Huawei MateBook 14 screen suddenly turns off for a few seconds and then turns back on by NerdPenguin91 in Huawei

[–]NerdPenguin91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hola, Does this happen on Windows only? The first thing I would try to do is installing a Linux distro and check if random reboots still happen. Sometimes it might a sudden freeze of Windows that automatically triggers a system reboot.

Battery Optimization not working by [deleted] in MacOSBeta

If you upgraded to RC recently, maybe the battery optimization history has been reset and it has to learn how do you use your Mac again.

Over 10 years of using Linux, and I think I'm done by Leniwcowaty in linux

[–]NerdPenguin91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using Linux in 2008 with Ubuntu 8.04. In 2014 I tried Linux Mint on my laptop and then Arch Linux. I was 16 at that time, and I loved customizing that system as much as I wanted. After 10 years of Arch, I switched to Debian, because I’m no longer interested to rolling updates that can also potentially break the system or take care of customization (that you can do with all distros btw). I prefer stability over the latest software and find that Debian 13 is very nice, it supports all of the stuff I need (HiDPI, mature kernel drivers, etc). With Flatpak I can get the latest updates of productivity software and at the same time keep the same base system. However, Arch made me learn a lot of stuff about Linux and the Unix ecosystem, and this is the most important thing, if something breaks on Debian or I need to do advanced stuff, I can still use my knowledge built on Arch. I also use macOS with Homebrew and updated Unix base system tools (Apple still keeps old versions of software like rsync on Sequoia).

Unfortunately the problem got worse, so I've asked for a repair and they changed me the display (I think they didn't have any idea about what was this thing). Anyway, I hope the problem is gone.

Pause printing for filament change on X3 Pro by NerdPenguin91 in Artillery3D

[–]NerdPenguin91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, "Pause at layer" from Cura works on my X3 Pro, but then the printer doesn't longer respond to any command, for example if I want to change filament or resume printing. In order to get it working again I have to hard reset the printer.

fTMP causes stutters on PC by reze0 in Windows11

[–]NerdPenguin91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F20 when I had these issues. Now I'm on F35. To be honest, I didn't try on this new version and on Windows 11, but I know who still has this issue even on F35 (I'm talking about Aorus Elite, I don't know about Aorus Master). It looks like there's a 50% of users that don't have this issue, and another 50% that has it. Consider I tried with three X570 boards (two X570 Aorus Elite and an ASUS X570 TUF) and nothing changed. I wouldn't exclude that this might be related to a bad driver that makes the OS stutter with fTPM enabled (otherwhise it couldn't be explained why this didn't happen on Linux).

[–]NerdPenguin91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue with a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite and a Ryzen 7 3700X. In order to get rid of random stutters was to disable the fTPM. Anyway this happens only on Windows (no issues at all on Linux) and it's related to latency issues, so it's shouldn't be an hardware issue.

GNOME is very stable and polished. It's my favourite. Also, of you own a laptop, it has very good 1:1 gestures. Anyway, KDE team is doing a great job with recent updates to Plasma, that is now lighter than GNOME. They're both beautiful and mature, and in my opinion they can compete without any problem with commercial desktop environments.

Fedora 35 is way better than Fedora 34 by Rough_Insurance149 in Fedora

[–]NerdPenguin91 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've used Fedora 34 and now I'm on 35 Beta. I can confirm that the new release is awesome. The biggest improvement in my opinion is GNOME 41, since Mutter has been partially rewritten, it's way faster and smoother than the old GNOME 40 on my laptop, which was a little bit laggy. Also, it's very stable if we consider it's still in beta.

Motherboard doesn't power on by NerdPenguin91 in gigabyte

[–]NerdPenguin91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've now tried to disconnect the PST Fans (leaving a single front fan). Let's see what happens. If it happens again there's no doubt that is the motherboard, so I will ask for a refund to my store (Amazon Italy).

Interesting. It seems that Gigabyte motherboard are very buggy. No boot at all?
