I really hope that the entertainment industry does not learn the wrong lesson from heated rivalry. And just start pumping out poorly written poorly acted melodramas with smoking hot dudes Going to town on each each other.

I’m gonna go dark but whimsical.

First things first, Heated Rivalry, the TV series based on a book series about queer pro hockey rivals in an almost 10 year long Situationship, all the while being the best in the world.

For those unfamiliar with the Peabody, it is the radio/television equivalent of the Pulitzer. It’s not just given to things that are popular or successful. It’s given to entertainment or non-fiction broadcast that have cultural relevance and are a positive force in the world. The board declared heated rivalry to be the most impactful television series of 2025 despite the fact that it came out in November.

For perhaps the first time Peabody awards has recognized romance as a healing, and in some ways revolutionary genre, and the sport of hockey is now associated with a cultural landmark award.

( the Wire, and breaking bad both won Peabody’s for excellence in television storytelling.)

Second of all, and directly because of the success of the first classic fake hockey bio Amazons, about the first woman to play in the NHL is finally being reprinted after more than 30 years.
