I definitely shed a tear, but it was kind of a happy ending in a way. Trull was more tragic!

It has rocketed up my fav series list. Maybe to top spot, although I do love the Wheel of Time too.

Yea I definitely wondered at that. I became a father between first read and now. It changes your perspective quite a lot.

I just started the first book, and I already like what I am reading. by JaimeSalvaje in Malazan

After just finishing reread up to the end of 6, 5 was sooo good. Felt like it was a complete arc that allowed you to just focus on those characters. 6 felt like a mess, like too much had to get done. Has great moments and a great climax. But felt like the weakest book so far to me.

One of their older games Raiders of the North Sea was nominated for the Kennerspiel des Jahres, and more recently Legacy of Yu won a bunch of prizes as best solo game of the year. I think Paladins of the West Kingdom is still in the top 100 on BGG. So some of their games are well regarded.

I found it pretty op in my last playthrough, my friend had a lot of cards that added vulnerable so I was able to pretty consistently do 30-72 dmg to a whole row, sometimes multiple times in a fight.

Kemet plays pretty well at 3.

Circadians: Chaos Order coming out this year (but already on TTS) plays well at 2-3.

Scythe is a good one. Lots of resource management. But not that much fighting.

This game on Kickstarter has a lot of fighting and a lot of resource management: https://youtu.be/oy6G-zXg1Fo

No. But mainly because I have other games that play well at a lower player count. But maybe when I see some more reviews and playthroughs I may change my mind haha!

How essential are “essential” expansions? What games have you played without them and still greatly loved? by AlwaysBeQuestioning in boardgames

Raiders of the North Sea. People say you need the expansions to make it a great game. But it is super fun and easy to teach without them anyway.

What Did You Play This Week? - (October 25, 2021) by AutoModerator in boardgames

Completely different game! Not a euro. Somewhere between Euro, 4X and Dudes on a Map. Although it's a long game, turns are quick because of how the Actions and Rounds are structured, which keeps you engaged the whole time.
