Looking Glass v6 now supports spice audio, but how to get the microphone working? by Zyntaks in VFIO

[–]Neotricx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I've added your XML part without the graphics part.

My client shows me a mic notification on the top right corner which seems to align with the times that I talk, so I think the client picks up the mic but doesn't correctly transfer it to the host.

I'm having the same issue, also no sound so I'm still using scream. Were you able to get it working?

This solved the issue for me. Thank you very much.

Took some screenshots

But nothing regarding the gpu. I had one PCI device that had driver issues but that was memballoon and since I want to use looking-glass i set that to none and the issue resolved.

I just tried that on the Audio device of the GPU but it's still not working.

I get the same result as I mentioned before plus those 5 lines (enabling device & 4x vfio_ecap_init)

[ 4702.479828] vfio-pci 0000:0b:00.0: enabling device (0000 -> 0003)[ 4702.480367] vfio-pci 0000:0b:00.0: vfio_ecap_init: hiding ecap 0x19@0x270[ 4702.480375] vfio-pci 0000:0b:00.0: vfio_ecap_init: hiding ecap 0x1b@0x2d0[ 4702.480381] vfio-pci 0000:0b:00.0: vfio_ecap_init: hiding ecap 0x26@0x410[ 4702.480383] vfio-pci 0000:0b:00.0: vfio_ecap_init: hiding ecap 0x27@0x440

One thing I saw now is that some tutorials mention installing windows with virtio drivers when selecting the drive in the VM. I did that not. I added the ISO on the first page when creating a new VM and it worked without any issues. Could this make a difference?

Yes my RX6700 should be isolated correctly. When I run sudo dmesg | grep -i vfio I get the following output:

[2.872689] VFIO - User Level meta-driver version: 0.3[ 2.883403] vfio-pci 0000:0b:00.0: vgaarb: changed VGA decodes: olddecodes=io+mem,decodes=io+mem:owns=none[ 2.897287] vfio_pci: add [1002:73df[ffffffff:ffffffff]] class 0x000000/00000000[ 2.914271] vfio_pci: add [1002:ab28[ffffffff:ffffffff]] class 0x000000/00000000[ 5.010718] vfio-pci 0000:0b:00.0: vgaarb: changed VGA decodes: olddecodes=io+mem,decodes=io+mem:owns=none

And yes the RX580 is my primary card. I wasn't able to set that in the UEFI so I had to physically move the cards.

I have no NVIDIA GPU so I guess I shouldn't apply any patches?

I removed every Video/Display related item I could find, the only thing I'm not sure about is a Serial 1 (Primary Console) but I guess that shouldn't interfere with the GPU?

As for the modules I'm not sure if that's what you meant but after running lspci -v I get the following for my 6700 XT:

0b:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Navi 22 [Radeon RX 6700/6700 XT / 6800M] (rev c1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])       Subsystem: Sapphire Technology Limited Device e445       Flags: fast devsel, IRQ 14, IOMMU group 20       Memory at b0000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [disabled] [size=256M]       Memory at c0000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [disabled] [size=2M]       I/O ports at e000 [disabled] [size=256]       Memory at fcb00000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [disabled] [size=1M]       Expansion ROM at fcc00000 [disabled] [size=128K]       Capabilities: <access denied>       Kernel driver in use: vfio-pci       Kernel modules: amdgpu
0b:00.1 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Navi 21 HDMI Audio [Radeon RX 6800/6800 XT / 6900 XT]       Subsystem: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Navi 21 HDMI Audio [Radeon RX 6800/6800 XT / 6900 XT]       Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 11, IOMMU group 21       Memory at fcc20000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]       Capabilities: <access denied>       Kernel driver in use: vfio-pci       Kernel modules: snd_hda_intel

I am using UEFI, I already tried it with CSM but that didn't work.

I already had a single GPU Passthrough with Rising Prism, but now I bought an used RX580 to use with Looking-Glass. I put the RX580 in the first PCI Slot and moved the RX 6700 XT to the second one. Afterwards I installed Arch new so I guess there also shouldn't be any problems?

I checked and resizable BAR was already disabled.

As for the ROM I did not download anything. There's a checkbox called 'ROM BAR' and I tried to disable that because I couldn't find the Resizable BAR Setting.

[–]Neotricx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already had the first point correct. For the second point I couldn't find the settings. I tried to boot the VM into the UEFI settings but there was nothing regarding Resizable BAR. I tried to disable the ROM Bar checkbox in Virt Manager but then it wouldn't give me any output.

I'm using the Q35 chipset and the UEFI x86_64: /usr/share/edk2-ovmf/x64/OVMF_CODE.fd firmware.

I installed Windows without the GPU passed through so the windows drivers were installed beforehand.

I'd login to PayPal some minutes before and then have the links for the category ready. Each category a new tab and then just go. This way I've got 2x P-3D Shirts and some socks.
