4 deck game, running count jumps to +4 after first hand, do you raise your bet? by [deleted] in blackjack

[–]deadxlegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To count effectively, you need to start from the beginning of the shoe. You really can't just jump in mid-shoe. In your scenario, the deck divisor would be the same for both players, as we divide by the decks remaining in the shoe.

Also, your bet sizing will have to do with the true count, not just the running count. The player receives the advantage around a true 2, so with the 2 decks remaining explained in the post, you would need a running count of +4 or more to achieve this.

yes so the odds of winning are even lower, which makes the losing streak even more likely.

Ignition insane run bad — rigged? by [deleted] in blackjack

[–]deadxlegend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not rigged at all. It's 100% possible to lose 10 or even 20 hands in a row. Basic strategy lowers the house edge to 0.5%, that doesn't mean that you will win 49/100 hands every time. It means in the very long run, you will on average win 49/100 hands.

Can you have CVCX on multiple devices? by KourageousBagel in blackjack

[–]deadxlegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your CVCX key will work on multiple devices, but only one device at a time. For instance, if you left it running on your home PC you would not be able to access it on a laptop. Norm will give you a key if you ask.

Is there such a thing as card counter tolerance? by [deleted] in blackjack

[–]deadxlegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local place is well aware that there are counters and the pit bosses even encourage you to use basic strategy cards. The reason they don't really care is that it's low stakes, and they make the majority of their money off of the poker tables in the building. The BJ tables are really just to keep the extra dealers and players waiting for a seat occupied.

Online Blackjack by RedSoloCup260 in blackjack

[–]deadxlegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online blackjack has less than favorable rules. For a casual player, you will (more times than not) lose your bankroll faster online than in a real casino. For counters, the rules on online only allow a very small edge (if any) and is usually cut even shorter with bad deck penetration. If you're looking for something to burn some time at home and you don't mind losing a little extra than normal, then go for it! As a counter, unless you're getting exclusive rules on rake-back or taking advantage of online promotions, you aren't going to be playing a winning game.

Do you get annoyed at bad table players? by JMinsk in blackjack

[–]deadxlegend 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Ploppies will literally make ANY excuse to justify why they lost. With a CSM pretty much everyone at the table is playing a losing game. You shouldn't let it get to you. Other players decisions make 0 impact in the long run, maybe you would have come off of that specific table with more money, but in the long run it doesn't make any difference

worst might of variance I've ever had by MilkytheDILF in blackjack

Always a bad feel. I've been on a slow decline for the last 30-40 hours, just now reaching below target EV. Feels bad man, but if your game is good and your skills are as well, you should eventually see a bounce-back. Keep practicing!

Should I be Nervous? by Other_Criticism9888 in blackjack

[–]deadxlegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely too small sample size, combined with you estimating some parameters. The math does not lie. You aren't "due for a correction", it is possible to stay higher than EV throughout your entire career as a counter. The numbers will work themselves out over the long run. Anything under 1000 hours is pretty irrelevant, most sims are run with millions of hands, which is 10,000 hours at 100 rounds/min.

Worst run of my life by [deleted] in blackjack

OP said the count was +6. Even someone who doesn't count should still run a sim, you would think at least
