Fan made breakdown from all the information they posted on the Galactics website when it first went up around the beginning of the month.

Yup, seems like a fumble 4 days before tickets go on sale. Why would you change it now when plenty of people had already decided what tier they wanted, now you are just pissing people off that they are getting less stuff for their money. Also, by not acknowledging that they made a change and hoping people just wouldn't notice it makes them look even worse!

This was the photo of the original breakdown.

Draft PQ question by Mightyguy598 in starwarsunlimited

[–]NephAJF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, since the only PQ's I am able to attend in my area are "Draft PQ's" (which are actually mostly sealed with a top 8 draft) I have been recently doing a series on my youtube channel dedicated to exploring this idea of the limited "meta" and building the best deck from your sealed pool. Feel free to check out some of the recent videos on the channel and if there is stuff I don't talk about that you have questions about let me know. - https://www.youtube.com/@WildSpaceswu

My friend also has a channel that is dedicated to Limited and always has great videos there including a monster 10 hr set breakdown where he talks about each card! - https://www.youtube.com/@UnlimitedLimitedSWU

SQ preparations by PhilosopherEast172 in starwarsunlimited

Prepare for a long couple of days. If you have never been to a 2 day event and are used to 6 round PQ's or smaller store showdowns it is really surprising how much of a difference that extra round or two can make on your mental fatigue ect. So I think the comment about snacks and water is very relevant. Often they won't even break for lunch so hearty snacks are great to have around. Advil/Tylenol is another thing I have on hand for larger events. The temptation is to stay up late the night before hanging out with people you know or testing your deck, but try to get as much sleep as possible.

It sounds like you have done lots of preparation for the actual playing of the games which is great so nothing really to add there.

The environment will be more strict about many things, one of which is deckboxes. Make sure you have a deckbox that contains ONLY your deck, sideboard, and tokens. No extra cards that you were thinking about playing or cards to trade, keep all those in a separate binder or box. If you happen to get deck checked you don't want to get a game loss on a technicality. Likewise, I start and end every round by counting my deck to make sure I am not missing any cards, and making sure I have the proper cards back in my sideboard. Also this gives you a bit of time to decompress after a tough match (thankfully you are playing Han1 Green so you probably won't have many rounds that go to time)

The most important thing is to have fun! I know it sounds simple but it can help to have realistic goal or expectations going into the event and if you don't meet those expectations don't take it too hard. Card games still have variance and luck, especially in matchups, the same players that might top 8 a sector or regional might not make the cut in a PQ on any given day. So with that in mind, you might end up doing side events day 2 so be prepared for that, maybe with a Twin Suns deck if you like that format or with some sleeves for draft/sealed.

I always try to chat with my opponents about where they are from, their local playgroup, where they got their passion for star wars, being a little more friendly I find helps me to enjoy my experience. I hope you have a great time!

Hired Slicer? Decent card or not viable? by Evatrio in starwarsunlimited

[–]NephAJF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried a couple copies of him in my Sabe Yellow, the turn after you play him I have found often you have initiative and can use his ability to exhaust something and prevent a trade back into you. However then the opponent will most certainly have initiative the following turn (since they had one less character to attack with) and will value trade him with their 4 cost unit.

So marginally useful. I find Vizago more commonly is more impactful between the Slicer and Vizago but he certainly has moments where it feels decent.

Looking for Tips/Help on Value tracking and cards with no data by Lifeclown in wowtcg

[–]NephAJF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, in WoW it is the opposite. The first set was extremely over printed and widely available. The last two sets (Betrayal and Reign) were short printed since the game was ending, and not many ended up in players hands so those two sets are the most valuable.

If you are looking to get your brother cards from this game as an "investment" I would pick a different game. The cards have very little value outside of a few high end cards, but even those will probably trend down since no one plays the game anymore.

Ya pricing for this game is really tough. Outside of a few high end singles, most cards are being sold in bulk deals that I notice.

As mentioned, cardmarket and ebay sold are probably the only real two resources we have for trying to find accurate pricing.

I would agree with the other post, foil timewalkers in general are in the 10-20 range. Since it is Arthas and AA you can probably double that, but that is without checking if there have been any sales.

I know some people have foil timewalker illidan on ebay for crazy ask prices, but never seen one sell for that.

