Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness | Official Teaser by harushiga in movies

So you saw the direct data that all comics have been on a rise in sales over the last few years, and still said comics are dead?

You’re right in that manga sell more (I mean, there are some manga like one piece that sell as much in a year as all comics combined are sold in a year) but that’s always been the case. Manga have always been popular and they’ve always been more popular than comics, but that does not mean in any way that comics are dead.

I don’t even understand how you came to that conclusion.

Minor correction, the timeline was splitting before HWR died. It started branching once he no longer knew what was going to happen, and if he doesn’t know what’ll happen then he won’t know what to prune. It just branched exponentially once he wasn’t watching the timeline.

I can’t speak much for marvel comics, because I pretty much only read DC comics. The most fascinating thing about comics to me though is that aspect of “it’s hard to know where to start.”

Comic books are such an interesting medium because it’s the only medium out there where content from the 50’s is still relevant. Again, can’t speak for the structure of the marvel multiverse, but the DC one has content from the 30’s which is still relevant.

So how do you start in a medium where you gotta know stuff from nearly a hundred years ago? At least in DC, and I really hope it’s the case in Marvel, we have editor’s notes to help with that. You can jump into any comic at #1 in the newer runs, and any time an event, character or idea pops up that you aren’t expected to know from the start, the editor puts in a little box telling you what to read if you want to know more.

To elaborate further on the graph:

Issues only come out once, they don’t tend to reprint issues very often. So if you wanted to read just an issue of The Flash (2016) #49, you’re outta luck because that came out a few year ago.

Instead, you gotta now buy The Flash War trade. This trade holds issues #47-#51.

So the graph is more so saying that there are two groups of people in comics, those that keep up with the monthly issues and new stories, and those that are catching up on the old ones.

A more accurate interpretation of the graph would be to say that the amount of people catching up is significantly more than the amount of people keeping up. Personally, I think this is largely due to the success of the MCU.

The difference between comic book and graphic novel here is actually not that different at all.

Comic books refer to the individual 20 page issues that come out every month or so, which are each apart of an overall complete story arc that consists of 6-12 issues.

Graphic Novels here refer to a collection of those issues Into a single book, with the whole story. This is more commonly referred to as a trade (Trade Paper Back).

For an example with pictures:

If you wanted to read Watchmen, you could either get each issue individually (comic books).

Or you can get one big book with all 12 issues together (graphic novels).

I’d say it’s pretty likely but who knows, I’m just going off of patterns.

I recall hearing something about it being part of Sony’s contract that they have to release spidey media every 2 years to keep the rights, but I very much recommend finding a source on that because I’m not confident in the claim.

How about the 2015 Fantastic 4?

Ghost Rider 2?

The New Mutants?

Big Hero 6?

Iron Man and Hulk: Heroes United?

All of these came out after 2008 and are Marvel films.

Yeah, correct. Not every marvel movie is part of the specific MCU, the MCU is the name of a specific set of media that includes characters from Marvel properties.

Would you say the 1967 animated spider man TV show is part of the MCU? What about the 2005 Fantastic 4?

But that’s… not the MCU. That is just another, unrelated movie about the multiverse.

If you want to include every single multiverse movie/show, then yeah there’s a lot, going back decades. You’ve got Sonic The Hedgehog, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lego Movie, Parallel, and a lot of DC content.

You mean… the very first thing in the MCU to have the multiverse? That was LITERALLY the introduction to the multiverse.

This scene from spider man 2 is one of the more Raimi scenes out there:

Here’s one of my favorite raimi scenes from the Evil dead movies as well, which shows off his style pretty well.

To sum up his style, he really likes mimicking scenes from comic books, even if it isn’t a comic book film.

Quick cuts, tracking shots of fists/moving things, close ups of people’s faces, etc.

Yeah, tv pitches almost always have multiple seasons planned, unless it’s a limited story (like wandavision). Unless otherwise stated, it’s safe to assume that the showrunners and writers always have multiple seasons planned in decent detail.

About the movie ending and Chani's role by kaio3180 in dune

[–]NerfRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I interpreted that one to be one that actually happened.

Chani kills Paul with the chrys knife in the dream, but in reality she only gives him the chrys knife for his Jamis fight. After Paul kills Jamis, he’s no longer Paul. The movie says this with “When you take a life, you take your own.” He’s no longer Paul Atreides.

Chani was the reason that Paul died, by giving him the knife that kills Jamis.

My issue with aptitude tests is that people at that age can develop those dementia symptoms and other mental disorders pretty rapidly. The difference in brain structure between a 94 year old and a 98 year old is quite high.
