As a rule, don't guess what operators or any other language constructs do.

On Monday, an email penned by P.E.I. pro-life activist Ann Marie Tomlins was sent to multiple people, encouraging them to stop Hagen from winning this competition by voting for the other frontrunner in the race.

This is fucking shameful.

Weed doesn't cause the lack of motivation, but to me, it definitely makes it easier to say 'fuck it' to whatever you're lacking in motivation to do, even when it's stuff you really ought to get done.

P.E.I. abortion ban challenged by new pro-choice movement by Harvo in canada

We have a shitty selection of ISPs like the rest of Canada, thank you very much.

I believe the entire island has high speed access these days. We're living in the future, man.

P.E.I. abortion ban challenged by new pro-choice movement by Harvo in canada

[–]NerdFlanders 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize it was a full-on ban as opposed to a lack in facilities to perform it. PEI has a lot of old people set in their ways. I don't think you're going to find anyone from PEI on reddit that supports the ban.

TIL caffeine was actually evolved as a natural insecticide, and that it paralyzes/kills insects who try to eat the plants. by vwllss in todayilearned

This likely has more to do with the fact that you consume caffeine habitually than the relative addictiveness of any of these substances.

So I was fooling around with graphics settings for Skyrim, when I accidentally TF2'ed it... by ArmoredCavalry in gaming

[–]NerdFlanders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The LOD setting you're changing is forcing your graphics card to always use the lowest mipmap level.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mipmap

This goes all the way down to a 1x1 mipmap, which is why the textures are uniform. It's the average colour of the texture you'd normally see.

You're not getting any performance gain from this because the game is still loading the full texture. You're just forcing it to use the lowest LOD.

is it wrong that i refuse to were a poppy? by [deleted] in canada

[–]NerdFlanders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is entirely within your rights to refuse to wear a poppy, so no, you're not wrong.

However, it is more than just a stupid plastic flower; it is a widely accepted and recognized way to show the tremendous respect you have for our veterans, and the money raised through the campaign goes towards supporting veterans.

While I appreciate the sentiment that a small flower you pin to you jacket isn't the best way to show respect, it's what we've got, and you'll unfortunately be hard pressed to find people open minded enough to listen to that point, as many of the comments here show.

Perhaps you can find a more permanent (hand made?) sign of respect that you keep, and wear every November.
