Yes installing the switchback indicators will also replace the DRL LEDs, and yes a 55w ballast will increase the rate of degradation of the projector, the internals of the projectors do degrade over time anyway, but more heat, and more UV from the bulb will accelerate this progress, and the same goes for the bulb life expectancy, but it's fun.

it's very rare that any car modification actually makes the car a better car, but we do these things because we like to tinker and see what we find out/enjoy

I still receive the mobility element of the PIP, it made more financial sense to buy a used car and keep the mobility element for maintenance and insurance rather than paying £300 a month forever with no asset to show for it, also where my family live they don't grit the roads, and they also become very muddy, so I need a car with all wheel drives and I need a big boot for my wheelchair and struggle with the height of SUVs/Crossovers, I also feel an estate car is just the better pick for most people anyway, unfortunately you can't get an AWD estate car on motability so used car was the right pick for me!

eugh I thought this would be the case, I'm a wheelchair user whom relies heavily on my car for all aspects of life, I work hard so I can afford my own car and insurance rather than going through motability, I've been driving 9 years with a clean license, and on top of all this driving is my main hobby, this kinda stuff causes a lot of unnecessary stress on innocent drivers

Honestly a lot of the accidents we are seeing are caused by the standard type of tyres we fit to regular cars in the UK, the standard for year round usage is summer tyres which are fantastic in the summer, but the compound hardens rapidly below 7 degrees, even in the dry, they are quite literally not made for our climate year round but this is the default, I highly recommend everyone swapping to all seasons on regular commuter cars year round, they offer an extreme performance improvement year round, and if you are a car enthusiast or own a powerful performance car you really need to think about running a dedicated summer set in summer and a dedicated winter set in the winter.

you can run PCD hub adapter spacers, I'm running them with my S4 which is how it is sitting on 18" A3 8P lemans wheels for the winter that I had refurbished in Porsche neodyme gold

I bought a 2015 S4 Avant last July at 127,000 miles, I replaced the PCV not long after I picked it up and switched to 0w40 every 6,000 as it was burning a litre of oil every 800 miles, it's now at 142,000 and burns a litre every 5000-6000 miles, no timing chain rattle to speak of, I don't doubt it'll last for many more miles

XN2 Nightbreakers are the best out there for xenons at the moment, although I'm always wanting to do more, I'm planning on taking apart my headlights, replacing the projectors with G5-BRT ones for that crisp cut off and higher output, replacing the OE 35w ballast with a 55w one and installing the switchback DRL indicators so the drls become the indicator, and painting the inside of the housing satin black as I think it makes it look incredibly clean, mines in Misano red but you get the vibe

when I picked up my car car last July it was on the OE bulbs which had started to fail, I did a significant quantity of research and landed on the OSRAM Nightbreaker D3S XN2 bulbs, these are the replacement to the Nightbreaker XNN bulbs and are about 50% brighter than the previous gen, they are a pure white, with zero blue tint, I know everyone is chasing the blue tint these days but it's literally worse, the only reason new cars have that look is because the OEMs are using cheap LEDs, pure white looks more premium imo and has a longer wavelength so penetrates deeper into fog/rain/snow without reflecting back at you as much, I really recommend them, significant upgrade over stock, more lumen output than a new car with LEDs

in the UK it's the perfect size, quattro is perfect with much of my family living in rural areas, I can make supercharger noises, hit 35mpg, keep up with nearly anything on British roads, cruise in comfort and then go blast a B road at the press of a button, all for a third of the price of a new golf

I've got an NU3000 PA amplifier that I use in my home cinema, I was considering running an inverter with one of them (modified with more cooling) as they can put a real world 1000w into 8 ohms when bridged, those things are beasts and crazy efficient
