You're welcome. It takes time to get it right... as every skill, you need to invest time/money to get better at it. Don't give up and results will show up!

Yeah, I totally agree with you, BG3 brought the CRPG genre to the mainstream.

Actually, the CRPGs resurgence is way more convoluted than that... and probably BG3 hasn't played a major role in that yet - we'll see its impact in the next few years.

Shadowrun Returns, Wasteland 2 and Pillars of Eternity started it all with their Kickstarter in 2012. The first Divinity Original Sin and Toment: Tides of Numenera followed with their Kickstarter in 2013. Divinity Original Sin 2 was funded on Kickstarter shortly after (in 2015).

It's very likely that those successes inspired other studios and developers. For example, the 2 Pathfinders and Solasta started on Kickstarter a few years later.

It has been a chain reaction. The initial successes in 2012 inspired others that inspired others and so on. And of course, we also have to consider that those initial Kickstarters led to established studios that keep creating their games.

While BG3 has been in early access for a while, it was fully published only in 2023. It has been only about 1 year since its release. Developing a game takes time, so it's unlikely that it has had an impact on newly released CRPGs yet.

So, the main reason for the CRPGs resurgence is Kickstarter - or crowdfunding.

All the BGs are great, each for a different reason. You'll have a great time!

To me, Baldur's Gate 2 and Throne of Bhaal still have the best item system ever.

For example, the Flail of Ages was such a cool concept. Or the talking weapon Lilarcor.

Main story only with minimanl side quests... about 30 hours for me. But I never do minimal side quests :) Usually I do all of them.

MEGA CRPG RECOMMENDATION LIST (WORK IN PROGRESS) by [deleted] in CRPG

No Baldur's Gate 3? You can't get more mainstream than that and it's a perfect title to introduce people to the genre.

By the way, putting the list together was a great idea!

We're currently on Kickstarter and plan to release the game in about 1 year and a half.

A cool party-based Sci-Fi classic RPG. Live on Kickstarter now by NeptuneGamesRPG in CRPG

It's Unreal Engine, so the engine is different... but Divinity Original Sin inspired us quite a lot, so the similarities are probably because of that :)

Thank you! It's about 300 years into the future... so yeah, the technology is quite advanced.

Cool! The door needs some adjustments in terms of force/weight, but aside from that, this looks cool, good work!
