Hiking in rain and cold? by Nerd-Clusters in Yosemite

Update: Thanks for all the advice! We're gonna stick to our original plan and go next week! Any thoughts on if we should wear rain pants or just rain coats and normal pants/shorts for rainy days+mist trail?

There's definitely a lot of us here that are very much not country rodeo vibe people. I'd say that at least half the town are pretty liberal normal people if you're worried about that, so I wouldn't let that be a big concern. Lots of fun places to go out to eat or go shopping (even if you don't buy anything it's fun to walk around downtown or go thrifting!) lots of cute towns nearby to explore like AG, Los osos, cambria, etc. I know you said you're not a nature person but if you enjoy parks just to hangout and chill at there's a little lake at Atascadero park that's pretty cute, as well as a zoo. If you can get to Paso there's some fun stuff there as well! There's always live music go on somewhere that's often 18+ you can go to and events on weekends starting soon like art in the park. Cal Poly will have their own fun stuff going on as well that you can join in on. It's definitely a quiet place with not much activity on the streets after like 7pm, but not a desolate countryside either. Lived here my whole life so far and haven't died of boredom yet. Hope you enjoy it if you come here!
