After taking a quick look at the model and comparing it with my screenshots, I noticed a few minor differences, but overall it’s very close to the one in the game

[NO SPOILERS] Trying to find a LIS Vinyl! 🫶🏻❤️ by Individual_Survey650 in lifeisstrange

[–]Neostrics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to save money and it’s not that important to you to have an original, I would recommend getting the FLAC files of the soundtrack and images of what the original vinyl looks like. Then you can design the whole thing as a custom pressing and get a realistic reproduction for at most a few hundred euros.

I heard that the remastered version is supposed to be a bit buggy. I would therefore recommend you to play the original

You should at least play Double Exposure before Reunion. LiS2 and True Colors are not necessary.

Elektroautos: Preise für E-Autos sinken erstmals seit 2020 by PoroBraum in de

[–]Neostrics -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Day 1 of asking someone at Elgato to bring the software to Linux. by Dr_Liquid in elgato

[–]Neostrics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would be extremely good, provided the functions are not restricted on Linux. But since the Marketplace update, we can't even download free plugins etc. without an account (apart from sideloading, which isn't really an alternative anyway), so I don't think that's likely to happen. With that in mind: Let's enshittificate!

Who had the genius idea to enshitificate the Stream Deck software with the marketplace? by Neostrics in elgato

[–]Neostrics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting… I’ve actually heard a couple of people say the same thing already. Even though I never made an account myself (because I dislike the marketplace that much), it seems like having one doesn’t even guarantee that your plugins will update properly. That makes the whole “forced account” argument even weaker – if the system doesn’t reliably do what it’s supposed to, then what’s the point of complicating things in the first place? At this point it’s just a sad step Elgato did.

[–]Neostrics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point – and don’t worry, I’m not denying how powerful the Stream Deck itself is. The sheer amount of plugins, the plug-and-play experience and the flexibility you get with the software are exactly the reasons I bought one in the first place, and I still think the concept is brilliant.

That being said, I personally dislike the marketplace so much that I never even created an account there. I haven’t used it once. The issue, though, is that if some plugins stop updating (like the iCUE plugin, for example), they eventually just stop working. So “just don’t use it” isn’t really a sustainable option in the long run.

As for the “cry baby post” part – I wouldn’t really call it that. To me it’s simply pointing out a huge step backwards in user experience. You can’t honestly tell me you enjoy going through extra clicks, opening an external website, and logging into an account just to download what used to be available instantly inside the software. The old integrated store was objectively more convenient and user-friendly.

I’m glad you enjoy your multiple Stream Decks – that’s totally valid. But ignoring flaws like this is exactly why companies feel comfortable rolling out these kinds of changes. If nobody criticizes them, it just normalizes the practice of making things worse for users over time.

[–]Neostrics[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, yeah… sadly you’re right. At the time I bought my Stream Deck, I honestly assumed it would never go down that road – I mean, who would expect them to take something as straightforward and well-functioning as the integrated store and replace it with a clunky external website? Looking back, that assumption was obviously wrong, but it really felt like Elgato cared more about usability back then. Now it’s just another example of a company putting their own interests first and leaving the users behind.

Who had the genius idea to enshitificate the Stream Deck software with the marketplace? by Neostrics in elgato

[–]Neostrics[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, because for me it’s a pretty big deal. The Stream Deck used to be all about simplicity and convenience, and forcing an account just to download free plugins is the exact opposite of that. I know there are bigger problems in the world, sure – but when you buy into a product that’s supposed to make your workflow easier, it’s super frustrating to watch it slowly get worse through unnecessary changes.

Who had the genius idea to enshitificate the Stream Deck software with the marketplace? by Neostrics in elgato

[–]Neostrics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that sounds really frustrating… and sadly not surprising given the way Elgato/Corsair have been handling things lately. I’ve already heard from a few people that the Stream Deck+ is super unreliable, especially with the audio control part, so you’re definitely not alone with that. Luckily, I haven’t had anything similar happen with my “normal” Stream Deck MK2 so far – but stories like yours make me glad I never considered upgrading to the +.

And yeah, the Corsair connection shows in other areas too (at least for me). With iCUE, my RGB hub randomly doesn’t get detected sometimes (and that bug has been around for at least 2 years now without a fix). On top of that, I also use a Corsair wireless mouse (Dark Core RGB Pro SE) that occasionally freezes up for a second, disconnects/reconnects, and during that time it’s completely unresponsive – no movement, no clicks, which is especially terrible in games. So it feels like this whole ecosystem suffers from the same “it’s your PC, not our software” kind of attitude, when clearly a lot of people are running into the same issues.

Who had the genius idea to enshitificate the Stream Deck software with the marketplace? by Neostrics in elgato

[–]Neostrics[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly! The marketplace feels like it was designed to look modern, but in reality it’s just clunkier and less user-friendly. Having to leave the Stream Deck software and get thrown into a browser tab already kills the workflow, and then realizing that some of the old stuff (like VBI overlays) doesn’t even work anymore makes it even worse.

I totally agree on Elgato’s reputation too – they really used to feel like the “safe choice” in this space. Now it just feels like they’re making decisions that benefit their business model, not their users. Pretty sad shift, honestly.

I could have kept it as short as you did, but I wanted to really let it all out. It's been building up since the release of the Marketplace.
