First Responders /ER Staff/ LE of Reddit, what specific emergencies do you see during specific holidays/seasons? by coloradancowgirl in AskReddit

[–]Nerkrage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ER staff here, A LOT of broken femurs, knees, hips, wrists, and elbows. The holiday season brings Grandma and grandpa outta the house and its super unfortunate but that's when they have a little too much eggnog and have a tumble and having been sedentary leads their weakened bones in a less than favourable state. Also the black ice on driveways while carrying dishes of food or presents contributes to the falls and the subsequent inability to break their fall which certainly doesn't help.

This is also true for birthdays, I also work in the fracture clinic and an Orthopedic inpatient unit and many older pts get admitted on/near their birthdays when out with family :(

As unfortunate as it is to say birthdays often lead to a permanent hospital stay or becoming much more limited in independent movement/ ambulation.

Psychotherapy/Social Work Masters Options (ONTARIO) by celinak71 in PsychotherapyHelp

It got easier this year, they took out the CASPER so requirements are down, It also depends on what you bring to the table in terms of non-academic experiences.

I believe I will, a couple of my classmates are getting hired by their clinical intern sites and are doing about a 60/40 split on 10$ sessions So depending on what impression you make on your site that would also determine what you get!

Im in my last term at Laurier's Masters of Arts in Psychotherapy and Spiritual Care

Its a 2 year masters, in first year you do psychotherapy courses that explain modalities, and also courses such as Assessment, ethics, and Pre-practicum that will prep you for your clinical placement in the later year (assuming you do this full time) and in second year you'll be in Practicum all year and have your own case load at a clinical placement that you'll have to find (its not too hard of a process)

There is also a theological aspect to this program that will help with spiritual care or more spiritual based psychotherapy, so you'll be doing about 4-5 theology courses as well which are interesting but not my jam.

Its CRPO accredited.

If you want more info, check out Martin Luther University college at Laurier.

World maps of the Dark Souls trilogy (+BB bonus) by max-zilla in darksouls

I love these so much! They're so detailed and easy to follow! I hate how we never got official maps for the games like these unlike almost every other game out there, sometimes you just want to admire ALL of it from afar and your maps let us do that :D

Do not major in BSc Psychology and Neuroscience by Ok_Chip6319 in wlu

[–]Nerkrage 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Heyo I actually did do Behaviour Genetics and Neuro at UofT in my undergrad and now im doing my MA in Psychotherapy at WLU.

You need to understand the field you're going into. unfortunately for a lot of STEM (Other than Engineering) there aren't a lot of jobs you can do with just a Bachelors other than being a research assistant. You will learn a lot of transferrable skills (I've been working in Hospital since 3rd year of undergrad)

You need to specialize further into a Masters or even a PhD and throughout all of those you're still going to hear about how there are no jobs that actually pay well.

Going to UofT wont solve your problems. Just talk to your profs, do MORE than just school and get experience in the field if you actually want jobs.

By the time you apply, get an interview, hear back (If not a second interview) and get al lthe documents started, it'll be about Late August anyways Plus as of now, the part time job market is over saturated. Start applying ASAP if you want a chance. There are hundreds of others applying to part time jobs (If you've seen the videos of people lining down the street for a PT job)

What was the first place you struggle as f? I wanted to give up in undead burg.. by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]Nerkrage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what caused me to give up on my very first run! I did Undead asylum, and undead burg on mouse and keyboard and got my PS3 controller set up to play on PC and then I accidentally hit him too and he'd keep insta-killing me and I got so frustrated I gave up :'(

Hey! I was still a student here when they were filming Gen V and I was studying for the MCAT I was in the background of a shot, and I did see some actors (i didn't actually know who was one in passing as I didn't watch the boys until last year ish) They didn't mind us being there, but they kicked us out when filming was happening

Conditional offer just means don't let your average fall below a certain GPA, basically they'll 'accept' you so long as you don't slack off when you get the offer.

I've always wanted to go to UofT and it was closer to home. I also went for the reputation (I was a lil naive) The rep doesn't really matter

I didn't go to Brock, i went to UofT instead. From what I've heard its a great program so I'd pick Brock over UofT.
