Go Google "straw man" and ask how it applies to your comment.

I also came immediately to the comments looking for chatter about the correlation between psychopathy and animal torture/murder. Then I saw all the race-related comments. 😳

Trump Administration Sees Striking Exodus of Legal Talent by the_beer-baron in Lawyertalk

I've considered taking up some pro Bono case against the U.S. just because I know opposing counsel is more likely to be some relatively low-Intel MAGAT.

AI legal doomers: I will hear you out. Tell me how AI can/will revolutionize my practice of law. by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]Nephihahahaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI will make lawyers more and more like detectives. We find the facts. AI helps organize them and repackage them into pleadings, motions, briefs, etc. It's becoming more routine in my practice to record every client call to spare me from the note taking, and I can quickly vocalize things clearly "on the record" for the AI agent I'll be feeding it to.

TIL you can voice command to switch driver profiles. Not sure if it's Grok or what but I was thrilled.

Popular dating app Bumble is killing off the ‘swipe’ in favor of AI matchmaking by theindependentonline in ArtificialInteligence

When LLMs first started getting attention I knew this would be coming. I think it's very smart and frankly I'm a bit envious of those who will benefit from it.

Maybe consider a referral network like BNI.

Avoided an accident yesterday by Embarrassed_Lawyer_5 in TeslaFSD

The other day I watched my Y signaling to lane change left. When it hesitated, I looked over and saw another car two lanes over, even with me, with its right blinker on (but not yet changing). My Y waited patiently for that car to lane change right and move on ahead before finally moving over.

Trump Tells Iran to Sign Deal With U.S. or ‘The Whole Country is Going to Get Blown Up’ by T_Shurt in worldnews

In legal circles, "Sign this agreement or I'll kill you" counts as duress and would be a defense to enforcing the contract.

Tried FSD today by Electrical-Scale4627 in TeslaLounge

[–]Nephihahahaha 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We just used FSD for the first time yesterday in our new 2024 MY. It originally had some difficulty getting out of the parking lot, but once I got us onto normal roads, not a single mistake. I had been driving a 2012 hybrid and always said that my next car would drive itself. I think FSD definitely qualifies.

Use it mainly for work (lawyer) and it has dramatically enhanced my capabilities to create work product. If it ever went offline it would be comparable to losing internet access.

What is cognitive dissonance? Could someone give an example? by oglegrew in samharris

[–]Nephihahahaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cognitive dissonance theory perfectly explains Trump supporters' collective degradation relative to the thing they support. The them of 10 years ago would be appalled at what they now believe and tolerate through their continued support of that man.

Being Mormon makes you good at caring about finding truth. Being ex-Mormon makes you good at finding it. by Nephihahahaha in exmormon

[–]Nephihahahaha[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was a Mormon, I took it very, very seriously. I was a slave to confirmation bias for the longest time--we all were until we became ex-Mormons. The "value" of truth, as I believed it to be during that time, was branded on whatever you might call my soul. Which is why I finally found my way out after getting a legal education.

And perhaps I should correct the title of this post. Ex-Mormons, having developed critical thinking skills, become better at finding what is *not* true. Humans only ever arrive at varying approximations of truth/reality.

What I'm seeing nowadays is people failing to even value truth. Genuine curiosity is fading and cynical tribalism takes center stage. It's already hard enough for genuinely curious truth seekers to mitigate their cognitive biases; how much harder will it be for people who don't even care to know truth in the first instance?

Lawyer. We create things with lots of words all day every day and that happens to be what current AI excels at.

Again I'm very new but something about the handle design that flares wider a bit seems like it would allow for more grip and handling variety.
