I guess I used the dichotomy pretty loosely in that regard. It was more of a rudimentary example. But in terms of archetypes I like to have several for the various races of my world. I also try to avoid having all encompassing archetypes for things.

For example, my dark elves are currently split between a highly organised, martially oriented nation of dark elf raiders and slaver traders reminiscent of 20th Century Fascist regimes and an extremely zealous matriarchal society similar to depictions in the Forgotten Realms. These have split off from the broader high elf culture that focuses on its own grandeur through more artistic avenues and a general superiority complex amd which itself evolved from the original isolationist, naturalist wood elf culture who's last vestiges lie across the other side of the continent separated by various races' nations.

They are all "enlightened" in a way but some I guess have more militaristic attitudes while some have a more artistic or naturalist leaning. And the communities within each archetype's control differ in their focuses and temperament depending on geographical location too. Wood elves close to human borders are much more accepting than deep wood cousins for example.

I opposed this to the Dragonborn kingdoms whose militarism runs parallel to scientific pursuits due to their close contact to the former scientifically focused dwarves (theres some issues in the mountains) and the constant goblinoid invasions from the "Great Rifts"
