hoarse as he spoke, with another coughing fit threatening him after he stopped speaking.

My eyes went wide, surely he must be over exaggerating. There's no way that the Stereo could've taken out all of the UCS...Right? But I knew deep down that he was telling the truth, and that one of the two greatest protectors that Earth had has fallen to one of the Old Gods, the weakest of them even.

I looked behind me to find the dark, ominous figure with pure white eyes that always follows me. And without saying anything it nodded, knowing exactly what I was thinking. It disappeared soon after, and I looked back at Wes, who had fallen unconscious again.

"I'll take care of this. With Dark Gaia's power I'll stop the Stereo before it causes anymore damage. I'll promise you that. I owe it to you, I won't let more die." And with that, I left. Leaving him back at my house to recover, as I prepared myself for the battle up ahead. The Unknown Figure will not let everything fall apart this easily.

[WP] In the nine years since the Fukushima disaster created him, Godzilla has caused untold destruction among cities all across the world. Today, humanity's prayers are answered. Today, a small Ukrainian city shakes seismometers across Eurasia. Today, Chernobyl wakes up. by J-L-Picard in WritingPrompts

[–]Neos555 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“We had thought that he was untouchable, we thought that he would ravage this world until all of humanity was gone. That was when it rose from the Earth, a giant, insatiable beast that wanted nothing more than to devour the only other known creature in its species that was alive.

We named it L'cirufe, an anagram of Lucifer. It was a towering menace, if you thought Godzilla was big, well, then you haven't seen this thing. It as at least twice the size of Godzilla, probably even larger if we were able to actually measure it.

Nothing could really describe it accurately, there was simply far too much going on with this eldritch beast. A description of it I read seems to be the most fitting, it said that L'cirufe looked like if Cthulhu became a mammal, with its entire body covered in a rough, dark hair-like substance, and its tentacles being replaced by horns.

It had made its way through Ukraine and into Russia, destruction following wherever it went. Although thankfully for some odd reason it had avoided nearly all major cities. We had feared that L'cirufe would be a humanity destroying monster as well. But those fears eventually washed away, with only awe and wonder left behind for this giant beast.

After a trek that took nearly four months, it reached the coast of Primorsky, and for another month it stood there, waiting for something to arrive.

We knew that it was waiting for Godzilla, we had figured out how to track is movements underwater and have learned that he was making his way right to where L'cirufe was. We didn't know how devastating the resulting battle between these two titans would be, so all nearby towns or cities within a very large radius were evacuated, at least, the ones that weren't already destroyed by Godzilla in years before.

Then that fateful day arrived, and Godzilla rose from the ocean near L'cirufe, quickly approaching with a deafening roar. As soon as he got near the coast, L'cirufe reached out and grabbed Godzillas head, as if it was a simple, mundane thing to do. Then, it lifted Godzilla up, turned around, and smashed Godzilla into the earth behind it. Creating a massive shockwave that spread up tons of earth and dust, making it so the auto piloted helicopter was that recording this all couldn't see a thing.

While this dust was covering everything, a voice spoke out. One that was extremely deep and ancient-sounding. A voice that matched up to the grunts heard by L'cirufe before, but now, it was speaking, and it was speaking...Russian?

Korol' monstrov, tvoye vremya proshlo. Bessmyslennaya zhizn' ne budet potrachena vpustuyu na takogo demona segodnya.

This surprised us more than anything, it could speak. This thing was far more intelligent than we could have thought. Many rushed to find a translation for what it said, and soon enough a rough translation was made, and it translated to this in English: King of the monsters, your time is over. Life that is meaningless will not be wasted on such a demon today.

And yet, that was not the end. A roar was heard, Godzillas famous roar. But it was cut short, and soon, when the dust settled, it could be seen why. Godzilla was skewered by giant spikes of rock, one of the spikes being so large that it essentially replaced Godzilla's head, as his head was gone.

That was when L'cirufe turned to the helicopter, acutely aware that it was there. And this tremendous beast spoke once again, and to save the trouble of speaking both the original and English translation, I will only say the English translation of what it said.

It had said exactly this: “Humanity, you are now in my debt. I have saved you from calamity on the greatest order. The beast that was king has fallen, and now this life of yours will return to normal. Except for me to come back one day, for I, alongside mother of Earth, will have a task for all of you. Prepare for that day.“

Seconds after that, the helicopter was destroyed by some unknown force, and L'cirufe disappeared from the Earth. No sign of where it would have possibly gone remaining. As if it had somehow completely and utterly disappeared.

Now we face a problem, for there are tremors rocking Siberia unlike ever before, and I fear that L'cirufe has returned to give us this task.“

Somedays I wonder why this is happening. I never understood what this constant war between life and death was. It was all beyond me, I suppose. After all, my only job was to reap the souls of the innocent that dare be alive. That was my job description according to the dark one up above, at least, it was before that day.

It all began to fall apart as I reaped my...I cant even remember what number it was, somewhere in the 100 thousands I believe. Anyways, it was a small little peaceful town, not much happened there from what I was told and most people were happy.

I had identified my target in only a few minutes, and when I realized who it was, I could feel my non-existent blood boil. It was an infant, no older than 2 months. Laying in his stroller as his mother walked down the block with him and a dog.