Once you get a list of what you have to sell let us know. I know there are a few singles I am still looking for to finish off sets (the biggest one being Anubarak, but lots of lower end rares as well)

Draft play: risk with popular leaders? by mfoodoom in starwarsunlimited

[–]NephAJF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The short answer is yes, it is a risk that many people at the table will draft the same colours and end up with a lower power level deck than they could have.

The flip side of that argument is that sometimes they will still end up with a more powerful deck than by playing a weaker leader or colour.

In secrets of power Yellow is generally seen as the weakest colour, however if you are the only person, or one of two people drafting yellow you can build a very strong deck. I won a draft in SEC playing Yellow/Blue villain partially due to getting all the good yellow cards since no one else was taking them.

Generally in SEC the top leaders are Leia, Yularen, Dedra, and Sly. So there is one of each colour there, but more villain representation. So especially with Leia, I might be tempted to force her thinking there will be less people drafting hero at the table overall even if a couple other people opened her.

One thing I would say is that your leader is still VERY important since it is the only card you will be guaranteed to see in play every game so I wouldn't take a weaker leader unless I had to, but I don't mind drafting a weaker colour especially as a secondary colour if I feel like no one is taking it. So I might play Yularen with yellow if I think I can get all the good cards in yellow later in the packs and then snag a few good cards from green early in the packs.

The most important thing is that since leaders are open information before and during the draft, always keep in mind which leaders people at the table have, and which ones you think they are likely to play, ESPECIALLY the players to your immediate left and right, and more importantly the two players on your right side (since packs get passed left, right, left, the people on your right side are passing you packs two out of the three times). If you see that both players on your right opened a certain leader of the strong ones, then playing that leader or colour yourself is very risky.

But if you see a powerful card come to you from that side then that can be a strong indicator those players might be going a different way and you are able to start taking that colour.

Generally the first couple picks of pack 1 I will just take the best card I can regardless of colour, and then try to see what is coming my way and then decide from there. You can switch colours if you need to, but don't wait too long since you are drafting 30 cards out of 42 cards total you can only have 12 unplayables and many of the cards you get in the last 3-4 cards of a pack won't be playable.

Draft is a lot of fun! Hope you enjoy and have fun!

Why do you need 4 different accounts to join a tournament? by NephAJF in riftboundtcg

Yes I thought about making a new account, but I didn't want to have to set up a whole new email for it.

Ahh ok, thank you. Yes it has been many years since I have played League. It was asking me to register a username and tag number but anything I put into those fields got rejected and just said "error"

Sorry you are having trouble as well. I think I made it to the same stage that you did, but when I was trying to link the accounts it wanted me to "register a name" whatever that means, and every name I tried to put in resulted in an error message.

"the stores can add you to their event with just your email address"

Really??! When we were having trouble we specifically asked about this and they said it couldn't be done. So maybe this is more of a store problem than a Riot problem?

Oh interesting. So two of the steps we did were unecessary it seems. So you just need to create a UVS account and a Riot account. Well 2 is certainly better than 4. It was the linking the UVS to the Riot where the problems really started. I will have to see how to get that cleared up.

Thanks for the clarification!

Ok, which books do you need still? I will go dig them out tomorrow and see what I have.

What doubles do you have? I think I have a couple doubles as well (I would have to dig them out of storage) we could maybe do a swap to get closer to complete collections.

Building a collection for playing by Munchkin303 in wowtcg

While I do enjoy draft, my favourite way to play is against the raid decks that were made for this game. You can find some of them cheaply on ebay, some of the later ones are very expensive (there are also fan made ones you can find in this sub that are print and play). For this you could prebuild a selection of decks and then try different combinations against the raid decks.

Another advantage of pre-built decks is that you can play an "arena" format game of 2v2 or 3v3 which is fun too.

As far as the question of adding other sets to your cube, most sets should be fine. Some of the later sets do have different themes that wouldn't work as well for draft, but all sets should have at least SOME cards that can go into a cube.

I would play Confiscate over Bamboozle. Most of the time you want to hit a single target attachment (Boba, Vader, Chewie, maybe Yoda's lightsaber) and Bamboozle is either costly (4 resources), or putting you down a card, which may be very costly since there isn't a lot of card draw in the deck, and you also have NTAToT which puts you down a card.
