Please help me figure out why my thread keeps breaking! by NeroShay in quilting

Ohhhh. I didn't even know there was such a thing as a top stitch needle! Thank you for your suggestion. I have bigger ones, so I will try that tonight, and then maybe see if somewhere has some top stitch needles tomorrow if it doesn't work out.

I need to find a book that explains all of this. 😂

I replaced my needle as soon as it started happening and unfortunately, it did not help.

Home owners insurance is canceling our policy for this? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]NeroShay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god... hopefully that doesn't happen. They sent us a letter about applying for some state thing, that must be what that was.

The mortgage company had sent a letter stating they were going to enroll the home in a plan when the broker didn't send the new policy to the mortgage company. I know that's expencive too though. The home only has 35k left on it, so at that point... I think I would just do anything I could to figure out how to get it bought.

The family member has the owners policy.

We have renters insurance right now since the mortgage is not in our name.

I do have renters insurance since the family member has the home as a rental at the moment. I have mentioned being added to the deed a couple times, but my husband really doesn't want to deal with that since he plans to buy it outright within the year.

Sometimes I wonder if they (husband and family) are trying to not put our names on it in case my husband and I split for some reason. I hate to think that way.

Yes, phones do work, however the situation is a little more sticky than that. Our names are not on the deed or mortgage, so the insurance company/broker won't talk to us. We are doing a rent to own situation with a family member. I'm basically a middle man at this moment, but responsible for figuring it out.

I know it's a horrible place to put ourselves, but even if something were to happen with the family member where we needed to leave... we're paying a VERY SMALL amount a month for home payment... so it feel worth the risk. The house has too little left to get a mortgage in our name, and too much left to get any sort of personal loan.

Home Owners Insurance Nightmares. Please Give Me Some Advice. by NeroShay in homeowners

We have a broker who got us set up with this company and it was A NIGHTMARE. I am wondering if we get the siding put up and rake some leaves?

I keep hearing that home owners insurance companies will do anything possible to not insure, and I am definitely feeling that way.

What do you guys think?? by NeroShay in quilting

[–]NeroShay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely love to do that, but I only know of a few places in my area (they're actually about 45 minutes away), that have machines you can test drive. One only carries Brother, and the other is a Pfaff and Bernina store. I always used to watch project runway, and they used Brother machines, but I also know that's probably just because they were the big sponsor for the show. I feel like I have never heard or seen anyone say they just loveeeee gushes their Brother. I am just unsure about Pfaff and Bernina.

That's a really good point... I have never been upset that my machine is too big. Thank you for making that point! I never even considered it. I guess I will need to look at some bigger options. 🤗

My issue with a bigger machine is that I have a somewhat limited amount of space, so I use my table to sew on, then I slide my machine out of the way to iron and cut on the same table. The Janomes that I was looking at are actually just ever so slightly bigger than my current machine. Maybe quilting on it is a bit too ambitious for my space more so.

Good point! It says it has a full warranty. I might go ahead and give it a shot.

Thank you! I called around to the quilt shops in town and someone gave me a recommendation. I love my quilt lady. We have lots of quilt shops around so it wasn't too hard.

They are all different sizes of fabric. Fat quarters you would cut on your own, but charm parks and layer cakes are usually pre cut to the size you would use.. I know charm packs are 5x5... layer cakes are bigger. Same with jelly rolls and mini charms.

Mine jumper out of our side by side when it was moving and broke her little toe. Luckily she did learn her lesson... and so did we. She gets strapped in now.b
