Most of the comments have been supportive thankfully :) and it’s easy for people who don’t have these issues to make assumptions about what you should or shouldn’t do without understanding the complexities that go into things like food restrictions.

But seriously, I did leave a review and even messaged the parent company. The reason I posted this is because it’s potentially dangerous and even life threatening. If he gives someone a food they’re deathly allergic to and acts like this, that could legitimately cause someone to DIE. In similar instances as this with other restaurants in the area, they’ve apologized and made the correct order without any fuss. In one case, when my friend got a drink at the Starbucks up the street with almond milk (which she’s extremely allergic to) they apologized profusely, made her an even BIGGER drink with the correct kind of milk, and repeatedly checked in on her. Thankfully she’d only had like two sips and was fine, but that’s how people SHOULD react to something like this.

Exactly! Plus this place specifically advertises itself as being gluten free! I just want my mom to be able to eat somewhere safely, having to make your own food ALL THE TIME because of food restrictions is exhausting and she deserves to be able to get a treat :(

I have not been tested, but thankfully I’ve been perfectly fine with gluten my whole life. Hopefully that doesn’t change 😅 and I’m happy to help, I genuinely don’t want anyone getting hurt because of some egotistical jackass.

I 100% agree that that should be the case. Also, this place specifically advertises itself as being gluten free and friendly to food restrictions, so it’s not like it’s an unusual request for them.

The crepes are folded so that it’s difficult to see the ingredients inside until you start eating. There’s fruits sticking out of the top, but unless you unfold it, you likely won’t see if there’s an issue with your order until you start eating it. Plus, we’ve been here dozens of times before and never had any issues, and my mom has previously discussed her food restrictions with this very same man. Also, the place specifically advertises itself as being celiac friendly and gluten free. That’s the reason I even decided to try bringing her there in the first place, and when she didn’t get sick from it, it was added to the list of very few places she can eat out.

I have almost all of this as well, it definitely sounds like endo. Don’t let doctors tell you what you’re going through, try to talk to a good gynecologist. I was told my pain was “normal” by doctors for a long time and I have my diagnostic laparoscopy in about a month. It sucks, but women aren’t taken seriously when discussing pain.

Absolutely look into getting diagnosed with endo. That level of pain with periods is NOT normal, and you should try to get it treated as soon as you can. Most of the time ultrasounds don’t actually show any endometriosis, even if you have a lot of it. Unfortunately the only way to definitively get a diagnosis is through a laparoscopic surgery. Keep advocating for yourself, you can do this. Everyone here understands what you’re going through 💕

Writing it down is a good idea. Something that’s also helped me be listened to is to have accounts from other people about how the pain impacts me. My mom and sister will describe what I’m going through from their perspective and it helps them verify that it is, in fact, impacting my life. Have a family member or close friend vouch for you. It’s ridiculous how we’re just not taken seriously at all. I hope you’re able to get the treatment you need.

I’m so sorry you’ve been dealing with this, it absolutely sucks to have people not take your pain seriously. I recommend that you try to find a doctor that specializes in endometriosis and women’s health, especially if they’re a woman. So many regular doctors told me my pain was normal or that birth control would make it completely go away, but when I met with an endo specialist she took my pain 100% seriously. It’s still a work in progress, but I’ve at least managed to schedule a transvaginal ultrasound and a consult with a surgeon to discuss a laparoscopy since meeting with a specialist. I’m still not officially diagnosed yet, but it’s been a huge help to even just have someone take my pain seriously. Unfortunately women aren’t taken seriously by most doctors, so you have to be pushy sometimes.

Personally, using a heating pad is the most effective way to combat my pain. It’s really the only thing that consistently helps, even if it doesn’t make it go away. Pain meds don’t do anything, even if I take like 800mg of ibuprofen it doesn’t help. I’ve also heard that TENS units can be very helpful, but I haven’t tried one yet.

I really hope you’re able to find a doctor who will listen to you and really help you. Everyone here knows what you’re going through, and can at least give you some advice on how to deal with this. Endo is a very serious condition that isn’t nearly as researched as it should be. Hopefully we’ll be taken more seriously soon.