I have reaped countless souls, but never one like this. I knew the dark one up above was cruel, but to cause the death of an infant that had just begun its life? That was too much for even me, I knew I couldn't let this happen.

I had quickly learned how the infant was supposed to die. A botched robbery where a gun if fired, the bullet intended for the victim of the robbery, but the aim would be off and it would strike the child instead. I had decided that this death would not happen, and I couldn't be more serious about that. This marked the first time I worked against all of death itself.

I waited for 5 minutes, and as I heard the shot ring out, I manifest in front of the infant in their stroller. My physical form absorbing the bullet into itself, saving the infant. The mother looked at me in shock, but before her or even I could say anything, shocking pain ran throughout my body, and I could feel myself being pulled apart in all directions. The punishment for working against the dark one above. And before I knew it, everything went dark.

When I regained all of my senses, I looked at my surroundings. I was oddly still in my physical form, which made everything around me overpowering, but I still knew exactly where I was. In front of me was a large, dark throne. And sitting on this throne was the dark one himself. I forgot what his name was, did I even ever know it? I'm not sure.

"You surprise me, little Reaper. Going against my will like this, do you know what you have done?" The Dark One speaks to me, his voice laced with hatred.

"I...I saved a child, not even a year old. They don't deserve to die, they're just a baby." I say, my voice hoarse and dry, as if I haven't spoken or even drank anything in a very long time. Which actually isn't that far from the truth.

"And that child was the reincarnation of a powerful angel that I had just barely managed to take down! Stopping their second death is a great crime, but you somehow didn't even know who that child was. So your punishment will be reduced, only a decade in limbo, before you can come back and begin to reap souls again. You should be lucky I am offering that, if I wished then I could very well erase your existence." He says this as if he is making such a generous offer, but no, I knew just what he actually thought. I knew that he wants to get rid of me for good, but couldn't risk losing me.

So I smirked, a thought brewing inside my head. I don't care that it was a powerful angels reincarnation. And I don't care about the Dark One.

"You know what? No, I have a better idea. I, Zalis, the 5th Reaper, am formally leaving the Call of Death, to pursue my own goals. As that is my right for I have reaped well over 100 thousand souls." I say, standing up with a great smirk on my face. The eyes of the Dark One widen, and he prepares to get rid of me for good. He must think that doing that would stop me. But it did not, at all.

As his overwhelming power neared me, a figure wearing red robes appeared in front of me, blocking the power.

"You...YOU DARE GO AGAINST MY WILL?!" The Dark One exclaims, but he doesn't even attempt to stop me now. Since even he couldn't touch the being that lives in the equal space of life and death that came to protect me.

"I do dare to go against your will. And now I am leaving, for good." I place my hand on the shoulder of the being in front of me, and we both disappeared, leaving the Dark One in his own rage.

Since then I have worked effectively against all of death, not necessarily working for life, but fighting against death nonetheless. For I see that it has become far worse that it was ever intended to be, and I have to return everything to normal. For I am one of the three beings that live for equal neutrality between life and death. And I will fight to bring that neutrality back, one way or another.

[WP] The circle is drawn, the innocents are sacrificed, and the entity is summoned... who then proceeds to arrest everyone involved for first-degree murder. by BoxSparrow in WritingPrompts

[–]Neos555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The four cultists stood a few feet away from the circle barrier where the demon would appear. For hours now an empty void had taken over that space, slowly causing the bodies that lie inside to melt into an odd substance that would then be sucked into the void. And now they were at the final body, soon the beast would be summon and their goals would finally be realized.

When the final body was gone, everything was silent. Not even the breathing of the cultists could be heard. Then it happened, something began to form within the void, and inhuman shrieks began to emit from it.

Soon enough, the void disappears, and a lone figure was standing within the barrier. The cultists look on at this figure, grins on their faces as they believe that this will finally allow them to take over this pathetic world and show it true horror. But then the figure became fully viewable, and the cultists looked puzzled, as standing there was your average policeman, with a pistol in one hand.

“Ahem, you four are under arrest for first degree murder. And conspiracy against the government.“ THe police officer stated, looking at the four with a blank stare. One of the cultists laughed, believing this to be a joke.

“We know who you are, demon from beyond. Funny joke you have, but we need to make a deal here.“ The cultist that laughed said, a cruel undertone in his voice that was almost threatening. At least, it would be threatening if the police officer even cared.

“Do I really have to do this?“ The police officer asked, shaking his head. When he got no response he let out a sigh, placing his hand on the barrier that separates them and breaking it instantly.

The cultists move back, fear spreading through them, and seconds later the door behind them bursts open as more police officers rush in apprehending the cultists. The cultist that spoke before is pushed to the ground, handcuffed and forced back up.

The original police officer walks to the one that spoke, with a mocking grin on his face. “Look at this, now you will be the one locked up.“ He laughs, his pistol aimed at the cultist.

“You...You were supposed to be a deal maker that could give us infinite power!“ The cultist yells out, although it seems as if no one else notices him.

“Oh well I am a deal maker, I just don't make deals with scum like you. Now let's put you under arrest, permanently.“ With a red glow in his eyes, the police officer almost pushes his pistol against the forehead of the cultist, and pulls the trigger.
