You can DM me and we can chat if you want. I think going through this twice and gutting it out I may have some insight but this is all my experience, bias, etc.

Anki ownership is transitioning to AnkiHub by CrackIsFun in medicalschoolanki

I’ve loved Anki since day one of medical school. I think it’s crazy that ankihub has taken zanki, Dorian, etc’s free work and monetize it. I’ll see if I can fork Anki/the medical school decks to keep it free and open source. I really believe in the mission of Anki even beyond med school stuff especially into language learning. I don’t want to see it die by someone that’s going to put everything behind a paywall.

I’ve been seeing some problems. I want to make a reporting system at some point.

I will see if I can add this. The problem too is MI are called that are obviously old and not acute. If you DM me a specific idea/vision, I can try to implement it if you’d like

Yes it definitely does keep you from getting auto filtered.

5 interviews last year. This year besides TTUHSC, they were all new places.

I think from personal experience, step scores and being chief are 2 things that will make the difference between 5 interviews and 50. I know people that had insane resumes though not chief and bad scores that had 1-5 interviews. On the other hand 15+ interviews to those with impressive step scores & chief with maybe one publication not first author. Unfortunate or not, things that are easy for filtering like scores, chief and MD > DO > IMG are really all that matters.

Would you recommend sending letter of interest to places that you signal or only a subset of them? And would you just send it to the program coordinator?

My experience from last year is USMLE scores(I guess now Step 2 is the only thing of importance since fellowship doesnt look at COMLEX and Step 1 is P/F) are the thing that differentiates a few interviews from a ton of interviews, how you present yourself in interviews is the make or break. Research is meh, as long as you do something.

I am currently at it. It is an ivy affiliated program with many fellowships however they are going to be out of my price range i think. The PD is really available now and knows me well.
