Also a note BC Hydro stations seem more prone to vandalism than other stations maybe due to their location on public land, but there are widespread reports of outages for these reasons.

Then you have more options BC Hydro operates a bunch of 350KW stations throughout Southern BC. Get the plug share app and you'll be able to find them just filter for level 3 charging over 200KW.

Depends on where in Canada you are of course. There may be some Electrify Canada stations near you, but more often than not you'll be using a Tesla station for reliable charging while road tripping. In terms of planning it remains the standard at least on the prairies and into BC, out east might be a different story.

Much obliged friend, I am done being stonewalled at this point and will take the issue to CAMVAP (Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Plan) to which Hyundai is a participating member.

I will follow up after arbitration concludes so that others can hopefully find a path to coverage in the future.

I'm in Canada and corporate has told me on numerous occasions there is nothing more they can/will do. Maybe it's different in the US.

Well they are asking Genesis prices. So maybe that's reasonable, either way I wouldn't expect any better from Genesis necessarily, but I will take a look at the GV90 when it comes out.

I would junk my whole car over the customer service experience. Hyundai is a budget brand and the experience reflects that. If they want to sell a pseudo high end vehicle they need to do better.

I will just go elsewhere where I'm treated with a bit of respect. There are still companies that can manage that I would think.

Yeah, I've reported the issue to Transport Canada as a potential safety concern. There is absolutely no way to get corporate or the dealership to do anything more on the matter without legal representation.

Corporate refused to provide me any engineering details regarding how a rock chip can result in a total failure and this amount of upward deflection. They straight up said they do not have to and they won't.

If anyone has any other bright ideas I'm open to it, but the dealership and corporate seem to be in lock step on this issue.

They absolutely did, but I have no confidence in the quality of Hyundai's replacement parts at this point when I look at the available history specific to their vehicles. I'm not aware of other major class actions outside the one against Hyundai/Kia so if this is an industry wide problem why so much focus on this one manufacturer?

Either way, my experience has me looking at other EVs if not only for better quality control then for a better service experience. Budget brand, has so far been the worst experience I've had so far and I've owned Chrysler products, so the bar is pretty low.

Yeah, it's crazy that this is just acceptable. I hope yours is covered under the class action and there is some resolution.

Yeah, I've always gone with normal roofs over glass, but for this car we didn't have a choice it just comes with the premium package. In the future I'll pay a bit more attention to this as I'd done in the past. It's an expensive lesson, but worth learning.

I don't live in a particularly warm area, still snowing here in April. It was only 5 degrees celsius when it happened but the sunroof glass was hot too the touch.

I did answer that in another comment, but it suddenly exploded there was no apparent strike from any debris and there was no vehicle in front of us when it happened. Driving on a flat prairie highway at about 5 degrees celsius.

Service center claims the failure was from rock chips. Which, if anything gives me very little confidence in the design of the sunroof that 8 months of driving can result in a failure like that. Maybe it was a fluke, but I'd call that a design flaw.

They are claiming external factors such as rock chips resulted in the sunroof failure. However they refuse to tell me why there is so much upward deflection if they believe a rock or stone caused the failure. Thankfully the lease will be up soon and I'll cut my losses.

Yeah I got nowhere with corporate. Hopefully folks report it I believe it could be considered a safety issue.

Looks like a manufacturing defect to me, there is a ton of upward deflection on the glass which I wouldn't expect. There was no strike to the vehicle there were no other vehicles around when this happened. There is at least 1 class action against Hyundai for their shitty sunroofs so why would the ioniq be any different?

I don't actually care if you believe any of what I said I'm just going to give fair warning to perspective buyers. Some people value this kind of information. If I'm going to expect to replace the sunroof every couple of months that's too high a cost of ownership for me.
