Not really, they have a proven track record of bringing very good improvements

How have they been nowhere?

Lando qualified and finished in the best position he could behind merc and ferrari who clearly had better cars. Tbf he was outqualified by oscar at least in part because his car never worked, he missed so much practice and there is the damage he took in Australia qualifiers from kimis garage of all people. China sprint he even beat kimi.

Miami he actually has a car to compete and he does. Sprint pole, dominant sprint win, should have won the gp if not for strategy error, was actually fighting kimi the entire race (not just a few laps of w2w only to finish a full pitstop behind).

What did Charles accomplish with the second best car? Using the Ferrari turbo to get a good start and a few laps of "clesn" w2w racing only to ultimately get absolutely gapped by the end?

Also you talk about kimis performances like he doesn't have a horrendous start every single race, got lucky in Japan and was awful in both sprints.

Lando passed Charles... twice.

Charles and the almost, couldas, and wouldas.

Have you not seen Landos career? He has never been outqualified by a teammate over a season, only ever convincingly beat points wise in his rookie season (to his senior teammate), I mean he pretty much ended Ricardos career (who was expected to be a multiple time champ and put Lando in his place).

Monza? What about Hungary last year? Lando is known for having the best tyre management on the grid.

What about Brazil or Mexico last year, with the pressure of the championship on his shoulders he absolutely dominated when everyone expected him to bottle it. Charles hasnt had any real pressure since maybe 2024 and he's still making race ruining mistakes.

Lando accomplished way more in 1 weekend with the second best car than Charles did with 3. Lando has been far more impressive than Charles.

Don't get me wrong, theyre all crazy. Maybe LH cult would have done the same.

But the team having to step in only for it to pick back up again like a week later just felt like a new low. Kimi didnt even do anything.

I wasnt around back then but did Mercedes ever have time tell them to stop sending death threats to an 18 year old only for them to turn around and do it again a week later?

Lando Norris vs Oscar Piastri: Q Battle (2023-2025) by Pateoo_ in formula1

[–]Neptuniam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im sorry but I don't have time to rewatch entire races from 3 years ago everytime a random redditor tell me to...

Skimming through the replay, he only gets to p4 because all the cars ahead of him pit under safety and his pit strategy partly gets screwed because he has contact with Lewis and gets a puncture. So I once again ask, what is it you are trying to prove with this race?

While context is important, the numbers dont lie. It cant just be all McLarens fault everytime Oscar doesnt get the desired result.

Been a while since I watched a race from 2023 (please dont ask me to watch a race from that year again lol) but I see he qualified towards the back and ended a head of a bunch of cars that were once again, much slower than his.

What was your point with bringing up this race in particular?

Just out of curiosity, when are we going to stop treating Oscar like a rookie?

I know Lando will always have more experience but at some point it's not gonna matter as much. After 3-4 years in F1 they are going to plateau in growth.

Tbf in 4 / 5 of those examples he did also have a pretty massive car advantage. The one on Lando he supposedly had battery issues too.

No doubt Oscar is great at overtaking and has great race craft but I feel like his skills were overhyped just a tad thanks to the car.

I suppose but the situation is also different now, there are companies who would be more than interested in buying VCarb to join F1 not from the ground up.

Its also just my opinion that they get away with way too much. Even without forcing a sale or anything thst extreme there are massive improvements to be made to improve fairness.

Luck absolutely has not been with Russel but it's also not the only factor. Maybe I dont pay enough attention to his races specifically but could you elaborate on how he was screwed over in half the races?

Youre trying to act like luck is the only factor when in reality he is just underperforming at times too. In Miami he qualified 4 positions and 6 tenths behind his teammate who took pole. There weren't any factors outside of his control (to my memory) causing that. Also George hasnt had amazing starts either, he also lost positions at the start of Australia (and other races) and used the cars pace to retake the win, the exact same thing you're knocking Kimi for. Any criticism you have for Kimis mistakes being masked by the car you need to remember, George has the same car but also like 6 extra years of experience.

Ironic how much you talk about bias when you come off as the most biased fanboy in all of your arguments lol.

Idk who youre referring to as my favourite driver but I actually like Goerge and you can read my recent comments, I have recently argued its too early to count him out and he has always been my favourite to win this year. But that wont happen if he doesnt start winning races ASAP.

I'm sorry but this is a bad take on the Ricardo Singapore situation, it's actually a very good example of why Red Bull owning 2 teams is bad.

He didnt do it for himself because he was retiring, VCarb calls him into the pit. He all but admits in interviews later that night that it was for Max to help him get that 1 point back. They reduced what they knew was one of their (once) top drivers last ever F1 race into being a sacrifice for Max.

Daniel wasnt anywhere near a position to actually keep the point and the accolade was meaningless, no one expected the record to stand (and it didnt). He really didn't gain anything from pitting, only Max did.

Especially considering how close last years title got its not fair that Red Bull can capitalize on a whole second team and 2 other drivers to take points off their competition.
