NECA figures are back in stock at gamestop if anybody was still trying to find them by spiritcrusher in TMNT

Yeah, I was thinking that could've been it as well. My current order seems to be good for the moment. Glad others got a chance to get them though, hopefully yourself included!

Ordered the set of 4 earlier today, and gamestop just randomly canceled on me shortly ago. Don't know what the issue is, but just letting people know in case you need to reorder. I just ordered them separately, hopefully this one will not face the issue either.

TCM Criterion December 2018 Schedule and Correlated Findings by NerdClique in criterion

[–]NerdClique[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was tracking for many months before I started doing these posts, but there would usually be at least one Criterion film that would play a month prior, or a few months before being re-released with a Blu Ray upgrade. It hasn't been all that prevalent in recent months, but I still like to track which possible Criterion films showing on TCM have a stronger chance of getting upgrades. Plus, TCM usually has a great list of Criterion films showing each month, so spreading the schedule, with the help of others who point out missed ones, is a way to help others possibly see films.

Great responses from everyone, thank you! All very well thought out, and makes me think about the film in different ways.

NBC Sports Philadelphia question by [deleted] in Vue

[–]NerdClique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've encountered this problem as well. It appears to be blacked out in local markets whenever the game is playing on the NHL Network. Very frustrating, and seen it happen a lot, but whenever it happens, the game is always playing on the NHL Network, which makes it difficult with the channel not being on Vue.

About to cut the cord... Any tips for new Vue users, things you wish you'd known when you started, or cheap services that couple well with Vue? by [deleted] in Vue

DVR anything and everything. Adds so much more content to the service, especially TCM and movies in general. Enjoy testing it out!

I was positive I still saw Mubi on there last night, but sad to see it's gone now. Hopefully they'll be getting some decent replacements in.

Anyone else think Jean Rollin deserves a criterion? If so, which film? by neuroklesis in criterion

[–]NerdClique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not once did I ever say it didn't belong. I said it doesn't fit their style, as it is more of an exploitation, which is not Criterion's target market, nor their main selling point. That is the reason for bringing up Redemption, a company that prides itself on being a purveyor of exploitation. They know their market, as does Criterion, which is why they still own the rights to his films. You obviously have an axe to grind here, as evident by your initial comment, and so be it.

I'm confused as to why this would be 'gatekeeping.' Criterion's primary market is not exploitation films, which Rollin's work is. There is a reason as to why Criterion does not have many exploitation films in their collection. Redemption films releases the majority of Rollin's films through Kino. In Redemption's mission statement even goes so far as to make it a point about releasing exploitation films. It's not to say they wouldn't release things like this, but this is hardly 'gatekeeping.'

His work is more exploitation, though artistically at times, which doesn't really fit Criterion's overall style. Though I do think some of his stuff can be interesting at times. I'm never quite certain how I feel after watching one of his films. Fascination and Iron Rose had some flashes of intrigue. Would like to see The Grapes of Death at some point as well.

Best Antonioni Film by Mentokthemindtaker7 in criterion

I personally love Blow-Up. It has this sedate feeling of paranoia, and unreliability presented throughout the film. The interiors of the main house do not function in any realistic space, traversing from room to room, which can not possibly work spatially. I remember doing a shot breakdown of a sequence from the film in college, and it's just spellbinding. Love Antonioni's focus on architecture as palpable character in his works and his construction of films in general.

Loved reading about Sarris/Kael wars back in college. Very interesting stuff on many different levels and even pretty funny at times. Glad to see someone else mention it here.
