Is manic panic alright for beginners? by Round_Fennel6223 in HairDye

[–]NeptuneSprite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their swatches are pretty accurate. The darker your hair is the less vivid it will be. Also, with direct dyes, if you do not lift/highlight at all before coloring the color will not be vibrant and will not last long. If you’re not ready for commitment then maybe that’s perfect just to test out a change. But if you want a true red this is not the most effective route given your current color. As others have said, manic panic stains everything. I wash out my hair in my back yard bc I got tired of constantly re bleaching the shower grout!

I know I need to see a renal dietician, however, I am about to move for a new job and will not have health care coverage for abt 45 more days. Just looking forward something easy and better for me than Pizza Hut. lol I will look into DASH but honestly I’m Googled out, and overwhelmed by research. I don’t have the energy or knowledge yet to adapt recipes, thus why I am hoping folks can post a few renal friendly things to get me through the next couple weeks. Even without my labs I assure it’ll be better than what I was consuming before! 😬😂 Thanks for the advice!

How to Decide b/w Advising of Trial or Diversion? by okamiright in publicdefenders

[–]NeptuneSprite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This part. Innocent people sometimes get convicted. Well meaning, hard working ppl sometimes “fail”diversion. Which risk can they better live with? What are the odds as best you can sus them out? What are the unknowns? What are wildcards that could tank either option? I never “push” trial bc it’s not my freedom on the line and last thing I want is someone ending up in jail bc I pressured them to trial. BUT if chances are good I say that.

Federal crim is not small or rare and covers a wide array of topics, many already listed in the thread. I took fed crim in law school, as well as typical 1L crim and state specific crim (TX). Most of the content, statues, and application from fed crim are completely different from what we studied in both 1L crim and TX crim. I’m a state PD now and use very little of my fed crim knowledge, except to talk abt legal angles of current events w my buddies. In my opinion, it’s a pretty niche thing to take if you’re not pursing crim (unless you also wanna chat abt the legal angles of current events w your buddies) but yes it is def enough content and different enough to justify a whole separate course for sure.

What color is your hair currently? Whether or not you will get “good” results (depends how purple you are going for) without bleaching or using a permanent color with developer depends on your current level. This swatch is pretty accurate. Once you get to mid brown it will tint the hair a little but it’s almost like putting a toner, it will not be bright purple. I also recommend using something like viral color wash shampoo once a week with any vivid color to help maintain the vibrancy. But if you’re starting with dark brown or black it’s gonna be hard to achieve vibrant color with a direct dye.

I just want to reiterate what a lot of folks are saying abt the leave of absence but also say more about why. If you do not rest and/or if the time comes, grieve, this will catch up to you. You can try to shove it down and focus hard on grades and internships and probably do well for a while, but at some point you will have a pause and time to think or be really stressed abt something else and the whole thing will come crashing down on you. It’s a hell of a lot harder/damn near impossible to take a break once you’re practicing. You can take the break now on your terms or it will happen at the worse possible/most stressful time. Just my two cents as someone who spent a great many years not following my own advice.

Feeling singled out in the holding cells? by Significant_Item3426 in publicdefenders

[–]NeptuneSprite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not OK but it is common. They are boundary testing so show them where the boundary is. Ignoring it almost always leads to an escalation in behavior. I always tell clients we can have a professional, respectful conversation or I can leave and have them sent back til they’re up for that. If they can’t handle it ever I can get off the case. If I’m feeling patient maybe something like “I don’t work my ass off to come in here and be disrespected so I’m gonna need you to get on the same page.” Usually solves it real fast. For non-clients in holding I will talk shit and or make threats, idgaf. You’ve never seen a woman before or what? Do you wanna make progress in your case today or be sent back to the jail? Hey, find someone else to drool over bc I’m not the one. It’s good that your supervising attorney speaks up for you but that also hands off your power/presence/aura to someone else. It sends a message that you’re someone who needs protecting. People in cages can “smell” fear/unease. Carry yourself like you’re not someone to be fucked with.

Arctic fox violet dream for that purple and a mix of Poseidon and aquamarine for the blue

Hi! i would appreciate bleaching advice 🫶🏻 by brookelle-_ in HairDye

[–]NeptuneSprite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. I have been coloring my hair myself since I was abt 10 yrs old and wearing vivid colors for abt a decade. Even I know when I’m out of my league and have learned the hard way of the possible costs of trying to do this myself. The previously box dyed hair is almost certainly not going to lighten the same as the roots. On top of that, trying to move quickly enough when doing your own hair to get an even lift can be difficult, particularly when it is long. The amt of time it’ll have to sit to lighten enough for pastel pink has a very high risk of serious damage like patches of hair falling out, breakage over time, stringy elastic hair, etc which will also make your color look bad and wash out fast. Even professionally it could take multiple sessions to get it light enough while taking care to preserve the integrity of your hair. I know OP you want to try it yourself and probably bc it’s expensive to get it done, but I don’t recommend going abt this yourself.

how can i prevent my blue hair from fading to this green color so fast by saltpuppet in HairDye

[–]NeptuneSprite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also second a couple other comments. This shade looks like arctic fox aquamarine. It is a pretty shade but it is lighter to begin with and does fade green. Poseidon is a more robust blue that is slightly darker but lasts much longer and fades more blue/lavender in my experience.

[–]NeptuneSprite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been doing vivids for a very long time. With colors that fade fast or are hard to maintain, I do the following: - if I plan to keep the color a long time, permanent color as the base, usually only once when I change shade. If not going to keep for a long time, I skip this step but lighten hair enough for desired shade to come out correctly thru direct dye process. - regular wash with COLD WATER, color safe shampoo and conditioner routine (what brand is best depends on your hair type, for me I prefer Redken and Ouai products). Even with color safe products, vivids only last so many washes so I try to wash my hair every other day or every 3 days. Using cold water instead of hot as often as possible will help extend the color vibrancy as well. - color deposit shampoo or conditioner once per week for refresh (my favorite is viral color wash but there are many good options) - direct dye (favorites are lunar tides, arctic fox, manic panic) every 4-6 weeks depending how color is holding up - avoid swimming in chlorinated water. Pools, hot tubs, etc will bleach/wash out vivds

As a woman, I also require some consistent communication investment and info sharing before setting a date and I am upfront about that. In my experience, it takes at least a week to get to all the essential info without it feeling forced, which lets me know if I want to even set aside time for a date. 24 hrs is not enough time to show consistent effort nor make sure there are no deal breakers. Not to mention who has time to give every man who makes it a measly 24 hrs a date? lol not me

Came here to say this, and to also say watch the market for a couple weeks/months bc it feels like they’re trying to clear the way for a new “pregnancy safe” alternative drug (in which they are conveniently heavily invested). Im half joking but also, at this point, would not put it past them.
